Our RV and Tent Campsites are located in a grassy field next to dense woods. Electric and water hookups are included in the RV/Camper sites, but not the Tent Site. All sites have a picnic table and fire ring. Our newly renovated restrooms on the property have toilets and one shower. A boardwalk takes you along the Cotee River to our two open air pavilions with several places to sit and enjoy nature. Cell phone service is not a problem, as we are not remote (although it sort of feels like we are when you are here) - we are 5 min from downtown New Port Richey, 2 minutes from groceries, gas, restaurants.
This beautiful slice of Old Florida is named for the Pithlachascotee River that bends along the back side of the property. Pithlo is the Creek word meaning canoe, and chaskita means to dig or chop out, together signifying "place where canoes are chopped or dug out". Seminoles of this area used canoes dug out from the great cypress trees found along Florida rivers.
From the 1980s until 2014, this property was owned by the Cotee River Lions Club. They held a popular monthly pancake breakfast fundraiser in the large pavilion along the river. We purchased this 4.9 acres of land in late 2019. It is now where we live and have a woodworking shop. It has been a magical place for us, with no shortage of wildlife, rich jungle forest, a winding narrow river, and even the occasion river otter sighting.
We are grateful to all the humans who have occupied this place over the centuries before us for keeping it as nature intended it. It is our intention to do our part to conserve and protect its natural beauty as long as possible. We hope you find it to be as restful and rejuvenating as we do.

Ever wonder what it would be like to stay on a deserted island? This is truly an adventure you will never forget. Once you land in paradise you will wander thru the looping trail system to find your campsite. There are (5) campsites with elevated tent platforms tucked back in the trees. Once you are settled in, it is time to gather wood and build a fire in one of the (2) 8 foot wide, 2 ton concrete fire pits.
Awake a dawn with a nice kayak/canoe trip on a secluded water trail thru mangrove islands and stop for lunch at River's Edge Bar and Grill across the river from the island. Having too much fun, take a nap in hammock and rock to breeze and sounds of river.
This is an island is accessible via water only so there is some preparation to get here and stay here. Kayaks, Canoes and a shuttle are available if you don't have your own transportation.

A rich variety of wild birds visit regularly, recognizing it as a safe haven for wildlife. And though we can't guarantee you'll see a rare one, we can guarantee you'll see CHICKENS! Six of them in fact, Salty, Sleepy, Jet, Little Comb, Tapatio, and Dutchess. These friendly, curious, and fearless little marauders are guaranteed to make your acquaintance, and if you're not looking, invite themselves to share your breakfast. They free roam the yard during daylight hours, so please help us keep all gates shut to prevent them from going on an unscheduled field trip. They will also leave "landmines" on the pathways, so be sure to watch your step. We do our best to keep everything clean and tidy, but chickens abhor tidiness. And will go out of their way to unleash chaos at every turn. Still, we love the little bird brains and they are an entertaining addition to the grounds. They're also the reason we ask that all pets, and children under 12, be left at home. We thank you for your understanding and help in preserving the safety of our flock, and as thanks, please help yourself to any fresh eggs in the chicken coop. This is only a brief description, there's so much more to see on-site, but you'll also want to make your way out into the city (15 minute drive) for some of the unique flair St Pete is known for. Check out the Salvadore Dali museum and see his famous surrealist paintings. Visit some of the best beaches in the country, like St Pete Beach (15 minutes drive due West). Wander the Fort Desoto historical park area. Or Stop by the Morean Arts Center and see live glass blowing demonstrations, or just walk along Central Ave to soak up the cool vibe and rich city art scene. This property is home to a farm/nursery operation and has a large pond on the west side. The pond is Spring-fed at the headwaters of Marsh Branch Creek which begins at our property and flows West about five miles in to Tampa Bay.
Approximately 33 private acres allows for plenty of space between our campsites.
Property is home to a farm with hundreds of fruit trees- Lychee, Mango, Starfruit, Papaya, Guava). Red Mombin, and thousands of banana plants.
Fishing can be great, wildlife and bird watching too.
Fenced and gated for safety, this old historic nursery property has good vibes and plenty to offer. Until you see it - you really may not understand.
Parts of property are wide open, other areas are rugged and difficult to walk through including some wetland areas.
The nursery has plenty of trees, and some fields -the large pond is surrounded by cattails and marsh/wetlands and has fish (Bass, Tilapia, Sunfish, Catfish).

The Withlacoochee Trail is a mile east at the end of the road. This is a biking, hiking and equestrian trail. Florida Classic Park is roughly 2 miles north on Lockhart. The Croom Recreational Area is also 3 miles away.
If you are traveling with farm animals, we do have (2) 2-acre cross-fenced paddocks available for an additional fee. We also have a stable available, but that does have a concrete floor with mats. Please reach out to us directly in this regard.

