While Chico may look a bit far away on the map, the highway gets you there in 20 short minutes. This university town is well known for its mixture of vibrance, the arts, and small town rural living. The area boasts truly amazing restaurants, bars, shopping and modern amenities. Our property is very close to access points for the famous Upper Bidwell park. Are you ready to unplug from the world and recharge in nature? This newly built two bedroom, two bath log cabin will help you do just that. You’ll reconnect with love ones since the cabin has NO WIFI but does have a wood burning stove and miles of trails to walk on just outside of the front door. The cabin is conveniently located just minutes from the north entrance of Lassen National Park.
For entertainment, I have a TV (no cable)/DVD player with a selection of movies, board games, and reading material including a few books and magazines.
There is timber land at the back of the property with plenty of trails to walk or ride a mountain bike (if you bring one). Lassen National Park is a short drive away. Also nearby is lake McCumber.
I have a wood burning stove inside that you can use for a fire.
Absolutely NO FIRES outside. There is a fire ban in effect, thank you for your cooperation and understanding. I have a propane BBQ outside that you can use, along with a picnic bench and other outside seating.
I will provide a selection of tea, hot coco, coffee and oatmeal to get your day started. Be sure to bring food with you since the nearest grocery story is about 9 miles away.
I will provide a basket of firewood to use during your stay, but it's a good idea to bring extra since it will go fast.
Because you're in the forest, there is limited cell reception so please plan accordingly. I've found that Verizon has some signal while AT&T has none. Since it's meant to get away from it all, not having cell service might be a good thing. :)
The master bedroom is on the entire loft floor so there isn't a lock or door that separates the main area downstairs. Just so you're aware. There is a door and lock on the guest bedroom downstairs.
All you'll need to bring are your personal items, food for your stay, and extra firewood!
Once booked, I will send more helpful tips and information for your stay a week prior to your check in date.
Dogs - I allow dogs because I believe they are part of the family, but please notify me if you intend to bring your dog prior to your stay.
If there is high wind in the forecast, the electric company, PG&E may turn the power off for safety reasons. They usually notify me a day in advance and I will let you know right away, but I wanted you to know that it might be a possibility during your stay.
For Winter Guests: A 4 wheel drive vehicle or car with chains is HIGHLY recommended to travel to the cabin. The main road is paved but there will be snow/ice in the area. The driveway is a slight uphill and is not paved. Please be prepared for snow.

The Goat Shed may be the best Hipcamp experience I've ever had. I slept well on the comfortable bed after an evening nap on the patio. I saw so many creatures: deer, woodpeckers, a small frog, bats, and turkeys. The hosts put so much thought and care into creating this warm and welcoming space, from the lighting, to the patio, to the clear instructions about the shower, to the extra amenities in the space itself. Johana tipped me off to a great swimming beach nearby, and was so communicative throughout. I hope I can make it back soon.

A magical place! I was reluctant to leave a review because I wanted to keep it my little secret. This is a functional log cabin on a large piece of property with an easy to access meadow, creek, ponds and mixed forest. I grew up without running water or electricity so “off grid” does not bother me. If you don’t have experience with that lifestyle, then it would not be fair to the owners to leave a negative review, just plan ahead and come prepared. I was searching for a place away from people where I could let my boys (11&8) run free. We brought their 4-wheeler, fishing poles, BB guns and bikes and they rode around and had a blast. They repeatedly told us that they were having so much fun they didn’t even notice that there wasn’t tv or internet (there actually is internet but we came to unplug).We loved the creek which was clear and like something out of a movie with a clear, shaded lagoon. We saw a few small trout, deer, squirrels and even a couple of rattlesnakes. It was so quiet and felt safe behind the locked gate that leads to the property. We visited in August and it was pretty hot in the cabin but at night we opened up the windows in the loft (don’t worry as long as lights are off no bugs will get in) and it cooled down by 2am. It has the vibe of being a 70’s hippie hangout with unique vintage décor. The building next to the cabin has a bar set up and a little stage where you can strum your guitar or have a dance party. We hope to make it a new family tradition!

This is an awesome place! I use it as a halfway stop between the bay and bend. Temperature very comfortable in the evening, it does get hot once the sun is up. The owners take really good care of the place and they want guests to have a good stay. There's instructions on how to use everything, which is nice to have when you're not familiar with propane. I had water, coffee, shower, a comfortable bed and the Stars above, not to mention the sweet outside area with a picnic table and some lounge chairs under a gazebo. If the price stays in this range I would stay again 100%.. My first hip camp experience and it was great. I followed the instructions included in the listing and I got there with no problem in the middle of the night.

The location relative to Lassen was great. The beds were comfortable, and the AC and fridge were a huge plus. The outdoor sink and dish washing materials for camping equipment, and the chairs, picnic bench, and fire pit were all great.

Weekend Trip to One Thing Ranch - Alpacas & Llamas
This was an amazing experience! My friend and I stayed in the airstream (which had an ac) and kept us nice and cool. It was so spacious and clean. The kitchen was fully stocked inside the airstream and so was the one outside! Nancy provided utensils, pots, pans, etc. She even provided sheets for the beds. We were able to get a tour of all the alpacas and llamas and feed them! And the friendly barn cat greeted us every morning. Nancy even gave us a beautiful recommendation to go swimming at Lewiston Lake since the river was too cold. You can tell all the love that goes into this place. We will be staying here as often as possible. It has everything you could possibly need, even a flush toilet and a hot shower. Thanks for having us !

3 nights at The Goat Shed
Cute place to stay! It felt secluded even though we were close to people. Great place to stay if you’re looking for glamping near Lassen or Shasta. We loved it!

With pets
We loved our stay in this rustic cabin on the edge of the National Forest. We made lots of use of Hayfork Creek right on the property edge, cooked almost all of our meals there, and enjoyed the quiet and wildlife.

Weekend Trip to Aristocrat Acres
Wonderful short stay in Hannah’s trailer! Beautifully maintained and decorated with everything you’d need, with all the touches that make a tiny house into a tiny home. There was a fire ban in the area so we didn’t get to cook or enjoy the firepit, but they looked nice and the outdoor lights around the table were excellent. It is a residential area so wouldn’t come here for a loud night out in the woods, but enough distance from neighbors that it still felt private. There were perfect trees to setup a hammock, woke up to a diverse range of birdsong and saw a family of baby squirrels. Perfect for a family, would happily return!

Very cute trailer with all of the necessities. Loved hearing the creek right near by. Morning yoga class was fun. Close to Lassen. Great trip!

Group trip
Everything you need is there already, all you need to bring are clothes and food. Bathroom is clean with lots of clean towels and even soap, shampoo etc.
Airstream is in good condition, clean and has everything you need, coffee salt and pepper, paper towels, tissue, extra blankets and sheets, DVD and some movies.

Weekend Trip to Mill Creek Resort
Such a great spot to explore Lassen and relax! The cabin was perfect, super comfortable and had everything we needed. We loved cooking over the campfire.
