3 nights at Darbywoods RV Mountain Lot

This camping spot was great! The area is full of drives, hikes, and views. It is close to Black Canyon, and a spot where you can rent ATVs. Water and electric hookups worked great and were readily available. WiFi worked great and was an excellent bonus for the kids. Highly recommend.

Weekend Trip to Balsam Bliss

We loved our stay on the 1-acre full hookup lot close to Arrowhead Mountain Lodge. The site was level, private, and had everything we needed—water, sewer, and electric all worked great. Beautiful forest views and peaceful surroundings made it feel like a true mountain escape. We also saw a bear walk around the property. The lodge was a short drive away for music, food and drinks, and there were tons of off road trails nearby to Lake City and beyond. Limited cell service, but that just made it easier to unplug. Would definitely return!

The site is flat and has all the services needed for a RV camper. Easy access and located within sight of the Hosts home so there is good security. Beautiful forest area around the property.

We had a Great stay at River side. Beautiful location and close enough to town, clean ,nice camping spots. The only issue we had was the water for camping. I would recommend not hooking up. We had to flush our system to get all the smelly water out at our next stop.

What a special place. We enjoyed our stay at Martha and Greg's lot. The setting was beautiful. It was worth the drive up the mountain to get there. Greg met us and escorted us the last mile or so to the site and helped us to get set up. It is a great place to get away from it all and enjoy the beauty and quiet. We have a 33' 5th wheel, and while it took a little patience to get set up, it fit just fine. All hook-ups worked great. Internet was provided, however we were able to use our Starlink (despite the wooded lot), which was great. Highly recommend this lot provided you don't mind taking it slow the last stretch to get there. The hosts are lovely and want to make sure you have everything you need for your stay.

Great little spot close to downtown Silverton. We managed to get our 30’ wolf den into their spot, but wouldn’t recommend anything much larger if you have a tow vehicle. The 110 power was super convenient to keep the batteries charged so we didn’t have to run a generator. Joe and Patricia were super accommodating and kind. We ended up dumping tanks at the Red Mountain RV spot up the road for $20. The closer one charges $25.

This was an amazing site, with great hiking and wonderful aspen trees everywhere. A bear wandered through our camp site on morning. We will be back as soon as able!

Weekend Trip to Twilight Falls

We tent camped at this location, selecting it only at the last minute. Blake was very communicative about what to expect and how to navigate there successfully. The trek to the bathrooms was notable, but we knew that going in. There is only one bathroom (shower and toilet) to be shared with the sites on this property. So, some planning is required for a lengthier bathroom visit.

We really enjoyed staying here! Loved the solitude and the view. Loved being surrounded by pine trees — not enormous RVs! Hook-ups worked well. We had a fire in the fire pit in the morning (night was windy).

Amazing spot to stay and explore the Durango area!! The spot is close to the house but as others said, you’ll be facing out towards nothing but forest and valley views for 180*+ on the other side. There is an unmapped trail system connected to the spot, it is pretty steep down into the valley and back but was a lot of fun, super private and our corgi actually handled it fine. Easy drive into Durango to hang out for the day, and you’re close to lots more to do! First time renting and driving a 25ft class C didn’t give me any issues. The dirt road leading to the property has at least one switch back that might be tougher for larger vehicles or trailers not sure. Michael and Shannon were easy to reach for questions and friendly. Great spot, we would stop again on our way through town!

We spent one night at Kammie’s and it was lovely. We had water, electricity and a portable toilet. The site is pretty and very quiet. The hosts are very friendly but not invasive. Great place for tenting.

History of JW Durango Riverside Resort It all started in 1965… When this campground hosted its first guests the goal back then was simply to offer folks from around the Four Corners a place to relax and lounge along the Animas River. Today, the property boasts 73 quality RV sites, 24 cabins and 6 tent sites. We also have a heated pool, playground, convenience store, retail shop, game room, café with a large deck for dining, laundry room, paved roadways, two bath houses, and an observation deck overlooking the Animas. The property sits just south of Bakers Bridge, a local landmark made famous as the set of the climactic finale in the movie “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” – where Paul Newman and Robert Redford sat along the rocky cliffs that line the river before they famously took the plunge. As the lifeblood of this community, the Animas River winds its way under that bridge and south toward historic downtown Durango.
