Run by three generations, our ranch has been in our family for more than 70 years. We opened our doors to the public in 2014 to help support feeding our animals, bred and rescued, after the Powerhouse Fire almost burned us out. We’ve survived a county quarantine(2018-2019), the COVID Lockdowns (2021-2022), the Lake Fire (2020), and the Hurricane Kay burn scar debris flow and flood (9/11/22), depending on hard work and strong family and community bonds. In addition to camping and educational tours, we host private and community events, grow and sell produce and eggs, hatch and sell chicks, rescue ratites, and support the local bee population (which gives us RAW honey to sell), and are working to open a private U-pick-by-appointment orchard. We are all animal lovers, and conservationists, and try to do our part to ensure our children inherit a healthy and viable world. This is our home where we live, work, love, and play. We enjoy sharing our space with visitors who we hope learn about ostrich and make some great memories.

Enjoy a rustic, no-fuss stay on our 20-acre working farm just 15 miles south of Bakersfield, with easy freeway access. Campsites sit along the pond—perfect for catch-and-release fishing, paddle boarding, or kayaking. We have a small area with farm animals (pigs, goats, sheep, peacocks and chickens) for you to enjoy. Most guests are road-tripping, escaping LA, or stopping over en route to Yosemite, Sequoia, or Joshua Tree. Expect a desert climate: hot summers, cold winters.
Each site includes a small table, potable water spigot, picnic table, and fire pit (bring your own wood). All sites are BYO tent or car-camping with the exception of our one Glamping Site which includes a queen bed. Some have vehicle height limits (noted in site names), and cannot accommodate pop-ups or truck campers.
Amenities include one shared indoor toilet and an outdoor hot/cold shower. You may be greeted by our friendly, working farm dogs. We offer self check-in and you're welcome to arrive anytime after 1PM; checkout is 11AM. Please respect quiet hours after 10PM if arriving late.
CAMP RULES
No Pets – Our dogs protect the farm and see other animals as threats. You will be asked to leave with no refund if you bring a pet.
Quiet Hours: 10 PM–7 AM – No exceptions. If we receive complaints about noise, you’ll be asked to leave immediately.
1 Tent + 1 Car per Site (Site 4 allows 2 tents/2 cars). If you need more tents, you will need to book multiple sites.
No tents or canopies on the grass/lawn area.
No fireworks or open flames outside of designated fire pits. Propane burners or grills are permitted.
Do not feed the farm dogs—no treats or food, ever.

My gf and I LOVED camping at the farm. It was beautiful and we had the whole place to ourselves. We loved the dogs, they were so friendly and well behaved. We kayaked and did some fishing and releasing, we had an amazing and joyous time. Bathroom was clean and the shower was a plus! Will definitely come back soon and highly recommend this place.

Hosts were lovely, responded quickly, and were very accomodating. The man who gave us a tour was very knowledgable; we had never learned so much about ostriches/birds and we had been to other ostrich farms before! Also gave us great tips on where to travel in the area around the ranch. Definitely would visit again, very peaceful place to stay.

This is a great spot for a hop over, or for a big group if you want to book all the tent spots together. The cooking area is communal, and clean and they were very accommodating answering questions about the propane campfire and grill. We went a weekend that was particularly windy, and had to cut our trip short so know the winds can get really powerful in this area. But there was also a wind event in LA county so it may have been exaggerated for us. Regardless, we enjoyed dinner and karaoke at the restaurant down the road where kids were welcome, and had coffee at a new coffee shop with live music closer to Lake Elizabeth. So some lovely things to explore nearby!
Our kids loved having the playground equipment and meeting the ostriches which are wild to see up close. Beautiful views in the morning as well!

We had a wonderful weekend at site # 4. Going in early March was cold but we had the whole campsite to ourselves. The views were beautiful & the animals were precious. Even in the chilly weather we toom the kayak & paddleboard out for a spin & enjoyed our time on the water. We will definitely be coming back again!

This camp was lovely in that there was quite a bit to see - namely all the farm animals. The dogs were lovely, as a dog lover, but be warned that they are very human-interested! They slept next to our tent all night (so cute), but also jumped on me when we first arrived, covering my clothes in mud. When you're camping you get dirty, so what! Just be ready to get dirty. As for the campground, the map to the campsites was slightly unclear, but we figured it out. And the bathroom was clean and surprisingly nice! Overall, great visit. Thank you!

My partner and I really enjoyed our stay at the farm! The pond was great, I was able to catch my first fish ever and 24 more after that! The farm was very clean and well kept. We had enough shade until mid afternoon and then threw our canopy up. The outdoor shower honestly exceeded my expectations and I really enjoyed it! The water was hot!!! And the bathroom was clean.
Meredith was super responsive and helpful. I enjoyed having Olaf around! I felt very safe and protected.

Our stay at this farm was absolutely wonderful. From the moment we arrived, the peaceful atmosphere made it the perfect place to relax and unwind. Being surrounded by animals like donkeys, alpacas, chickens, peacocks, and even camels made the experience really unique and special. The property itself is beautiful, with great hiking trails that let you fully take in the scenery and quiet surroundings. It was the perfect balance of nature and comfort. The cabin was incredibly cozy and comfortable. If you're looking for a peaceful getaway with a touch of farm life and nature, this place is truly a gem. We would definitely love to come back.

Lovely stay! I really enjoyed learning more about the ostriches during the tour. Lou was very informative. I also went home with some of the ostrich oil heat cream. It’s listed in the breakdown as $20 but I was charged $25.. just something to be mindful of. But all in all loved the experience and would stay again!

This place far exceeded our expectations! We planned on a nice relaxing weekend and seeing some animals but the amount of animals and the overall scenery in the mountains was incredible. The cabin was very cozy and warm during the chilly evenings and it was so peaceful sitting by the fire or enjoying our coffee outside while admiring the animals. All of the animals were super friendly and overall unaffected by your presence. The staff pretty much left you alone but was very pleasant and informative whenever we crossed paths. They answered any and all questions we had while dropping off carrots, firewood and tending to the animals.

We had a lovely time here and would definetely come back in the future! The hosts were very nice, quick to reply, and took the time to show us around different camping spots to pick from. The property and surrounding area is beautiful and there's a lot of interesting places to explore. The creek isn't hard to cross with any regular car which isn't too close to the ground. The animals were great too, they got some beautiful highland cows and horses which came up to us to say hello. There's a lot of bones around the property if bone collecting is your thing. They also got three shepard/guard dogs which are very friendly. We were the only campers there when we went so having them around at night really put our minds at ease. As others have said you lose signal relatively soon after you exit the highway and take Caliente, so plan accordingly

The cabin itself was absolutely delightful — cozy, peaceful, thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed, and directly across from a sweet little group of alpacas. The space and scenery felt like an excellent value for the price, and my girls absolutely loved our stay.
We did add on a few extras (carrots for the animals, firewood, and a sauna visit), and while we enjoyed each of these, the communication around them felt a bit unclear. I had to reach out multiple times to coordinate, and we received less firewood than expected close to dark. The sauna was also not ready at our scheduled time, and we weren’t given clear parking instructions — which led to some confusion upon arrival. None of this ruined our stay, but it did make the add-on experience more stressful than anticipated.
Overall, the cabin and location were wonderful, and with clearer communication around the extras, this would easily be a five-star stay.
