Escape the hustle and bustle of city life as you unwind in my charming 120-square-foot (10 x 12 ft) tiny house, thoughtfully designed for comfort and functionality. We are located about 30 minutes north of Placerville in the Swansboro/Mosquito area.
The cozy living accommodations has a key-less entry and features two sleeping areas: a tiny loft with a twin-sized bed and on the main floor, a small sofa that converts into a small bed that is 39 inches wide and 66 inches long. Sheets, comforters, and pillows are provided for the beds. There is a ceiling fan, small electric heater, and an air conditioner as well. The small kitchen provides all the essentials to whip up delicious meals including a two burner hot plate, pots and pans, toaster, french press, plates, bowls, and eating utensils, spices and condiments, as well as complimentary tea and coffee. The tiny bathroom includes a metal tub with a copper shower and a compostable toilet. Towels, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are provided. There are two chairs on the screened-in porch to enjoy the sunset in the evenings or your coffee/tea in the mornings.
Situated a mere 10 minutes drive away is the pristine Finnon Lake, inviting you to indulge in a refreshing swim or a tranquil paddle amidst breathtaking scenery. The beautiful Rock Creek is just a 15-minute drive, promising invigorating water holes to swim or wade in. Wonderful forest hiking trails are also nearby in the El Dorado National Forest.
The tiny house is a mere 25 feet from my own home but there is a bamboo privacy fence between us that will give you plenty of privacy. In addition, I have several small beautiful dogs on the property that may bark during the initial visit of guests.

I had an incredibly rejuvenating time at the Scotts Dear Lodge! Krysten went out of her way with little gestures to make the space feel clean, comfortable, and inviting. A home away from home, if you will. It was also incredible waking up with a cup of coffee while it snowed outside! The kitchen was fully stocked with all the supplies you would need to prepare a nice home-cooked meal for yourself, and the wood-burning stove was also a highlight! I recommend this spot to anyone looking for a trip for a small family, couples, or solo adventurers! Don't miss out on this charming spot

Jason et al. have done the outdoor enthusiast-city dwellers of the world a massive favor by opening up their property to Hip Camp guests.
We spent three days basking in the beauty and peace of the towering firs on this family campground. We love to camp, but sometimes the setup takes away from the meditative experience we were looking for. This site has all you'd ever need for a comfortable stay National Forest adjacent.
If you're used to driving into a popular state park and setting up in a crowded campground, this will feel remote; and that's exactly what we wanted. And a place for our dog to exist with us off leash.
We spent most of our stay on the deck larger than my SF one bedroom. I've seen many an ocean sunset, but the view through the trees from one of two porch swings might take the cake as the most beautiful I've seen.
It was hot - end of summer and all - but the porch and trees provide ample shade. Our last afternoon we spent the majority of time in our tent due to massive thunderstorms rolling through, but I can't imagine ending the summer in a more dramatic fashion. Hail, heavy rain, thunder & lightening - such things we don't see in SF.
Jason was so communicative and helpful, checking in on us here and there, and coming down during the storms to batten down hatches and make sure we were safe and comfortable. A+++ host.
I hope this property stays on Hip Camp, because I'd love to bring a group here someday to take advantage of the tent sites, too.

Absolute bliss.. we had an amazing time! We had more than we needed. Example, if you were to arrive here with nothing but the clothes on your back they would have everything you need. There is even a cute little store nearby that carries anything your heart can desire plus some. There's a little place to take a shower with running hot water, The various restroom options were well kept, every item was in well condition, including the cookingware and the dishware. The area was super quiet and super chill and very private even with the camp host nearby. There was various places where we could set up tents and various places where we could park. So everyone can be in a group or spread out... There was even a little chill hammock area under some trees. My only advice to campers, their Creek trail.. is a trail. Lol if you are not experiencing hiking, it's a minimal hike but still very difficult for chair sitting office creatures, like myself lol also if you want to swim get up early or expect to walk, The South Yuba River is nearby beautiful but you need to arrive at like 8am. All in all was a great time can't wait to visit again. P.S. host is super responsive and always helpful 5 stars!

We absolutely loved camping at Jason‘s land. It was an incredible view and they had absolutely everything you could possibly need. They were super nice and even came and checked on us and made us breakfast! We couldn’t be more happier to have picked this campsite for our weekend getaway!

The cabin is just like my home with the usual amenities, yet has the added benefit of being out in nature. It is very close to Hwy 80, so no guesswork of where to find it. The bathroom/shower, the firm bed, the great kitchen/dining nook layout and the living room all make for a very comfortable stay. My pup and I enjoyed exploring the 'hood; I saw only one person during my four day/three night visit, so the remoteness and quiet away from suburbia was most welcome. Krysten was most responsive to my questions. Will visit, again, for sure.

Where to go
South Shore
The South Shore is home to lively South Lake Tahoe, full of restaurants, shops, lodging options, and casinos across the state line. Options include the opportunity to stay in a tent, RV, or cabin, many of which come complete with picnic tables, fire rings, restrooms, hot showers, and dump stations. Just outside of town, historic Camp Richardson offers tent and RV sites and cabins, along with sports rentals from bikes, kayaks, and paddleboards to snowshoes and cross-country skis. Near the Tallac Historic Site, find the Fallen Leaf Campground with campsites and yurts in the woods just north of Fallen Leaf Lake.
West Shore
The West Shore is home to some of the most scenic Lake Tahoe campgrounds and parks, including Emerald Bay State Park. Camp at Eagle Point Campground, on a promontory overlooking the bay, or spend the night at a boat-in campground right on the shore. D.L. Bliss State Park offers several campgrounds, including one near Lester Beach. Additional public options include the Meeks Bay Campground and the campground at Ed Z’berg Sugar Pine Point State Park. To escape the crowds, head into Desolation Wilderness in Eldorado National Forest.
North Shore
The North Shore stretches from Tahoe City to Incline Village and includes several charming towns in between, with shops, restaurants, and beaches. Just south of Tahoe City, William Kent Campground offers yurts, cabins, and tent sites, while Kaspian Campgrounds offers tent-only campsites. Camp right by the lake at the Tahoe State Recreation Area, or head inland from Lake Tahoe to find camping options along the Truckee River toward Truckee and high up on Mount Rose.
