Cute little cabin nestled in Tahoe National forest . This little gem is on an acre of land surrounded by national forest land. Close enough to Lake Tahoe to get to but also away from the Tahoe chaos.
Host lives on property , but will most likely be out and about most of the day. There are two neighbors but both own 20 acres so you can not see them, feels very private.
The front of the property where the cabin is located there will be some highway noise being close to highway 20 , especially during a busy weekend. you can’t hear highway noise while in the cabin and towards the back of the land.
However it is nice to be so close to highway 20 because it leads to several different destinations. ( west : Nevada city. east: towards Tahoe, and both directions there are soo many lakes/ rivers )
Tiny house: •Full sized futon downstairs and king sized mattress in loft. Electric fireplace, all the game boards , cards, chess, fire pit, projector for movies if requested!!!
•Additional guests are welcome to pitch a tent on the land if needed.
•Hot plate, toaster oven, mini fridge, kitchen appliances, coffee (French press, drip, mocha pot). Black stone grill outside. Fire pit , check if fires are allowed during booking
•Separate bathroom with compost toilet or a short walk to outhouse. Outdoor shower in the making, message if available.
FUN: •Lake Spaulding is about 1/4 mile hike down from the property. There is a boat launch and plenty of room to park it on the property if you want to bring a boat. Also have two paddle boards you are welcome to use.
Rivers/lakes/swimming holes: •emerald pools, crystal clear water , cliff jumping , waterfalls . 10 minute drive •south yuba river 5-15 minutes depending on the spot (ask for recommendations ) •bowman lake road connects to several lakes . 10 minute drive •lake valley reservoir , 10 minute drive •donner lake, rent kayaks, paddle boards or a boat. 20 minutes • eagle lakes rd swimming hole about 5 minutes •truckee, the cutest town with fun shops, restaurants and bars, 25 minutes . Frolic (property name) is a wild place with nature running the show. It is quiet and beautiful. Usually cooler because it is right on the water. The dock goes out to the 4 acre pond which is stocked with Bass. You will need to keep food inside of the Cabin/Sauna because we share the space with the animals that live here. The pond is shared with one other neighbor, so you may see other people playing on the pond or hear nearby activity through the trees. It's a great place to hang your hammock and bring a good book or birdwatch.
Frolic has been an adventure for me in Saying Yes to life and the rewarding challenges it brings. I fell in love with the huge grama oaks, the pristine pond and the feral overgrown everything. It has been a workin' progress and lots of time to sweat, craft, pause and listen. The property is shaped like a pint glass, running north to south, with a lovely bowl the pond sits in and an ancient meadow up behind the cabin full of apples 🍎 & pears 🍐. Up the hill, a hotter zone, more exposed with its own beauty, where we live. On the occasion, one of us may come down to the pond for a swim, especially when it's too hot up top. We will be respectful but likely just need to cool down.
Frolic has been a great teacher in reminding me to PLAY, relax and go with the flow. I hope you can find the same joy and rejuvenation here.

We live on over 30 private, beautiful acres with footpath access to Rollins Lake. (3 minute walk from the dome or house, and 10-15 minutes from the cabin) where most summer days here, are spent swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, fishing ect., down at the water. The remarkable property is very hilly with pines and oaks. You can follow our driveway to the bottom and access the beginning of The Bear River which has a nice hiking trail alongside it or drive 8 minutes to the nearest boat ramp and 10 minutes to the town of Colfax where you will find gas, groceries, and restaurants. 10 minutes to Intersate 80 in Colfax. Feels far away, yet close to services and the interstate.
We have a beautiful spot where you will not see any neighbors, so it is peaceful and private with gorgeous 360-degree views. It is also very safe! Bask in nature, quiet, and privacy! You can hoot and holler and have a great time!
In summer there is a 3-night minimum for the cabin and dome. Occasionally a two day midweek will pop up on the schedule last minute. To see correct pricing, enter your dates and number of adventurers, as they can fluctuate with holidays, weekends. Prices are decreased midweek.

Colfax offers many restaurants, shops, stores and nearby Rollins Lake is great for boating, fishing, water skiing or swimming. The American River canyon offers kayaking, white water rafting, mountain biking, hiking and fishing. In the surrounding countryside, one can find many small vineyards & wineries, an occasional brewery or roadside fruit stand. It can be both sunny and cool here since we are located in the foothills, above the fog and at snowline.
The Colfax Amtrak stop is only a 10 minute walk from the house, there's also a Greyhound line that stops in town.

