Sitting in the warm, sunny Coachella Valley, Palm Springs provides numerous options for adventurous explorers. San Bernardino National Forest is to the west and Joshua Tree National Park to the east. Palm Springs itself is overlooked by the impressive Mt. San Jacinto.

The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is an absolute don't miss—unless you're scared of heights! This 10-minute trip gives you a tremendous view of the valley of Chino Canyon. The 2.5-mile trip ends in Mt. San Jacinto State Park at an elevation of about 8,500 feet. Enjoy the beautiful overlooks from the park's observation decks and hiking trails.

Hipcampers looking for a real hiking challenge can get to Mt. San Jacinto's peak the old-fashioned way. The 14.5-mile Cactus to Clouds Trail goes all the way from Palm Springs to the mountaintop. It also gains just over 10,000 feet of elevation on the way! This exceptionally tough hike is unmarked in parts and is recommended for advanced and ambitious hikers only.

If heights aren't really your thing, explore the enormous Joshua Tree National Park. This 800,000-acre area sits at the intersection of two major deserts—the Mojave and Colorado. This is an extremely popular camping area, especially from mid-February to mid-May. It can be a little easier to score a campsite during the hot months of summer.

I appreciated the privacy at David's camp. While it isn't a location for uninterrupted quietude, I found the noises of the area to be mostly unobtrusive. An ATV may rip through the vicinity later in the evening or night. That being said, I would visit again. It's a really beautiful setting. The sturdy table and fire ring make it feel like home.

We loved the Stargazer Cabin. And the fenced back yard had a super fire pit area. With bean bag chairs and a nice grill, too. Also, we drove out there in our Class C RV and they even had a 30-amp hook-up and water. Very nice surprise. We would definitely go back. We’re thinking of bringing our grandson because the property is very close to an OHV area that would be fun. All in all, it was pretty much perfect.

My girlfriend and I love this place, this was our second stay with Ron. We stayed at site Date Haven and it might be our FAVE site yet! Super private and it was just PERFECT. Ron was amazing at responding to our every need. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place, we will be back AGAIN!

I loved being nestled in the palm fronds with my pup! The tent w/bed+electricity, tub w/hot springs water, and location are fantastic. It felt surprisingly private because the managers take care in placing folks. They responded quickly to my questions and everyone I interacted with was kind and helpful. Grateful for the kitchen w/ potable water and there's rustic shower+toilet building. Highly recommend!

The directions were very straightforward, making it incredibly easy to get in and out, and the location was stellar—truly the perfect setting for our anniversary. The space itself was cozy, charming, and exactly what we were hoping for. Ken was a wonderful host and sent us some fantastic recommendations for the area that really enhanced our stay. The hot mineral water is incredible! We go to a lot of mineral Springs and they all have different minerals and benefits, but we found that Ron’s Hot Springs gave us the most relief out of any hot spring. My husband and I are nearly 70 with lots and lots of aches and pains, and it was amazing how it Soothe them all away. Ron is a very gracious host, very prompt and accommodating if you contact him for anything. Since you’re away from the road, it was very, very quiet and peaceful. We’re already planning our next day there.

The Seemore 1964 Dexter was the perfect hideaway for a solo mission to the high desert, far enough off the beaten path to avoid the T-Day JT crowds. Tristyn and family were INCREDIBLY friendly and warm, and the property couldn't be easier to get to. We loved tent camping at Copper Moon! We have 3 dogs and they can be a bit anxious and barky at busy campgrounds so this quiet campsite was perfect for us. We appreciated the remote feel and the view of the nightsky was amazing. There were 3 or 4 different firepits you could chose from and plenty of areas to pitch your tent. We have already. booked a second trip! :)

Weekend Trip to Private 40 Acre Primitive Camp

My family had a great time camping here. It was awesome being secluded and having so much space to ourselves, but nice to be close enough to town if we needed any supplies. There are others camping in the distance on BLM land and you can hear people riding ATV’s in the background, but it was not a bother at all. Having the deck was really nice, as well as the picnic table. We also made good use of the fireplace. We will definitely come back.

We stayed two nights. Some highlights include the comfortable bell tent, date trees, ramen, date shake and mineral spring tub. All of this plus more made for a comfortable, relaxing, and unique glamping experience. The hosts are very friendly and responsive. We went to Palm Springs for a few hours as well- it's a short drive away. We'll definitely be back.

Great location. Our visit was nice and peaceful. We were initially concerned with the tiny heater that was provided but we found that it worked great, we even had to turn it off halfway through the night. The Eagle Nest has a great view while still being secluded in the rocks and Manzanita.
