We began this venture in 2012 by purchasing 35 acres overlooking a 7000 acre homestead. We are located on the beautiful eastern plains of Colorado southeast of Denver. Rolling hills dotted with Ponderosa pines that encourage wildlife to settle in. Pikes Peak, Longs Peak and Mount Evans all visible on clear days. We have 35 acres and raise alpaca’s, chickens, cats and dogs as well as a large garden. We are totally off grid and enjoy life in the home my husband built using trees he cut down and milled on his sawmill. We lived on the property in a 400sq ft cottage while building the house and this cottage is now available to rent. Water is available outside and the outhouse is just a few steps away. It comes equipped with a woodturning stove you can use to cook on. We added the Bijou Tree House to our options a couple years ago! It is a one room cabin (sleeps 2) with an incredible picture window that frames Pikes Peak beautifully. It is nestle among some old Ponderosa Pines; sports a cute but tiny wood burning stove; bar table in front of the window; deck with seating and a propane camp chef 2 burner stove. A hammock is available for use and private outhouse just a few feet away. Across the gulley is the new Sawmill Cabin built under the canopy of Jim's sawmill. It is small, and can sleep 3 with a unique bunk over a queen sized platform bed. A small deck, fire pit all under a covered open space. More kids? Bring a tent! there’s room! Numerous tent sites are available all within easy walking to your car. An outhouse is close by. We love sharing our story and our home and the beautiful place God has gifted us with people from all over the world and hope to host you as well. Come Camp; and relax. Secluded! Cool view on the distant horizon that was about a five minute walk away, and at night looking East over the blinking lights of hundreds (thousands?) of windmills. Not many places you will see this! Dark sky was also good as the Milky Way was directly overhead. Antelope also were around.

It was absolutely beautiful and extremely peaceful! Jamie went above and beyond in communication And making sure she was available to show us to the site! Jamie and her young son showed us the way, he did bike wheelies and double checked to make sure we we’re good while they showed us to our campsite. We had such a great stay at Highway 59! The sunset and sunrise were incredible, the directions and ease of getting there were very simple, the site was level, highway noise was minimal, and there was plenty of room for our dog to exercise. Kerry was both communicative and accommodating. We were quickly back on the highway the next morning after fueling up and grabbing a coffee and breakfast burrito at the station right at the on ramp. We will definitely be staying here again in the future!

The pasture site was really nice and had some fantastic sunsets. Our host was very communicative and their partner was helpful as well when we pulled through the wrong gate! The sounds of goats and turkeys was a real treat. The two tips we have: we have would be to make sure to go to the dropped pin provided by the host via HipCamp; we put in the address and went through said wrong gate but the pin is exactly where you need to be. Just give a look ahead going through the field, there are a handful of small cactus but totally manageable if you go slow. We will most definitely utilize this camp again! Thank you!

Weekend Trip to Falkor Ranch

I definitely recommend this place. So peaceful. Tom & Diane made sure we felt welcomed and comfortable. They are very knowledgeable and so kind. Tom offered us a tarp for the bottom of our tent, we very much appreciate it. We were passing through for work & it was a wonderful break from being on the road for my husband, me, & our 2 year old son. Our son loves the outdoors so he absolutely loved it here. Their alpacas & goats were so sweet, my son would go and say hi to them often. But their dog Titus won our hearts over, he’s so huge and so loving. I really enjoyed spending time with him while we sat on the grass under some tree shade. We had access to a restroom and shower as well as a room that was like a kitchen with a sink where you can wash some dishes if needed. It is shared with other guest, which is not an issue. This is such a lovely place. And I hope to one day come across this one again. Thank you Tom & Diane for everything.

We had a nice time camping for two nights on Jamie's property. The campsite is well maintained with a unique view of the wind turbines. We liked hearing the roosters throughout our trip, and we had a visit during the day from their sweet doggos. We brought our own firewood and had a campfire and some incredible star gazing. We explored the paint mines, which were just a 5 minute drive away. Jamie and her family are super nice and communicative if needed. An A+ experience, thanks again, Jamie!

Jamie was a very friendly and helpful host. The location was perfect for visiting the paint mine near Calhan, and there also happened to be a county fair at the time of my visit which was a lot of fun. I would recommend this location for anyone who’s interested in exploring the area.