We are a small privately owned campground ( on the outskirts of Placerville. The property features 86.5 secluded Tahoe like acres with beautiful year-round Weber Creek. The camp sites are placed along the creek or the bluff overlooking the creek. We have traditional dirt camping, canvas tents on platforms, teepees and glamping tents for those that want the comforts of home. We’ve been told that we have a “family camp” vibe. We are a great place for families wanting a safe environment for their kids but also several group sites for those that want to hang out together with multiple families. We are also a great base site for those wilderness enthusiasts with access to all the El Dorado National Forest including Desolation but want a hot shower at the end of the day.
We have a lodge that is stocked with games and a ping pong table. The lodge has a microwave, Keurig machine and a hot water kettle for those hot drinks (BYO Cups).We have several tables set up for those that want to eat inside as well as multiple picnic tables along the side of the lodge with overhead protection. We have electricity at the at the lodge for small appliances and charging phones. We have a compressor on site to blow up your air mattresses or float toys. We’ve been told that our bathrooms are the “cleanest” ever and have changing tables and diaper pails. We offer nice flushing toilets and hot showers! We have many extra amenities including a compressor to use for your air mattresses,
For outdoor activities we have basketball, volleyball, pickleball and cornhole not to mention the playground with swing set . We have hiking trails throughout the property. Our highlight is a camp fire bowl with bench seating with a stage to display camper talent which is perfect for the evening fire and roasting s’mores (bring the fixings).
The creek starts out in spring looking like a rushing river featuring many fishing and swimming holes. As the summer progresses the water level falls but is still great for water play and fishing.
We have propane BBQs (we provide the propane for BBQs) located throughout the property. We also have a propane grill and charcoal BBQ located in the common area for all to use. There is a dutch oven pit also in the fire bowl area.
We do not allow wood fires at the individual sites but each site has a propane firepit for ambiance (not cooking) that requires you to purchase a 20 lb. propane cannister on site (add in extras) or pay cash on site.
No internet service. There is limited internet only available for purchases at the setore.
We require a 3 night minimum for the major holidays - Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day. We do exclusive events so you may need to explore multiple weekends to find the right reservation.
We are located in the foothills so we are a short hop to many local attractions that include river rafting, gold mines, wineries and historical towns with great eating establishments. Tahoe is less than an hour away and there a many hiking trails within 20-30 minutes.
We have a limited number of items to rent i.e, tents, cots, camp stoves, etc. We rent a battery pack for those that use a cpap. We also have a small store on site for those items you forgot and a good selection of ice cream and ice. We take venmo or cash.

This is the only rental on the property, so it is super private. You have your own separate driveway, and the owner's home is on the other side of the land, ensuring a very private stay.

Weekend Trip to Wisdom eco-preserve
We had a great time at the Serenity Cabin. It was beautiful and secluded in the woods with everything we needed. We brought a cast iron pan with us to cook outside on the fire which I would recommend to anyone in the future! The bathroom was a short walk across the meadow. The mosquitos were around but once we lit a citronella candle and started a fire they did not bug us at all (haha). We enjoyed activities nearby Nevada City, Scotts Flat Reservoir, and the Yuba River at Edwards Crossing Bridge as well. Adam has created a beautiful property that is very lovely and relaxing.

Greg was super welcoming and made us feel right at home! There are a couple of campsites near by but we lucked out and had the space to ourselves. Very family friendly, our one year old had a blast and we will definitely be coming back k here again!

Weekend Trip to Om Sweet Om Farm
The space was beautiful, the hosts were kind and the animals - omg! It's a whole menagerie. The place is tucked away in the pines yet close enough to Nevada City for an evening on the town. Loved it.

Communicate with, and was immediately at ease seeing the accommodations as described. Having a bathhouse at a Hipcamp was a true luxury, with a soak at sunset. The glamping tent was clean, warm and had wonderful deck to have coffee and enjoy the views! Loved this stay! Can’t wait to come back!

The cabin is perfect size for a couple and had all the creature comforts you need. We brought our two dogs and they loved being outside and exploring in the woods while we enjoyed some porch reading. Host was responsive and friendly.

Weekend Trip to Cozy Luxury Yurt @ Lazy Dog Ranch
We had an absolute blast staying in the yurt. It was extremely clean, warm and cozy. Big snuggly bed with lots of pillows and fluffy bedding. It had a perfect little kitchenette and fridge and very nice attached bathroom/shower. Sitting on the little porch looking out at the green fields and tree covered mountains was absolutely wonderful. It was very close to Nevada City (less than 15 min drive) but felt much farther away. It was very quiet and peaceful. The host David was extremely friendly and hospitable. He even contacted us before our check in to see what time we'd be arriving and if we needed anything special/extra. Great guy. We even got occasional visits from his sweet dog Billie Jean (after he confirmed that would be ok with that--we're dog people so we loved it). If this type of lodging is up your alley, I can't say enough good things about our stay here. We come back to GV/NC fairly often (I grew up there) and we'll absolutely stay in the yurt every time moving forward. It's so much better (and more affordable!!!) than any hotels in the area. Amazing weekend--THANK YIOU DAVID!!!

The dome was super cozy! We loved it! The lake is close by but I will say after the lake you do have to walk up a steep hill to get back up to the dome which I was huffing and puffing. Over all I would recommend and stay here again.

3 nights at 4,000 Ft Closer to Heaven
The view from the cabin was striking. You can still see the fireline marking the western edge of the Caldor fire in 2021. Now going on five seasons afterward it is heartening to see the forest begin recovery. Sunset reveals the coastal range in the distance, then darkness brings out both the distant city lights and the stars overhead. It's quite a view. The cabin has a huge comfy bed and a breakfast nook, but we used the picnic table outside for meals. The weather was perfect. You don't expect a flush toilet at a hipcamp site, so that was a nice surprise! Had a very restful couple days that we needed so much.

Really beautiful and well kept yurt, we had a great time. My kids loved it. The bathroom and sauna were beautiful and comfortable as well. The grounds could use a little TLC but the host was very responsive and helpful, even having the clothes my daughter left behind in a drawer mailed back to us. We also enjoyed cooking in the outdoor kitchen. A fun few days overall.
