Villa Macala is a 20-acre oasis of detailed landscape, orchards and Southern CA native planting while complimenting the natural rocks and gorgeous views. Enjoy the many hiking trails and rest in the peace, quiet and beauty. Overlooking the Hemet Valley with gorgeous panoramic views of the San Jacinto Mountains, Villa Macala is reminiscent of an Italian Villa. The property landscape includes Olive Orchards throughout, a growing vineyard, fig trees, pomegranate trees. Villa Macala is 15 minutes from Diamond Valley Lake where you can enjoy a wildflower trail, fishing or mountain bike trails, museum and water park. It is 20-30 minutes to Pachea Trail and Simpson Park where you can enjoy more great hiking and mountain bike trails. It is also a 30-minute drive to Temecula Wine Country. We have 2 outdoor bathrooms, one was most recently added one at our Elderberry Camp Site (site 1), closer to site 4 our Oaks Campsite as well. (Please note our 2nd bathroom is a good walk uphill from the campsites). Our larger bathroom campers can use with a shower and small fridge to store your food. We also have a playground with swing set for kids to enjoy. PLEASE NOTE: Bookings must be made at least 48 hours in advance. FIRES: No fires are to be lit by the campers without verbal consent from property owner and instruction. SEE property owner/camp host upon arrival about what you may use on the property. He will provide instructions. TASTINGS: Macala Orchards Olive Oil, Various Jellies and Jams Pomegranate Juice all made from what we grow are available for tasting upon request. Please let us know prior to arrival if you are interested in a scheduled tasting during your stay! We can provide a tasting if we have the proper staff during your visit. Our products are available for purchase, with or without a tasting. We recommend you bring cash if you are interested. We also take Venmo!

This vintage horse trailer was reimagined into a Tiny house by Lane and Laurie as a couples project in 2018 which they completely gutted and remodeled using beautiful natural materials , old fashioned wood cabinetry, handmade ceramic tiles and woven bamboo with fully equipped kitchen, quality linens, fireplace, AC, WIFI, smart TV. Bluebird Tiny House is tucked into a secluded forest meadow, named for the bluebirds that spend part of the year there and is a spacious feeling 320 sq ft. The spa-inspired bathroom features a hand-carved, wood vessel sink, eco-dual flush toilet,rain shower, and free-standing soaking tub with oak canopy view. Both on the same dirt road across the street from each other, separate properties, both with their own private hot tubs, kitchen, claw foot tub in bathroom, heating. Rent separate or rent both and bring your friends! Here are the special additions at each cabin: Creekside Cabin: 468 sq. ft, a beautiful deck backing up to the national forest, with propane fire pit(you supply your own propane tank), and charcoal bbq(you bring your own charcoal), overlooking fresh water creek, outdoor shower, large fireplace, open floor plan, living room with cozy queen bed, open to upstairs loft 2 full beds, and a twin bed. This cabin has the option to add the vintage trailer in the driveway June - October only as an additional space. Does not have electricity, bathroom or heating for $75 per day. Trailer not available other times of the year due to cold night temps. Vintage 1937 Cabin: larger indoor space 1304 sq. ft. , a rock front patio, Wood stove in living room, open to upstairs loft 2 full beds, private large bedroom with another wood stove w/ queen bed and twin fold out couch, laundry room, enclosed patio with gas bbq, and a charcoal bbq on front patio(you supply your own charcoal).. We are one of only two inspected and permitted glamping sites in the Joshua Tree area. The tent is situated at the rear of our property with a private road and unobstructed mountain views. Can’t decide between sunrises and sunsets, well here you don’t have to. On any given day they range from spectacular to mind-blowing. If stargazing is your thing, you won’t be disappointed, on a good night you can see the Milky Way. This is the perfect desert escape to unwind, explore or just relax while having access to a safe, air conditioned, solar powered bedroom, private bathroom, mini fridge, gas grill, gas fire pit, outside dining area, outlets for charging and much more. This listing includes the queen bed for up to 2 people. We live on the property and consider The Kosmic Tortoise an extension of our home so please reach out if you need any assistance. The site includes 2 domes on opposite sides of our fenceline. WiFi is available for guest use.

One of the best glamping experiences I’ve ever had. The entire setup was a 10/10—from the moment I arrived, everything felt thoughtful, seamless, and peaceful. The space offered total privacy, and I felt completely safe throughout my stay. I originally booked just one night, but ended up extending my trip because the first night was that good. The water is pristine, the tents are incredibly comfortable, and the setting is perfect for recharging. Ron is a fantastic host, and his wife made me the best ramen I’ve ever had—and I’ve spent quite a bit of time in Japan, so that’s saying something. I’m so grateful for the experience and only wish them continued success as they grow this beautiful offering. Thank you again—hope to be back soon.

