Weekend Trip to Bailes Farm

Peace and serenity are the hallmarks of this stay. We came in late spring, it was warm during the day and perfectly cool at night. Getting there is a trip, I encourage you to watch the video the host made for how to get there. Also, if you have a car with low ground clearance, you may have a rough time. The accommodations were great too. The tiny home was well appointed, and the views are spectacular. What a beautiful place. I would recommend this place.

1 night at Bailes Farm

This was one of my favorite campsites I've ever been to! I have camped in Santa Cruz, Pismo and Big Sur, Yosemite as an example of a few places I've been and Bailles Farm is right at the top of the list. My husband is recovering from a stroke and with a little help from me was able to navigate the terrain of the site. The car was able to pull right up to unload. It reminded me of a cross between a cabin and tent; an outdoor experience and camping feel with the privacy of your own toilet and shower along with convenience of a kitchen and bed. If you are a nature buff like me, having a view of the valley WHILE using the facilities and showering is an amazing experience. I'd consider the site "user friendly" even for a first time camper. Our car is a Toyota Corolla and we had no trouble on the drive up. I suggest printing out your instructions or downloading them to your phone. I wish I'd printed reverse directions and map/photos the host provided via email because once you are on the back roads service gets spotty, although we did get reception once at the site. The firewood provided for the pot belly stove inside was gone and after a quick text, they brought us some more. Extremely courteous exchange with the host regarding this and questions we had on the way up. Make sure to take advantage of the hammock swings at sunset like we did and make s'mores or hotdogs over the gas fire pit at night. We will definitely be back. Thanks for hosting us!

Weekend Trip to King Creek Campground

My partner and I had a lovely weekend at this campsite. It was private and had a lot of land to explore. The site had two little tables, two plastic chairs and had a jug or spring water, all of it came in so handy. The fire pit was large and got a lot of use. Carlotta was very nice and informative and had the cutest dog. The bathroom is not the happiest place on earth but I was grateful there was even one to begin with and it served its purpose. The drive off the main road to the campsite was rough especially leaving but we got through it with some maneuvering. Overall, I can’t say anything negative about the experience and I plan to come back with more friends for more fun.

Great hosts, large, secluded and private campsite. Great for star gazing, and tons of wildlife. Lots of trails to explore in massive lot. Sadly the creek was dried during the summer when we visited but the stay was amazing nonetheless. Would highly suggest offroad capable car for the trip.

Weekend Trip to Bailes Farm

Dome Home under the Queen Palms is a "must stay" for those who are looking for a unique glamping experience. My husband loved using the (propane) barbeque grill to prepare a scrumptious dinner. Even though we brought along our own sauces and spices, we were pleasantly surprised to discover that there were already quite a few salts, spices and oil in the cabinet. Please note that if you need to use sugar or honey, you must bring along your own as there is only artificial sweetener available. (This is completely understandable as storing sugar in the cabinet would only attract unwanted ants and other insects.) We used the utensils provided, to cook a hearty breakfast in the morning and I used the French Press to make coffee. There is a kettle to boil water and tea bags in case you enjoy English Tea or Green Tea... The Dome has a bunk bed to sleep in and the lower bed is larger than the upper one. The mattresses are extremely comfortable alongwith the bed covers and we didn't need to use our comforters which we had carried along. Maybe during the winter months you would need your own comforters. I would recommend however taking your own pillows, especially if you know that you would only sleep well on your own pillow. At night solar lights come on to brighten the dining area which is a long wooden table with wooden benches on either side. The restroom area a a little walk away from the Dome. We carried a bottle of water to pour down after peeing each time, to keep odors away.

Incredible secluded valley. The Meadow campground was a beautiful spot, and the water at flat rock was amazing to sit by. Carlotta was accommodating and supportive, even though I missed her messages and showed up fairly late! Richard even jumped my car when the battery died in the morning.

Absolutely stunning spot surrounded by oak trees. So peaceful and quiet. Could not hear near by campers. Carlotta was so nice and helpful greeting us to our spot. Very enjoyable and I will definitely return!

Great stay at the Flat Rock camp location! The creek down below was making relaxing creek sounds all night. I slept like a rock. I was here solo, looking for a night away from the city. This is the perfect place for some quiet stargazing. Carlotta is an amazingly informative and welcoming host. I recommend bringing a high clearance vehicle coming here because that's what the road calls for. I borrowed my fiance's lifted F150. He just showed me how to drive it the day before and I made it down the switchbacks to the camp location. The 1.5mi drive down was an adventure on its own; for me at least. The truck made the journey down an easy breeze. I couldn't recommend this location more. As a San Diego local, this place will definitely become a regular spot for me. Thank you!

