Located 2.5 miles from the famous Paint Mines Interpretive Park and Trails and 4 miles from the El Paso County Fairgrounds that hold many events all summer long. The town of Calhan is just 4 miles north of this property. There, you will find the local grocery store, restaurants, gas stations, and dollar store for any of your needs. Enjoy seclusion and beautiful views of the rolling hillside and wildlife all while being sheltered amongst our mature trees. All of our campsites are tucked in the trees to give you privacy and shelter from the Colorado breeze. Bring your bikes and ride to the paint mines or explore the property on our trails and stay close. We have the best tasting well water so feel free to fill up your water jugs at the hydrant closest to the chicken coops!! Come see our dream in the works and soak up some serenity! Dogs are welcome, however they must be dog friendly, trained and well behaved. They are free to roam but chasing calves and causing trouble with other animals will not be tolerated. We also have dogs, but will do our best to have them put up when you arrive with adequate communication about you ETA . No bathroom facilities at the moment. Also, no fires unless approved by us! When you arrive, we will happily check you in and direct you to your camp site. Please feel free to ask us about anything you may need, but we will not bother you otherwise! We hope to see you soon! Jamie is very gracious, knowledgeable and kind. This location is right next to the Paint Mines and a great place to say after your hike. The location is very quiet and great for star and moon gazing. This site also sits adjacent to a wind(mill) farm which is a great unique landscape. Very nice, safe place to stay!

Secluded! Cool view on the distant horizon that was about a five minute walk away, and at night looking East over the blinking lights of hundreds (thousands?) of windmills. Not many places you will see this! Dark sky was also good as the Milky Way was directly overhead. Antelope also were around.

It was absolutely beautiful and extremely peaceful! Jamie went above and beyond in communication And making sure she was available to show us to the site! Jamie and her young son showed us the way, he did bike wheelies and double checked to make sure we we’re good while they showed us to our campsite. Couldnt ask for a better or sweeter welcome :) We slept wonderfully and it was extremely peaceful! 15/10!!!

The pasture site was really nice and had some fantastic sunsets. Our host was very communicative and their partner was helpful as well when we pulled through the wrong gate! The sounds of goats and turkeys was a real treat. The two tips we have: we have would be to make sure to go to the dropped pin provided by the host via HipCamp; we put in the address and went through said wrong gate but the pin is exactly where you need to be. Just give a look ahead going through the field, there are a handful of small cactus but totally manageable if you go slow. We will most definitely utilize this camp again! Thank you!

We had a nice time camping for two nights on Jamie's property. The campsite is well maintained with a unique view of the wind turbines. We liked hearing the roosters throughout our trip, and we had a visit during the day from their sweet doggos. We brought our own firewood and had a campfire and some incredible star gazing. We explored the paint mines, which were just a 5 minute drive away. Jamie and her family are super nice and communicative if needed. An A+ experience, thanks again, Jamie!

Jamie was a very friendly and helpful host. The location was perfect for visiting the paint mine near Calhan, and there also happened to be a county fair at the time of my visit which was a lot of fun. I would recommend this location for anyone who’s interested in exploring the area.

A peaceful night sleeping under the big sky of eastern Colorado. The host was very responsive and kind when a few goats got out of the pen. We saw a hawks nest nearby and enjoyed the quiet of the pasture land. One of the neighbors played loud country radio at 1AM but we weren't bothered as we have noise cancelling earbuds. We would recommend bringing these just incase. Otherwise, we felt solitude and reprieve from 3 days of driving on the road.

Very private-feeling spot. There are natural barriers around the area so we felt comfortable letting our dog explore. The only downside is very very little shade, so bring your own. Jamie is extremely friendly and kind. We’ll likely be back!

Cool place to camp, and not too far from COS! It's far enough out to still feel like an escape. The wind turbines create a unique atmosphere and make a cool whooshing sound. Loved that we were able to have a campfire! Jamie is a great host and made sure we were all set. We unfortunately had to cut our stay short due to severe thunderstorms, but we still enjoyed the time we spent and will be back for sure!

I loved camping on Jamie’s land near the Painted Mines! They have a great property with a nice camp spot to park your vehicle and set up a tent. We had a Gazelle Overland Tent that fit perfectly along with our camp toilet with privacy pop up tent. I had my 4 year old border collie/cattle dog mix with me so it was an absolute JOY to camp here with their family dogs. My dog loved playing chase with them and the small patches of snow he could army crawl in. The land is nice and flat so no need to worry about leveling off anything. Cold and fresh water available by the chickens. I was able to fill up my 5 gallon Jerrycan for the stay which was super convenient! The hosts are very hospitable and a joy to coordinate and communicate with. Definitely recommend this Hipcamp to fellow travelers!
