Your site is overlooking the Sangre de Christo mountain range. The land is Alpine desert with sagebrush and ground cactus and incredible star gazing. There are 2 great hiking trails within a couple miles. There are 3 hot springs within 30 minutes. The Great sand dunes national park is within 1hr. The San Luis valley offers, hiking, mountain biking, ATV trail, Horse back riding, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, rafting, refuges for wildlife watching. New for 2024, The flushable toilet and shower are now operational. The shower house is located in the center of the loop with sites 1,2,3 on the south side of the building. It has an on demand water heater, there is also a a flushable toilet located in the same space. An important note about the toilet, Do Not flush anything other than toilet paper please. DO NOT flush feminine hygiene products, napkins or hand wipes or anything other than toilet paper. These type of things plug and burn up the pump while pumping out the tank. Less than one hour drive to the Royal Gorge, Pueblo reservoir, and other local attractions. Endless hiking and exploring of the canyons on the 160 acres of private property. Bring your binoculars to to enhance the vistas from camp, or even a spotting scope for long range game viewing. Golfers Driving range is great fun. Feel free to smack the provided golf balls into the abyss for max distance. Also the golf ball scavenger hunting in the canyon below can keep the kids busy for hours. Truly a destination campsite, worth a few nights stay. This place is Sweet!!! Notes -No fires what so ever! Fire danger is extremely high in this area. - Although we are only forty miles from the Sand Dunes park, it is a four hour drive to get there, so maybe not the best area to stay if the dunes are on your list. - Days in the summer can get pretty hot and shade is hard to come by, so plan a day trip to Florence river park, (about 30 minutes drive)and hop in the Arkansas river and cool off. - this is a wilderness area and all Colorado wildlife is present.

We brought out wolf pup 16bhsbl travel trailer out to camps the site is huge with plenty of space for 2-3 other families. The directions were easy to follow, however there was one sign that was missing as per the written instructions. One of our party members missed the gate because of the missing sign. The entrance to the camp sign was a little rutted out and you should feel comfortable off roading with a trailer.

What a great place to stay! The campsite I stayed at was super private, yet easy walking distance to the (clean and functional) bathrooms, showers, and incredibly well-stocked kitchen area. The views are beautiful, sitting at the base of the Great Sand Dunes National Park. This was a perfect place to stay and very close to Zapata Falls and other great hiking spots. The hostess was super friendly, too. Overall, I highly recommend this beautiful, private and serene Hipcamp.

this was an awesome spot! i don’t think there were any other campers when we went so it felt like we truly had the whole place to ourselves! the mountain view was absolutely incredible, and the open night sky was spectacular to see! our dogs absolutely loved it, didn’t want to leave! temperature was great, didn’t need electric hookups. was a little windy, but nothing some bungee cables couldn’t fix! the host was also very kind and detailed with instructions, and allowed an early check in. overall this was spot was awesome and i would highly recommend!

This was a perfect stopover on our way to Great Sand Dunes National Park! The camp was very well maintained and the directions were easy to follow. Tim and Lori were amazing hosts! They greeted us at the gate upon arrival and drove us to our site. Lori gave us homemade chocolate chip cookies, doggie bags with treats, a goodie bag for my kids to play with and fish food! They were available whenever we had any questions. The property is beautiful and spot 4 was the perfect spot for my family of 5 and our 2 dogs! We absolutely recommend this camp and 100% plan to come and stay again!
