Goat House Farm is a 501(c)3 owned micro-farm in a rural area of Tallahassee on the beautiful Lake Talquin. The farm has its humble beginnings in the summer of 2015 with four acres, four goats, and four chickens. Founded on the love of animals and a passion for sustainability, we remain committed to compassionate practices and the most natural care of our land and animals as possible.

Born out of a dream that started 10 years ago when I acquired 40 acres of forgotten and unmanaged rural woods. Having dug right in with the help of the Florida Forestry Service, FWC, IFAS, NRCS and a very knowledgeable private forester; we developed a conservation management plan to restore it to its native state. The neighboring land became available and happily added another 40, I've learned so much on this amazing journey. 25K pines and a great deal of sweat equity later, it is time to share and encourage others to join in on the conservation efforts and make sure it's around for future generations.

Our property is riverfront along the Aucilla River, and sits within the Aucilla Wildlife Management area. It is surrounded by nature and old Florida scenery. We are appx 45 mins from the little fishing village of Steinahatchee and 45 mins from Florida's State Capitol ,Tallahassee . Come to relax ! We offer kayaks and life jackets that can used at your risk. Scheduling is required . We have 3 singles, one being a fishing and one two persons. Furnished cottage with large river view windows and a walk around deck. The cottage is an open floor plan with king size bed and a full-size sleeper sofa. A comfy twin mattress bed can also be provided. Enjoy relaxing and watch the river flow by from the swivel rocker recliner. Climate controlled AC/Heating unit. The cottage has a mini refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot and dishware. BBQ grille located on outside deck and propane is provided. There is a gas fire pit on the north river deck and a wood burning fire pit along the riverbank, wood provided.
The space
River Rise Cottage is set up to offer a relaxing and enjoyable experience to make lasting memories. The cottage has large windows with outstanding river views and a walk around deck that you can fish from. Should it rain, you can enjoy the sound of the rain on the metal roof. Several feet from the cottage is a screened porch overlooking the scenic river, with plenty of comfortable seating and a daybed... should you want to nap. From this location It's not uncommon to see wildlife. A wonderful place to enjoy your morning coffee or unwind in the evening bug free. Take a swing on the open porch, sit riverside at either our propane fire pit or have a campfire (firewood provided) which is also along the river nestled in the woods. We encourage guests to use the outdoor seating areas for the ultimate relaxation experience and to find your favorite spot! Bar-B-Q with our easy-to-use propane grill (utensils and grill pans provided). Our fish station makes cleaning your catch a breeze! Also available a full-size fridge located on the screened porch in addition to the mini fridge in the cottage.
Guest access
Large open deck with ladder access to the floating dock which is perfect for mooring your boat or launching kayaks. Kayaks are available for guest use. Provided are (2) single person (1) fishing single person and (1) two-person tandem kayaks with life vest.
We offer a complimentary shuttle service for the 5-mile downstream Aucilla River to the Gulf of Mexico trip. This can be scheduled after your check-in. Use of the kayaks are at your "own risk" with no host liability.
We encourage guest to enjoy the common areas porches at back of main house. Camp chairs are provided and can be used at the fire pit and along the riverbank.
A public boat ramp is located within 300 yards north of the property and we have ample storage for you boat trailer during your stay.

We gladly accept children with the understanding that all children thirteen and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times outside the cottage due to its proximity over the river and being in a very natural wildlife environment. This is a strict requirement that will be compulsory. This is for the safety of your children while staying at the River Rise Cottage.
We are pet friendly but do require that your pets are not left alone in the cottage. We have different size crates available, and these are provided at no extra charge in the event that you should leave the cottage and choose not to take your fur baby with you. There is a $50 non-refundable pet deposit fee for 1 -2 pets.

William’s property is an outstanding Hipcamp experience. The land is beautiful and expansive—over 80 acres with well-maintained trails, food plots that attract wildlife, and a real sense of privacy and peace.
The amenities truly set this place apart. The heated bathhouse was spotless and felt more like a lodge than a campground. We stayed in the duck tent, which came with a heater and was warm, cozy, and extremely well set up—easily a glamping-level experience.
The property is very dog-friendly and thoughtfully maintained throughout. Everything reflects care, intention, and pride of ownership. We stayed for five nights and would absolutely return. Highly recommend.

What a great surprise, didn’t know what to expect going in but we had such a great time! Super clean, comfortable, it got down to about 35 our 2nd night but between the heater and our sleeping bags we were able to stay warm. The common area was well kept, bathroom/shower also clean and lots of warm water! Great location for us to visit family. We will be going back!

2 nights at Goat House Farm
The Goat House Farm provided the perfect yet affordable getaway for my partner and I. The farm consisted of friendly goats, adorable chickens, and a dog named Tobi that made us feel right at home. The location of the farm was great, as we were able to go to various springs and state parks during our 2-night stay. The cabin included all the necessities and was comfortable. The host, Melissa, was very sweet and welcoming. It was a short hike to the lake that provided even more beautiful scenery. We quickly made friends with the orange cat that hung out outside the cabin, played fetch with Tobi, kicked our legs up outside, and made the most of our ideal summer evenings on the farm.

This was a nice solo travel experience for me. The Rustic Cottage is very cozy, clean and stocked with almost everything you'd need (i.e. cookware, spices, body wash). Goat yoga was fun and the property is serene. Horseflies were in abundance during the day but that didn't dull the experience.

It’s truly a rural experience. The host was very responsive to all questions, before and during my visit. She even offered to let me come out when the goat kids were being bottle fed. The Coop was clean, decorated just like a chicken coop, and had cold A/C. I added in the morning biscuits option which was a tasty treat as I got on the road.

The cottage was extremely clean and well laid out. Literally right over the water, so the view was beautiful and oh so peaceful. We were really able to unplug. This cozy, quiet cabin was the perfect retreat during our 3-day soccer tournament stay. It had everything we needed—comfy beds, a warm shower, and a peaceful setting that made it easy to relax at night. One of the best parts was getting to spend time with the goats—such sweet animals! We even got to see a newborn baby with her mom, which was such a special experience. The host was incredibly kind and welcoming, making us feel right at home. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Highly recommend this unique and charming spot!

I was in town with my adult daughter for a football game. We stayed in the cottage. What a unique and fun place! A perfect rustic getaway if you love animals. The bed was super comfortable and the cottage had every convenience needed. I call it glamping but even better. We paid for biscuits and soap that we did not receive, but in all fairness we were not around much and I did not ask before we had to leave.. I considered it to be a donation to the farm. Roosters start crowing very early in the morning. And goats have a distinct smell. Not bad, just like goat haha. We had read that in other reviews and knew what to expect and did not mind at all (knowing we were staying on a working farm).. This place is not everyone’s cup of tea, but we loved staying here.
