Jake Stephens Performance Horses is a working horse ranch. It's located in Glade Park, Colorado, which you have to travel through the Colorado National Monument and a Red Rock Tunnel to get to. The 70-acre ranch is located in the middle of the funnest and most beautiful places on the planet. Activities include horseback riding through the mountains, canoeing on one of the reservoirs, mountain biking one of the numerous trails, hiking to see some of the most awesome wildlife anywhere, or just camping in one of the cabins or tent camping on the side of a beautiful Red Rock canyon. PLEASE CHECK IN BEFORE 9 PM. We are less than 2 miles from I-70, We are just outside of the really small town of Mack, Colorado. We are 2 miles from the Colorado River, Horse Thief Canyon, and many other outdoor activities. Here you will find world class mountain biking. Bear Family Ranch is a secluded and hidden ranch, you cannot see the ranch from the roadway. You will see incredible views of the Colorado National Monument, Grand Mesa, and Mount Garfield. When the sun sets, shinning its sun rays on the Colorado Monument the shading of the monument brings the monument to life. There are 3 full hook-up RV sites and 8 dry WALK-IN 8'X8' raised pad camping sites (the walk is roughly 200 feet). Walk around the seasonal pond, explore the property, hike a mile to the Mack Wash. You can mountain bike around the property. It's quiet with birds flying and chirping. This is a very private and secluded location with lots of space! Bring your own camping toilet or use our outhouse with a camping toilet inside. Because it's a working ranch, we prefer to familiarize you and your guests to the ranch and show you the route to the site as we have exposed irrigation, irrigation ditches, and a pond. We prefer not to fish you out of the pond. LOL LIMIITED SEWER (If you need to dump grey or black from your RV tank, please help us keep our leach field from being saturated, If you need to dump grey or black water from your RV, we recommend the really nice rest area in Fruita. The Colorado Welcome Center Rest Area is off of I-70 at EXIT 19, which has a FREE dump station. We are on a leach field, no paper products including toilet paper into the sewer, please and thank you. We must check you in, to familiarize you and your guests to the Ranch. Ater check-in you are our guests; you may come and go as you need. We respect your privacy, but if you need anything please contact us or go to the main house. Being a family ranch, we are always working and vigilant of our animals and the security of the Bear Family Ranch.

Absolutely fantastic stay! I was greeted by the host upon arrival, and they couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful. They gave me a full lay of the land—showing me where I’d be staying, where I could walk on their property, local trails to check out, and great places to visit nearby. Grand junction is only 20 mins away so this was PERFECT! Once I got settled in and explored, holy cow—this property is stunning. The trails are not only beautiful but also really well maintained, raked, and clearly marked, which was such a treat for me and my dog to enjoy. They’ve also created the cutest tent camping sites, and you can tell so much care goes into keeping the whole property welcoming and enjoyable. The amenities were just as described, and I was able to easily plug in and charge up all my appliances without any issues. Between the scenery, the setup, and the kindness of the hosts, I honestly couldn’t have asked for more. I’d definitely come back here, especially with a group for tent camping. Excellent property, wonderful people—highly recommend and can’t wait to return!

Everything was great, nothing was missing, very private, beautiful location and AMAZING hosts. I took my two dogs with me and they could not have been welcomed more - often off leash when walking the ranch. If you have an occasion to stay near Grand Junction, I would absolutely recommend staying at the Bear Family Ranch!

Easy to find and easy to camp, the Double M Ranch is the perfect location for adventures across the Grand Junction area and up to the Mesa. We really enjoyed the solitude (even with active farming operations and the airport nearby). It is exactly what we look for in a HipCamp, with the added bonus of water and power! The long view is what attracted us to the site, and it will be what brings us back next time we come to Grand Junction.

Lovely spot overlooking the hills & farmland surrounding Grand Junction. Very close to town and perfect for our needs - we were renting an Airstream Bambi to test it out for a possible future purchase. Needed to be in an easy location & flat spot for Bambi host to deliver, and for us to get used to the van. View from site was expansive and we enjoyed watching the planes come and go from the airport. The Highline canal at the end of the road is great for a walk or bike, we enjoyed our 90 minute 'workout'. Kelly & Chris have their site set up very nicely with picnic table, water and electricity, & with the Bambi's awning, we had enough shade, even in the middle of the day. They've also planted trees which will be good for shade & privacy in the future. Highly recommended if you are passing through and looking for somewhere quiet & easy.

What a beautiful place! We have an 18' trailer that had plenty of room. The sites sit right on a mellow stretch of the river. We waded in the water for hours. There is also a stocked fishing pond. My sons caught 10 fish in about 2 hours. So fun for them. The icing on the cake was all the animals that wandered the property. Just know you will likely be camping with others nearby, but the separation is adequate. The only downsides: our entire campsite was literally crawling with ants. They were everywhere. There is ZERO shade. We were cooking in early July. Thankfully we had a pop up canopy to help.