They free roam the yard during daylight hours, so please help us keep all gates shut to prevent them from going on an unscheduled field trip. They will also leave "landmines" on the pathways, so be sure to watch your step. We do our best to keep everything clean and tidy, but chickens abhor tidiness. And will go out of their way to unleash chaos at every turn. Still, we love the little bird brains and they are an entertaining addition to the grounds. Located near I-75 just 20 miles South of Tampa, 35 miles east of Saint Petersburg, 35 miles North of Sarasota, 2 hours West of Orlando.
This property is home to a farm/nursery operation and has a large pond on the west side. The pond is Spring-fed at the headwaters of Marsh Branch Creek which begins at our property and flows West about five miles in to Tampa Bay.
Approximately 33 private acres allows for plenty of space between our campsites.
Property is home to a farm with hundreds of fruit trees- Lychee, Mango, Starfruit, Papaya, Guava). Red Mombin, and thousands of banana plants.
Fishing can be great, wildlife and bird watching too.
Fenced and gated for safety, this old historic nursery property has good vibes and plenty to offer. Until you see it - you really may not understand.
Parts of property are wide open, other areas are rugged and difficult to walk through including some wetland areas.
The nursery has plenty of trees, and some fields -the large pond is surrounded by cattails and marsh/wetlands and has fish (Bass, Tilapia, Sunfish, Catfish).
Several species of wildlife have been seen on the property.

Come visit our friendly donkey (Henry) and Scottish Highland cow (Wallace). You will hear roosters, braying and some mooing early in the morning. The Withlacoochee Trail is a mile east at the end of the road. This is a biking, hiking and equestrian trail. Florida Classic Park is roughly 2 miles north on Lockhart. The Croom Recreational Area is also 3 miles away.
If you are traveling with farm animals, we do have (2) 2-acre cross-fenced paddocks available for an additional fee. We also have a stable available, but that does have a concrete floor with mats. Please reach out to us directly in this regard.

I had a lovely stay with my jeep and dog at Mike’s place on the pond. A hidden gem I’d say, a working organic fruit farm brilliant with eclectic old Florida rustic charm. Mike was so incredibly friendly, showing me around the beautiful property., a work in progress full of passion and love for the land. My camp site 7 was quiet, clean and just remote enough to enjoy a beautiful evening amongst the stars. The morning of my departure, Mike stopped by to gift me with some lovely star fruit. Such a thoughtful gesture and so incredibly kind. I would highly recommend Mikes place, getting away tucked into this beautiful piece of land at the pond , a quiet little piece of heaven amongst the fruit trees with a bohemian grass roots vibe.

We had such a great experience at the Spotted Dance Ranch. The owners we so friendly and helpful. John even helped my camper backing challenged hubs into our space. We got a tour of the horse barn and great suggestions for the area. Clean bathhouse. Everything was perfect! Will return yearly for sure. Check out the nearby Withlachookie Trail, 46 places miles. We brought our e-bikes!

A working farm oasis perfect for primitive camping! There is a sandy drive looping around a pond area where rustic camp sites are designated; so it makes the camping best for tenting or a camper van sized vehicle. There is no restroom, showering, water, electric available, but this is not a deal breaker. The land is lovely and sites are well spaced and give you privacy. A bit of highway hum can be heard, but not enough to distract or keep you awake. It is best to make reservations in advance and arrive prior to sundown. This will give you time to scope out the farm and sites as there is no lighting to guide you. I would definitely stay again!

Nice quiet spot, was a bit confused finding gate as it’s at a dead end in a neighborhood and I assumed it was more country from the pics, so I thought I was lost. Mike was very helpful and met me at the gate and I followed him to my spot. Surroundings in my area were pretty. Site 7 wasn’t exactly as the pic represented.. it was a pull off next to the dirt road that takes you around the pond. Not much room to put out a tent but I was camping in my car so it was fine for me. I drove around the pond and other areas had more room, so if you’re tent camping I’d pick a different site than 7. Overall, it’s a great location and a nice safe stay and would stay here again

Staying at Sandy Bottom Retreat is a dream come true for nature lovers and true campers. Kira the host was incredibly accommodating and kind. We booked site 2 right on the Little Manatee River. Woke up every morning to birds singing, sunlight floating through the trees adorned with moss, and the sounds of the river flowing along to the sea. There are fish, deer, otters and tons of beautiful birds. Kira has truly created a little slice of heaven and I can’t recommend staying here enough!

Lovely farm and great RV layout! We booked 3 nights but only stayed 1 due to our dog. There are some sort of lil dingle berries all over the farm that were matted into our dogs fur. We literally pulled out hundreds of them numerous times. They are about the size of a peppercorn. I assume it is a grass seed of some sort. Great place just not for pets & dogs.

The camping on Tammi’s property was just as advertised. We got a nice little spot right next to the barrel racing arena and watched the girls running the horses through their paces every evening. Tammi was very gracious and allowed us an electric hookup and use of the bathroom in the horse barn. The property is off the main road and secluded. It’s also gated, so no worry if you need to leave your stuff for a while and run in to town. If we’re in the area, we will definitely stay again.

What a lovely place! The camping area is lawn, with hook ups, a picnic table, and fire pit. There are well-kept trails and a boardwalk to a secluded pavilion by the river. Hang out there in the morning and evening to listen for birds, including owls. The scenery is beautiful trees and palmettos, and the greenery is lush. The road is nearby, but it is not loud. The bathrooms are clean and well-kept.
