This little farm is being brought back to life! Once part of an 160 acre avocado farm now it is a 15 acre little slice of heaven purchased in 2019. Previously the farm had been let go and now our duty is to get it back in shape. We are making steady progress and fall in love with the land more everyday. Currently we are also planting about an acre of lavender which should be a beautiful backdrop come 2024. Time up here gives you a chance to unwind, unplug, and explore some remaining wildlife in southern California.

The pass-through driveway leads directly to your site off Sunway Drive. You’ll have 1.5 acres of land to enjoy, with plenty of room to roam and hike in the surrounding area.
You’ll have excellent cell service and a strong 5G connection, so phone calls and social media are no problem. Please be respectful of the grounds and exercise caution with campfires and smoking.
Guest Access:
There is only one way to access the site, so please follow the provided directions carefully. GPS may lead you to a route that is not vehicle-accessible. You will drive through a residential neighborhood before entering the forest property — please drive slowly and respectfully.
Other Things to Note:
Please pack out all trash. We do not provide bins to avoid attracting animals or scattering debris in the wind.
Important: You must have a self-contained toilet system and pack out all waste.
A 4-wheel drive vehicle is recommended, but standard cars and RVs up to 30 feet can access the site by driving slowly. Low-clearance sedans can also make it with care. Please know your vehicle’s limits.
Parking is available directly on the campsite, leading up the driveway.
We’re animal-friendly! Pets are welcome — just be sure to clean up after them to help keep the property beautiful.

This issuch a great spot. First time at this site, but have spent a good amount of time at their other camp spot. I like the space, the fire pit, and the sunset and sunrises are worth the trip alone. I’m a very self contained and sufficient camper, and if that is you, you’ll love the place.

This campground is in a convenient location, right in town but just off the main drag. There is shopping nearby and easy access to Joshua Tree National Park. We are traveling during the winter so stayed 3 nights in January 2026. We were fortunate that the weather was not too chilly but did get down to about 39 most nights and bright, beautiful, sunny days around 60 for daytime exploring.
The sites were pretty level which is always nice with hookups conveniently located for water, sewer and 30 amp electrical. There was room for our Jeep Wagoneer L to park as well as plenty of room to use the portable wood fire place that they provided. It was quiet with great views right from the campsite!
We would definitely come back and stay again if our travels bring us back to this location. While we are set up for boon docking with ample batteries and solar, we are finding it much more enjoyable i.e. quiet to be in campgrounds with electricity so people are not running generators all night long. Too funny really. We're traveling from ME to FL to CA and this was one of many spectacular stops along the way.

We had a guys night here and we loved it, our own little piece of desert, no kids, no worries, just the guys, a campfire and way too much food! We didn’t wander around the property, we just stayed in the main area and we had five trucks fit no problem. We will be back!

Great stay at Skyline Mountain! The host was super friendly, communicative, and flexible, which made everything easy from start to finish.
The space was perfect for our group of 11 — tons of room to spread out, plenty of parking, and very well set up. Clean porta-potty, running water, string lights, tables, benches, and a bar platform were all ready when we arrived. The amphitheater stage was a highlight and a great place to hang out and enjoy the views.
Would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it for group camping.

I appreciated the privacy at David's camp. While it isn't a location for uninterrupted quietude, I found the noises of the area to be mostly unobtrusive. An ATV may rip through the vicinity later in the evening or night. That being said, I would visit again. It's a really beautiful setting. The sturdy table and fire ring make it feel like home.

Such a cool sight with just the right amount of amenities to make for a great casual camping experience. The road up is no joke and you got to be unafraid to get up a dirt road that goes up quickly, but our cars could do it, even when we came in at night. Caleb was great and communicative and we will definitley coming back for the next time do our retreat, the amphitheater so well positioned and the town at night was beautiful to look at. Great sunrises and sunsets too!

We have been using Hipcamp for a while now & this site is one of the best we have stayed at! As others have mentioned, you are able to see additional people camping in front of you & older campers to your right, but the site still feels private. We had no issue with our camper getting to the site. However, a low clearance camper could possibly have some problems. Also, just as a FYI for dogs & kids we did see a coyote in front of our camper on our last morning!

I love Wilhart Crossing! I've stayed here multiple times now. It's a lovely campground surrounded by Joshua trees that's well kept up, private, and have gorgeous views of sunrise/sunset! This place is one of my best kept secrets of the Joshua Tree area. Thank you for your hospitality as always David! :D
