You can hear Alder Creek flowing through the canyon from the comfort of your campsite. Many nearby options for bicycling, hiking, kayaking and skiing in the area. Once you pull out the driveway you are a few minutes from Last Dollar Ranch Road (hike, bike, or 4x4) and about a 25 minute drive to Telluride, 30 minutes to Ridgway, and 30 minutes to Norwood. Just outside of Ridgway is Orvis Hot Springs, and more hot springs can be found in Ouray. The property offers access to Alder Creek and our beaver ponds down in the canyon. The fields are blanketed with Iris and clematis flowers in May and June and other wild flowers throughout the summer including pentstemon, larkspur, and wild roses. There are patches of scrub oak and fields with cinquefoil bushes in the camping areas, and as you go down in the canyon there’s aspen groves, blue spruce, and ponderosa pines. As mentioned before, we have delicious farm fresh duck eggs from our happy free-ranging ducks!

It's surrounded by small farm lands you can bike around and take pictures of different crops. The property has chickens, goats, and a horse. Their outside shower and bathroom are super nice.

We had a great stay here! The hosts were so kind and were so helpful! The bathrooms were clean and it was such a fun spot with all the farm animals around! If you’re a very light sleeper the chickens in the morning could be a little loud but other than that it was so great!

It was pretty close to perfect experience. The bathrooms and showers were clean, heated and private. The tent sites were flat. The location was about a 30 minute drive to Ouray, CO and Black Canyon Gunnison. The location was also 8 minutes to downtown Montrose which had every store you would want. The host Audrey was friendly. The cost was reasonable.

The scenery was beautiful and the host was very communicative. But, these sites are not meant for 20' campers. Very tight lots of half buried pointy rocks and if the weather isn't perfect the road in and out is sketchy at best. It would be fine for tear drop, pop up or even tent camping however.

2 nights at Coworking Space with Mountain Views

Stayed for 2 nights in this hipcamp and wished we could have stayed longer! Host was great and our site was perfect. They have a great location near Montrose and Black Canyon of the Gunnison. We just drove cross country and the bathroom/shower were better than any other campsite we have stayed at so far. Site we had was very level and we loved being right next to their pond. Would definitely consider staying again if we come back to the area!

1 night at Tater's Black Canyon Campground

This was a great site! I was worried about being on the north rim of Black Canyon because the “main” stuff is on the south rim but IT WAS SO GREAT! We did the south rim the day before and hit the North Rim morning after (views are 10x better!!) Definitely recommend Tater’s campground, so clean, so comfortable, so serene. Star gazing, stunning views, seclusion, and sweet pets 🩵 Traci + Chris have done a wonderful job.
