Basecamp Frederick is located on almost 2 acres adjacent to the Frederick Municipal Forest & Watershed on Hamburg Rd. There is a small creek that borders one side of the property, a wooded area in the back, and access to trails across the street. This area of Frederick is prime for outdoor activities such as cycling, hiking, fishing, foraging, and wildlife watching. Both Gambrill State Park and Catoctin Mountain Park are nearby and easy to access for day trips.

About Tyme Farm is a 26 plus acre privately owned farm used for crops such as corn, soy beans and sunflowers. The property includes a 150+ year old stone farm house, large historic barn on the barn quilt tour in Carroll County, renovated camping cabin for those not into rough camping, fields, streams , woods for hiking, plenty of wild life and lots of quiet. The farm is surrounded by other farms in the agricultural preservation program yet you are only 5 miles from stores, movies, antiques and other aspects of civilization or entertainment if needed. Enjoy watching the deer come out of the woods and meander along the stream and fields at dusk and return in the morning. Electric, water, fire pit and a Port a Pot is available even for rough campers. Pets welcome but must be on a leash or exercise pen or with their owners in some way while here for their safety. There is a large fenced yard for dogs that just have to run if needed. Glamorous camping with a furnished heated/cooled cabin is available for rent by the night for those who do not have camping equipment or do not want to rough it. For those that have been camping before and have all the equipment there is plenty of room for a tent or camper near the buildings or by the stream or woods. For RV owners there is 50amp electric service in the barn. You will need an RV extension cord to access it. I have a 100 ft RV ext. cord but it can be farther than that depending on where you park. Bring one of your own to be sure. It is a farm and not set up like an RV park with numerous outlets.

You can fish and float the river. There are no trails so a moderate level of fitness and comfort in the forest is needed. You can follow the water ways but it is wilderness. Camping there is primitive but available or you can camp or glamp at Earthwalk Ways Retreat. We are also adjacent to a 50 acre farm on the other side of the creek that is available for hiking. There is a reservoir nearby as well. We are in the midst of the suburbs not far from Fredericksburg, which has some great historic and community places of interest. Would it be to rest in nature and soak up the sounds and wonder of our wooded landscape, explore hiking trails and national and state parks, float down the Potomac, and/or visit historic sites and towns? Fern Yabin (a hard sided yurt) is nestled in a forest on a ridge (Elk Ridge) directly across from the Maryland Appalachian Trail. We are tucked down in a holler surrounded by streams, towering Poplars, wildlife and dappled sunshine. The land hosts some animals - a goat, dogs, cats, chickens, and ducks while growing medicinal plants, seasonal edible berries/fruits (wineberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, mulberries, elderberries, vine kiwi, pawpaw, etc.) and rocks (plenty of them). There is a couple of acres enclosed with an electric fence where the livestock guardian dog (Luna) roams with the animals. We also sell farm fresh eggs. Fern Yabin is a rustic hard sided yurt style cabin that has hot and cold water, composting toilet, outdoor shower (cold water only), a indoor soaking tub, hot water kettle, an outdoor propane grill, ceiling fan, outdoor patio and fire pit, skylight, WiFi, and lots of character. The Yabin was a true labor of love built as a collective effort in community. There is a designated parking spot and a gravel path (moderate decline) that leads down to the Yabin. In a nutshell, we loved the Yabin! The property is very laid-back and accessible. The cozy outside area with a fire pit and seating area is right outside the door of the Yabin. It is much bigger and more sturdy than we imagined. So much space with many nice touches. The woodstove kept everything nice and cozy overnight. The beds were so comfortable! Andrea could not be more accommodating and she is very communicative. If you decide to book, before you pack for your trip, make sure you check with Andrea. She really has thought of just about everything you will need. I can’t wait to go back!

Weekend Trip to Mountain Lake Retreat

There were a lot of thoughtful touches, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the backyard was really nice. The hot tub was clean enough and worked well and the fire pit was lovely. The place felt a lot bigger than the pictures implied! The hosts communicated well enough, except missing the text that one of the two toilets was broken. Other notes: It is really three, full- or queen-sized beds + one very small mattress above the bed in the basement. It could technically fit 7 people if everyone shared beds except one small person, who slept on the small mattress above. The basement bathroom was iffy, with only a small spray of water in the shower, a toilet that didn't work while we were there, and a door that doesn't fully close.

Furnished cabin is now available for those without camping equipment. Cabin is heated and air conditioned. Comfortable in any weather. Sleeps 4.

Rodney was very communicative and made our arrival easy. The tiny house was perfect for my boyfriend, me and the dog. The horses were friendly. The dogs curious. And the goats interesting. I’d love to come back and stay longer.

Weekend Trip to Cross Creek Farm

Perfect stop over during my road-trip. It’s very clean, cozy, and convenient. I put my perishables and ice packs in the little fridge/freezer. Boiled water for my tea and instant soup. My dog and I enjoyed visiting with the horses and having a nice walk around the farm. Nighttime was peaceful and quiet for stargazing and getting good rest. Highly recommend as a pet-friendly place to stay.

1 night at Cross Creek Farm

This is my second time at Cross Creek tiny house. I had a restful, peaceful, safe stay here with my doggie. Place was clean, well stocked, comfortable bedding and towels, and easy access since I could drive up to the site. Host is friendly, communicative, and welcoming, definitely recommend to a fellow traveller. I could walk my dog around the property, the horses were such a calming presence, and nighttime was quiet and easy to get a good night’s sleep. Highly recommend!

14 nights at Cross Creek Farm

The tiny house was great! I stayed two weeks with my two big dogs. It was well laid out and had everything we needed. I ended up sleeping on the futon with my foam mattress I use while car camping because my old dog couldn't navigate the steep stairs to the loft, but it was actually comfy. The kitchen is minimal, but I could do a little bit of cooking and make coffee, so it worked. The house looks out on a pasture with trees hiding the road, so it was very private yet roomy outside, and the dogs had room to roam a bit (I kept an eye on them). The farm is very picturesque. The host was friendly and accommodating, the eggs were delicious, the whole experience was lovely if a bit primitive. Exactly what I expected!

Weekend Trip to Maryland Health Society

The cabin was so comfortable and exactly what I needed. I spent probably half of my weekend enjoying the bug-free front porch, listening to music (and playing!), and just having a totally empty brain. The people, though - they really made the stay! I was welcomed into conversations as though I'd been part of the community for years. There was room to explore! The pool was a welcome surprise - I only say that because I'm not much of a pool guy. This was where folks gathered to talk, read, snack... whatever! What a wonderful community!

We had a great weekend camping on Rodney’s farm. He was very kind to us when we arrived and took us to the tiny home. Inside it has everything you need: full kitchen with an induction burner, shower with hot water, comfy bed in the loft, WiFi, and a great spot for making a campfire and enjoying nature. We would definitely love to stay here again :)

We apologize in advance that some normal things are removed completely like printed house manuals. We ask that you remove all trash and a few other things upon departing to help us stay safe as well.The internet cannot be guaranteed if there is a problem with the provider. In a wooded area bugs are normal. Loud noise or Guest not on the reservation will result in immediate termination and removal. We have a zero tolerance policy. Our relationship and safety of our neighbors and neighborhood is of upmost importance to us.
