Butane fire rings allowed on private property during a fire ban . Camp anywhere on 60 acres. In one direction there are rolling meadow. Another rocky outcropping. Look to the south and you’ll see the BLM land that shares my fence line. If you want access to town you’re there. You choose how you want to feel. In the woods, in the forest, on huge rocks, flat land or turn around and see CR 1 ( 1/4 mile driveway). Forty five minutes west of Colorado Springs, ten miles to Divide for grocers. One half mile to ice, gas, pizza etc.  It is first come first serve with the sites.  Two that are near trees for large RVs.  One up higher works for pull thru trailers.  Plenty of room in the pasture.  I just got my first negative review referring to it being dry prairie land.  Some  pictures are from late last summer..  We haven’t had enough rain yet for it to green up.  Also it can be windy.

New for 2024, The flushable toilet and shower are now operational. The shower house is located in the center of the loop with sites 1,2,3 on the south side of the building. In 2021, we were featured in USA Todays Ten Best for star gazing! My property has 360 degree mountains views with the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range as our back yard. Nearby you can find many different trail systems for all kinds of outdoor enthusiasts. From hiking to jeeping, ATV or dirt biking and equestrians - you can find it all! You will be surrounded by BLM land, BACA land, and Wildlife Refuge just two miles away. High up in the San Luis Valley, the Colorado Sports Ranch and Refuge occupies over 200 acres. Joyful Journey Hot Springs is 10 minutes away, and Great Sand Dunes National Park is visible from the property. The property includes a small garlic farm (High Desert Garlic) with garlic products for sale in season. The ranch is uniquely suited to athletes and other fitness enthusiasts with a 5k running/walking trail and a well stocked indoor/outdoor gym with kettlebells, TRX equipment, squat and bench racks, plyo boxes, bands, rowing and cycling machines, basketball hoop, and all manner of agility equipment. Gym cost is $10 per person or $25 for a group of four. Gym users must sign a liability waiver. The camping area is about 1/4 mile from the main house and about 300 meters from the rest room and potable water. The highest concentration of 14,000 foot peaks in Colorado is in this area with trail heads in nearby Crestone. Rock climbers and rock hounds will enjoy Penitente Canyon about 40 minutes west. White water rafting and all manner of paddling are available on the Arkansas River in nearby Salida, as is access to some of the finest mountain biking in the world, particularly the Monarch Crest Trail. World class fly fishing can be found on the Arkansas River, and Blue Mesa Reservoir is home to all varieties of trout, pike, and kokanee salmon. We are happy to arrange tours with local guides and adventure providers. The Colorado Sports Ranch and Refugee is a working, off-grid, sustainable homestead. Horses, goats, chickens, ducks, turkeys, dogs, cats, and a donkey all share the property. Animal tours are available.

Feel free to smack the provided golf balls into the abyss for max distance. Also the golf ball scavenger hunting in the canyon below can keep the kids busy for hours. Truly a destination campsite, worth a few nights stay. This place is Sweet!!! Notes -No fires what so ever! Fire danger is extremely high in this area. - Although we are only forty miles from the Sand Dunes park, it is a four hour drive to get there, so maybe not the best area to stay if the dunes are on your list. - Days in the summer can get pretty hot and shade is hard to come by, so plan a day trip to Florence river park, (about 30 minutes drive)and hop in the Arkansas river and cool off. - this is a wilderness area and all Colorado wildlife is present.

We had a great time staying out here this past weekend. It was very windy and rainy, but that is to be expected. The property is very calming and open, which is great for the astrophotography we were able to take. Clouds made it difficult, but that isn't Christine's fault! The water from the pump is very rusty, and we opted not to drink/use it. However, there is a Dollar General 6 miles up the road, so it was no big deal! Would definitely recommend staying here.

This place was absolutely amazing! Josh was very accommodating with our last minute booking. The campsite was clean and the bell tent with 2 cots and a futon was super comfy! The propane fire pit, hammock, table with an umbrella and driving range were a lovely addition and the view was absolutely spectacular. Truly an A++ glamping experience! Highly recommended!!!

We really enjoyed this campsite as it sits at the top of a bluff with amazing views and star gazing, it is a very quiet campground and the RV park close by was also very quiet. It has a nice clean bath house within a short walk. The campsite doesn't always have fire pits out, so you will want to check with the host if campfires are a possibility before you go. Host was responsive and helpful, and they provide a phone number for questions when you arrive at the site.

I had such a wonderful time on Lydia’s land. The views are incredibly beautiful and serene. Although it rained most of the time I was there, I stayed warm and dry in the tent. The bed was super comfy, and the shower was HOT. The host family is lovely. I definitely recommend!