I would highly recommend camping here! Our spot (oak grove) was very private and secluded and had a beautiful view of the mountains. The hosts are a down to earth, kind, and genuine couple who will welcome you warmly and make sure you have everything you need. They have several bath houses, each with a toilet, shower, sink, soap, shampoo, bee sting and first aid kits, literally anything you could need. I would highly recommend doing a tasting and trying their olive oil products as well as their jams and jellies, you won’t regret the experience. I will absolutely be returning here soon with friends, it was an awesome experience that was made even better by the most amazing hosts. They are a hardworking couple who are proud of what they have accomplished and it is so interesting to hear about their land, their products, and their family.

The hip camp at Macala Orchard was more than we could have imagined. The staff was amazingly hospitable, from the tour upon arrival, to the attention to detail for our accommodations, we were delighted. Our family enjoyed the views, the knowledge gained about the orchard/vineyard from David, the kindnesses extended to us and getting to purchase the award winning olive oil and jam, bringing a piece of it back home with us. The family was easy to work with and we would do it again in a heartbeat!

I am so impressed - what an experience! Firstly, Ken was an exceptional communicator. He sent all the information we needed when we needed it. Next, the site was so thoughtfully and lovingly crafted. I’ve stayed at many hipcamps, and this set up by far takes the cake. From the cabin, to the showers, to the kitchen station, to the lighting, to the signage and thoughtful placement of each and every single detail (I could keep going…) - everything was handmade and very well crafted with so much love. Lastly, these days, it’s really hard to find an experience like this where the priority isn’t to make money. Sure, we all need to make a living, but this experience’s intention felt like much more than that. There was clearly a lot of heart and soul that went into this. Ken wants to share his land and provide an experience that brings joy to his guests. The value exchange is just perfect. Don’t hesitaste - book and enjoy the magic of Ken’s loving craftsmanship

Weekend Trip to Villa Macala
We just returned from the most wonderful weekend celebrating our now 7-year-old son's birthday at Villa Macala! The property is so peaceful and beautiful -- boulders, olive and pomegranate orchards, wildflowers (in late April), hummingbirds, blue birds, etc. Our hosts were so friendly, inviting, and helpful, and we loved their pomegranate juice, fruit jams, and tea. The brand new bathhouse, just a moment up the path from our site, was clean and full of soaps and other supplies. We'll be back, for sure, and highly recommend the property (Site 1 - Elderberry Park) in particular for those who want to tent camp.

Ken was extremely communicative and gracious with his hospitality during our stay at Granite Mountain. The cabins were extremely well-maintained and clean, and so was the cooking area and picnic benches. We cannot recommend this place enough to folks looking for a nice, secluded getaway in the Palomar Mountain area!

Macala is a truly amazing campsite. The property is very well maintained and the views are outstanding. Nina and the entire staff are accommodating, friendly and considerate. I spent 2 days with my son enjoying peace and quiet. We spent the days exploring the property. I’ve been to Macala 2 times in the past month and can’t wait to get back there again. It’s really fantastic.

Great experience. Tent and bed were clean and comfortable, mineral pool was absolutely lovely. Amazing to have my own private oasis on the camp ground (totally private). Bathrooms are communal, but I didn’t run into anyone there. The night I stayed was really windy, so I didn’t sleep as well as I might have (the tent moved a lot but was well grounded!), but that’s just the nature of camping. Ron was really friendly and super responsive. Highly recommend.

The Land Yacht is perfectly situated for exploring Joshua Tree National Park and local shops north of the park. It was nice & cozy for our family of four. Bring a reading light if you want to enjoy a book after the kids go to bed as there are not many focused lights within the airstream.

Hi Ken! Just wanted to send a huge thank you for the five-star experience at your EAGLES NEST Cabin at GRANITE MOUNTAIN. As an ER nurse, this was exactly what I needed to nourish my soul. Even with the rainy, cloudy weather, the views from atop the mountain were stunning. I loved cooking in the outdoor kitchen and eating at that picnic table nestled between the rocks and trees. Sipping coffee by the fire pit that first night with my dog Max while stargazing was magical. The shower had perfectly warm water with those nice towels and toiletries you provided. The composting toilet was a cool experience too! But the absolute best part was the silence and solitude away from other campers - chef’s kiss! Thank you for creating such an amazing place to enjoy nature. I will definitely be back! 🥰

Macala was absolutely beautiful, our hosts were gracious, and the camping facilities were superior & very clean. The grounds were expansive with various farming endeavors including olive groves, fruit trees, & vinyards. Views of SoCal’s largest mountains surround this farm in the canyons heading into wine country. Highly recommend a trip here, and be sure to take home some of their internationally acclaimed olive oils as well as other delicious offerings.
