(Please note our 2nd bathroom is a good walk uphill from the campsites). Our larger bathroom campers can use with a shower and small fridge to store your food.
We also have a playground with swing set for kids to enjoy.
PLEASE NOTE: Bookings must be made at least 48 hours in advance.
FIRES: No fires are to be lit by the campers without verbal consent from property owner and instruction. SEE property owner/camp host upon arrival about what you may use on the property. He will provide instructions.
TASTINGS: Macala Orchards Olive Oil, Various Jellies and Jams Pomegranate Juice all made from what we grow are available for tasting upon request. Please let us know prior to arrival if you are interested in a scheduled tasting during your stay! We can provide a tasting if we have the proper staff during your visit. Our products are available for purchase, with or without a tasting. We recommend you bring cash if you are interested. We also take Venmo!
GETTING TO VILLA MACALA: The road up to Villa Macala is a dirt road uphill, all vehicles fair well, we attempt to keep the road maintained as well as possible, after heavy rains it is a bit more bumpy but safe. Drive slow!

We are the second owners of the property and want to be as self sustaining as possible. We are on a well and have converted to solar power. Due to deadlines and even more stress created by the partners of the firm, I ignored what my body was telling me. I put off going to the doctor for months telling myself I didn't have time and, after this next deadline I'll get a check up.I knew that I needed to change my lifestyle but I wasn't doing it fast enough. We closed escrow on the property in October of 2016 and that November I was in the ER. I almost died. Spent my birthday and Thanksgiving in the hospital.Soon after that I quit my job at the CPA firm and started working from home. Still suffering from complications, that summer in June/July I ended up in the ER again. Even closer to death this time. Since then I've turned around my health. Focused on life on the farm. Raising my animals, my garden and creating a unique experience with the campers. For your convenience, a wash station for dishes is available on-site, and the Joshua Tree Laundromat is located 9 miles away in downtown Joshua Tree. For campfires, it is important to keep them contained inside the designated burn barrels and never leave them unattended. In the event of high winds, campfire, and BBQ use may be suspended for safety reasons.

(Please note our 2nd bathroom is a good walk uphill from the campsites). Our larger bathroom campers can use with a shower and small fridge to store your food.
We also have a playground with swing set for kids to enjoy.
PLEASE NOTE: Bookings must be made at least 48 hours in advance.
FIRES: No fires are to be lit by the campers without verbal consent from property owner and instruction. SEE property owner/camp host upon arrival about what you may use on the property. He will provide instructions.
TASTINGS: Macala Orchards Olive Oil, Various Jellies and Jams Pomegranate Juice all made from what we grow are available for tasting upon request. Please let us know prior to arrival if you are interested in a scheduled tasting during your stay! We can provide a tasting if we have the proper staff during your visit. Our products are available for purchase, with or without a tasting. We recommend you bring cash if you are interested. We also take Venmo!
GETTING TO VILLA MACALA: The road up to Villa Macala is a dirt road uphill, all vehicles fair well, we attempt to keep the road maintained as well as possible, after heavy rains it is a bit more bumpy but safe. Drive slow!

Weekend Trip to The Cabins at Joshua Tree Lake RV
This cabin was everything I needed and more for a quick weekend of hiking and exploring Joshua Tree. Coming from out of state, I was able to roll in with my carry on and still have the camping-esque weekend of campfires and picnic table lounging that I was looking for. The main host is so kind, helpful to work with, and was prompt to reply to questions I had.
The place looked just as it does in the photos here and I thought the blankets and bedding far exceeded my expectations for a “dorm” hostel in the desert. The only thing I might add would be hooks. I lucked out and had the place to myself, but had there been others sharing the space, places to hang things would be really helpful in keeping the space organized.
I’d definitely recommend this hostel and consider staying again when I’m in the area :)

We loved car camping with our RTT at Ed's land! We decided to camp on the spacious area above the shoreline but it was nice being able to wake up and take a stroll down to the lake. We were aware of the spot being close to the street but didn't realize how close it ended up being. As avid boondockers, we were surprised by how close the street was to the site; however, the traffic noises ultimately became white noise throughout the weekend. It definitely didn't affect my sleep (and I'm absolutely a light sleeper) and putting on earplugs had me sleeping like a baby. It was especially nice being able to wake up so early and walk out onto the shore with a nice cup of coffee. It's also always nice knowing you're just a few minutes away from the city if you've forgotten anything for camp. I highly recommend this spot to first-timers or just anyone looking to get away from city chaos!

Weekend Trip to The Cabins at Joshua Tree Lake RV
Didn’t feel well enough to go camping but found these lil hostel units and they were exactly what I needed! Staff was friendly and accommodating to my needs especially with friends dropping me off after hours. It’s about a 15 minute drive from town and 30 from the park. Layout can be confusing at first but after a couple laps you figure it out. Bathrooms are nice and clean and the building is lit up with colorful lights which makes it easy to find at night. The lake is nice for quiet morning strolls with the ducks. They also sell necessities in the main office including firewood, snacks, gloves, etc. The actual units are small but cozy. Beds are on the firmer end but not overly so, and the blankets provided are a bit small but fortunately I brought my own and the heater was easy to use. I had the unit all to myself so I can’t speak on how it would be with others, but overall if all you need is a warm bed and basic amenities this is a great choice :)

I loved it here! Morgan was so accommodating. The cabin had everything needed (and more). I decided to stay another night while I was there because of how great the area is. I was able to go to Big Bear to hike and eat for an afternoon, and Lake Arrowhead the next day had I chosen to.
Working a stressful job in LA and having this big cabin that has a great fireplace, wood, heaters (and AC) and the bed and comforter were a dream (I even have a sleepnumber at home and I was not dying to get back to it).
This was the best solo trip with my furry creature and so needed!

The Bayview Bungalow was very cute and cozy. It had everything we needed for a fun weekend in Big Bear. The bungalow is close to the lake and village, and the hot tub is a nice bonus. Thanks for the hospitality, Melissa!
