Cloud 11: Secluded & Close to Town

Experience serene seclusion with breathtaking mountain views at our property, perfectly nestled in nature yet just a short walk from town.  The property is 8 acres and includes a primary residence.  There are many amazing locations to park a camper or van or even pitch a tent.  Property is surrounded by empty land so very secluded but still close to town.  Adjacent to the Mineral Belt Trail and easy access to East Side trail system.

We live in a house on the property with our 3 year old son, and Buddy the dog, who will be very excited to meet you and might come check on you through out your stay.  He loves leftover campfire hot dogs.  

Please be aware that this is old mining land and there is mining debris and also glass on the property.  We work hard to pick it up and repurpose into art projects but it seems to be a never ending battle.  If that is of concern this might not be the property for you.  However feel free to bring a metal detector and your geology books and you can find a lot of fun treasures on the land if that is your thing!

Windy ridge, 3000 year old trees sit like acient gods looking down into the valley.  The campsite is the closest place to camp next to this area.  Only a 15 min walk.

Propane Fire pit.  Its just not camping without a fire!  This is the only type of fire pit allowed during a fire ban.

There are  24,000 acres of BLM public land and also The White River National Forest with over 3,500 square miles, both with thousands of miles of recreation trails for mountain biking, hiking, ATVing, MOTO X Dirtbiking, SidebySide UTVing, backcountry skiing and snowboarding, 4x4 Jeeping/Mudding, Jeep, Bronco, Land Rovers, OffRoad, Bike, Hike and snowmobiling.  Walk out of your tent, your RV or my cabin and you are in BLM and The White River National Forest.  Plenty of flat, shaded ground with water and electric available.  The biggest shade trees in Eagle County, firepits, and a creek with pond and waterfall with sand beach await. Tennessee Creek Rd is part of the Leadville 100 race course (road does remain open during the races). During winter the same section of road are groomed snowmobile trails, so you can ski in or snowmobile in to the cabin.

Blankets, bed linens, towels and pillows provided for guests comfort and convenience. (Summer months only! Winter months guests need to provide their own bedding & pillows i.e. sleeping bag, as cleaning services do not have access. ❄ Winter Vehicle Access Disclaimer

Tennessee Creek Road typically becomes impassable to wheeled vehicles between Halloween and Thanksgiving and generally remains closed until Memorial Day. Depending on snowfall, this may occur earlier or later in the season.

During times when the road is snow-covered and impassable, guests may access the cabin only by snowshoe, backcountry skis, or snowmobile. A public parking lot, which is plowed and maintained throughout the winter, is available for guest parking before using these alternative methods of access.

🛷 Trail Conditions: About a 2-mile stretch of Tennessee Creek Road is groomed during winter for skiing and snowmobiling up to Forest Road 103. Beyond that point, the road is ungroomed and may have deep powder or snow drifts, making travel more challenging.

🚰 Water: Running water is not available during the winter months, as water storage is winterized. Guests must either bring their own water or melt snow.

Granby Mountain Horse Ranch

Horse ranch and nature conservation area.  We have a pond you can float in and horses and mules who live here, as well as elk and pronghorn, and a bear.  Dogs are welcome! We love dogs! Off leash is fine as long as they don’t chase the horses (and keep in mind that the mules do chase dogs).  There is a gas firepit and a gas grill, sitting areas, a port a potty.  There is a flat graded area for tents with a picnic table.  We ask that there are no fires except for gas (we are still traumatized by the East Troublesome Fire that was 200,000 plus acres. We did not burn here and we’d like to keep it that way.  We also ask that there is no loud music because this is the wild animals’ home first, and the antelope and elk have new babies.  We are very close to Granby for the grocery store, restaurants, and the Granby Flying Heels Rodeo.  We are nearby to the west entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park, Grand Lake, Hot Sulfur Springs Resort, Lake Granby and Fraser/Winter Park and all that Grand County Colorado has to offer.  Also close by is Granby Ranch for downhill mountain biking and golf.  We are about two hours from Denver. Gondola Village at Holy Cross

Gondola Village at Holy Cross is a little sanctuary in the mountains between Vail, Leadville, and Aspen. There is little nearby except for the next door Holy Cross Wilderness, with a lifetime worth of trails, lakes, and peaks to explore -- all only two hours from Denver. Gondola Village at Holy Cross has direct access that many dream of to Colorado's water wilderness, and some of the best backcountry skiing, hiking, scrambling, backpacking, and fly fishing in the Summit Vail Eagle Aspen area. 

Our modern alpine cabins are some of the cutest cabins you'll step foot in, complete with a mix of amenities to make your wilderness stay a bit more comfortable.

Gondola Village at Holy Cross is at 11.5k feet above sea level (believed to be the highest altitude Hipcamp in the world). Gondola Village at Holy Cross has been featured on Discovery Channel’s Reclaimed, Airbnb's OMG! Fund, Arch Digest, and the site of many product shoots. The managers of this property have worked in yurt, ADU, and cabin construction and hospitality for many years and have brought together some of the best Scandinavian and modern design with a mining town aesthetic.

The trip up can be challenging (only off-road, winch / locker equipped vehicles dare try the 759 Holy Cross City jeep road, others will need to hike in at least 2.5 miles), but the views and cabins are well worth the trek. Snow free season tends to be June 15 an October 30 annually, and outside of this guests should be prepared for up to 11 miles of over-snow travel with no cars allowed (a bit less depending on snow coverage in the shoulder seasons from May 21 - early June and late October - November 21)

Buckeye's Cozy Romantic Cabins

Buckeye's Cabin is located 4 miles outside the Town of Leadville on the upper most reaches of the Arkansas river headwaters on highway 91 as you head towards Freemont Pass. Itis just at the bottom of the pass at the point where Mt. Elbert, Colorado's highest peak and Mt Massive come into view. It is part of an old ranch that sits on a gold mining claim and is an authentic old, comfy, cozy cabin. 

Huge picture windows look out onto Mt. Elbert, Colorado's highest peak, and the Beaver Ponds of the very upper headwaters of the mighty Arkansas River. Sit by the woodstove with glass door and be mesmerized by the crackling flame. Turn on the satellite TV with surround sound and lose yourself in time.

The reading room is a quiet place to escape on the feinting bench with a good book.

Sit back in the comfy antique recliner and watch the flame in the woodstove through the glass door, as the aspen leaf's flicker in the wind outside the picture windows that look out onto Mt.