We loved our camping trip! Went with a group of friends and stayed over Memorial Weekend at Lake Campsite. Had plenty of space for tents, parking, and activities— including lots of shady areas. Bathroom was a pit toilet, well kept and clean. Water was provided in a 5-gal jug (could go up to house to get more) so recommend bringing some extra. Wifi only at the main house, we had 0 service at the site. There was water in the Creek, definitely not enough to swim and we weren’t able to find an area to hangout down by the Creek. Beautiful areas to hike, hosts were super nice and helpful. Would also add that a heavy SUV struggles to get up the driveway, so be mindful of that with car choices. 10/10 would stay again!

Frank was an incredible host! He set us up for success from the moment we booked until the end when we were leaving! Helped with directions, gave us detailed instructions and had an awesome set up at his site! Frank was so kind and welcoming we cannot thank him enough!

I loved Tent Camping on Franks land! He was a wonderful host, and he took care of us to make sure we had everything we needed. If you are looking for somewhere that is full of nature and a getaway from the busy life, this is the perfect spot and the best host.

We loved everything about our stay at the hilltop lodge. Great views, so relaxing and peaceful and lots of helpful amenities to make it easy and comfortable. Bed was very cozy for a full nights rest. We will definitely come back again.

3 nights at King Creek Campground

Carlotta and her husband were great hosts and their land was beautiful. We stayed at campsite #4 - Flat Rock, near the creek. It was so relaxing being able to hear the running water from our tent. Each campsite also has an outhouse which came in handy. I would 100% recommend this campground for all campers. P.S. Believe them when they say you’ll need a truck or SUV to get through the dirt roads. It was quite an adventure getting to our space!

We had an incredible stay and can’t say enough good things about our experience. Carlotta, the host, was absolutely fantastic—punctual, super helpful, and full of great local tips. She gave us a map and recommended some beautiful hikes nearby, which we really appreciated. The campsite itself was everything we hoped for and more: private, peaceful, and surrounded by lush greenery. The shade from the trees made it extra comfortable during the day. We were a group of 19 people, including kids, and there was more than enough space for everyone—plenty of room for tents, a food area, and even a dedicated space for the kids to play. Everyone had a great time, and we’re so happy with the whole experience that we’re already planning to come back soon. Highly recommend!

Our Mom purchased the family property over 40 years ago, and my siblings and I grew-up with weekend trips exploring and camping on the property. With love and respect that all that Mother Nature designs be left wild and free, the more than 100 acres is dispersed with groves of old oak trees, mountains are covered in chaparral and manzanita shrubbery, and seasonal waterfalls, streams, a lake with a dam, dirt roads, and hiking trails. Our family's wish is to share our little bit of heaven on earth property with others who will love it as we do. One of the last remaining undeveloped parts of Southern California, De Luz Heights is located adjacent to the Cleveland National Forest, and the Santa Margarita River (just a few miles from the campsite). On my 60 acres, there are no major roads going through or next to the property. My land is 13 miles from the Pacific ocean and enjoys a relatively mild yearly climate. Giant boulders provide topographical relief and offer platforms from which to enjoy the view of the nearby Santa Margarita Mountains. The valley views are filled with olive and avocado groves, vineyards, and horse ranches. The Camp Pendleton Marine Corps base is nearby, so you might hear some artillery in the distance on some occasions. The campsite embraces all the comforts of "glamping": a hot shower, composting toilet, beds with sheets provided, gas grill with a stovetop, pots and pans, kitchenware, a sink, picnic table, shaded deck, sofa, lounge chairs, and propane fire pit. The basics are provided: toilet paper, paper towels, purified drinking water, towels, sheets, cooking oil, etc. Campers need to bring their own blankets. I've created a network of hiking trails for especially fit hikers looking for a more rigorous hike than the nearby Santa Margarita River Trail. My trails lead through creek beds, over boulders, through rocky crags, with views of the Pacific ocean on a clear day. Hikers on my trails need to wear proper hiking boots with good traction. Sections of my trails will require bouldering with hands and feet. Expect to have fatigued quadriceps, some scrapes, and a sweaty hat brim. The campsite is accessible with a two-wheel drive vehicle; I drive a Kia Forte out there regularly. However, some tips when driving a two-wheel drive car: when going uphill on a dirt road, try to keep some momentum of about 12-15 MPH. If you stop and try to start again, your tires will spin out. If that happens, just reverse down the hill, and try it again with more momentum.
