Nipisum or 'health water' was later bottled by the California Medicinal Springs Co. after the land was homesteaded in 1886. This historic retreat rests at the foot of lower Chanchelulla 'black rock' Mountain. 1 night at Alpen Vineyard Hideaway

Such a great private retreat with our 3 pups! It has everything needed for a glamping getaway and more! Very clean all around. All amenities were there and taken care of well. Peaceful and absolutely beautiful! Nice swimming hole that we wished we could have jumped in but the weather was a bit chilly! We also stopped by the winery and met Leith who gave us a great rundown of the history which was a pleasant little bonus! We will come back next summer for a few more day with friends to enjoy!

My boyfriend and I stayed at Trinity Wilderness Outpost on Labor Day weekend and had a great time. The campsites were spacious and beautiful. The hosts were super helpful and friendly. It was nice having flushing toilets, a small sink area to do dishes, and potable water. We did this trip by ourselves, but would totally come back with a bigger group after seeing the size of the campsites. The drive wasn't bad at all, and totally worth it. We love the early check in and check out, which made us feel relaxed about our timing and not on a rigid schedule.

Alpen Vineyard Hideaway is wonderful! So thoughtfully created and operated. Coming to this glamping hideaway after a few nights of tent camping (which was lovely as well) was the perfect and comfortable way to end our multi-day camping trip! The Groves family have thought of nearly everything! The only recommended additions I would suggest guests bring are a tablecloth for the picnic table and a shade umbrella for the beach at the LOVELY swimming hole! Keith, the winemaker/owner, and his family clearly love what they do, and enjoy sharing the rich history of their special valley and vineyard with others! Thank you to the Groves family and all who help make the winery and lodgings so wonderful!

Weekend Trip to Trinity Outpost Wilderness Resort

Definitely a hidden gem! Quite a long drive on the dirt road to get to the location. Checked in at the Deerlick Springs Store and then was escorted further into the campground to reach our reserved spot. We had first pick of about 6-7 spots because we arrived before anyone else. We chose the very end spot next to the swimming hole, which our dogs loved. End of Aug, the water was low, but we still enjoyed every moment. Potable water and restrooms were very close, and the campground was very quiet despite the holiday weekend because the spots were so spread out. We want to return in June next year when the creek is higher. It was a beautiful place and the hosts were amazing!

The Alpen Cellars campsite was so wonderfully quiet and peaceful with a view of the vineyard and mountains. It was equipped with all the essentials needed for cooking, the bed was really comfortable and the bathroom and shower facility clean, spacious and well equipped with soap, shampoo and also an assortment of sunscreen and bug spray in case you forgot your own. We spent 4 nights, and we are already looking forward to coming next year.

It was an amazing experience in touch with nature mineral springs. The creek beds surrounding you are so peaceful to wake up to and the stars absolutely beautiful…. It seemed sketchy at first because it’s truly up in the forest and the drive is long but totally worth it: take note make sure you have everything you need and want there are no stores or gas stations near. We didn’t see anything but dear….no animals at night to worry about. It’s definitely a place you want to stay a week or so at just to take it all in….. We definitely are going back! New favorite spot thanks Carrie you are awesome!!!!!

We loved camping/glamping at Alpen Cellar’s. The camp site we stayed at overlooked their vineyard. Such a beautiful place to relax!! We enjoyed the wine tasting and the recommendations for fishing and sightseeing around the area. We were grateful they shared the swimming hole with us so we could cool off on a hot summers day. We got to know our neighbors at the site next to us. Our sites were private and equipped with a cooking stove and utensils to use. Their bathroom and shower room were so thoughtfully decorated. It’s a bit of a trek to get to, but well worth it. It’s absolutely gorgeous. A creek runs past all camp sites that I’m aware of. We took our niece and nephews camping for their first time; they had a blast. The owners are very kind and caring. They even picked up smores ingredients for us upon request during their shopping trip. Very above and beyond. There is running water and pretty nice bathroom facilities. First time I’ve seen flushing toilets in the middle of the forest. Pretty impressive. There’s also a cool old lodge that the kids liked exploring. The small creek had a pond-like area where I could stand in the water, and a small school of fish around the size of my pinky came to investigate me. They came right up to my feet and would bump into me. There had to have been around 20 of them. Pretty neat to stand in the water and just watch them explore around you. There is no cell phone signal for any carrier that I know of. There is WiFi, but only near the general store, which is by the campground entrance. So you have to be near the store to use it. Honestly, kind of nice to have a break from the phone. Overall, it was a really awesome spot. The kids were asking if we could specifically come back to this campground soon. I think that’s the biggest stamp of approval I know of.

We had an incredible stay at the cabin. The views were stunning all day long, the little terrace was a great place to hang, the interior was super cozy and comfortable, we had all the amenities we could have possibly wished for, you’re walking distance from a cute swimming hole and a short drive from bigger river beaches and gigantic redwoods. The hosts were delightful and available for everything we needed, including the adorable dog Stanley who kept us company and guided us on a little hike to the creek

I am so thankful I found this place to kick off our camping week. I have camped off the beaten path before and this was the best of both worlds, privacy and amazing surroundings but also flushing toilets and ice in the store! My kids kept talking about when we come back we have to bring the dogs. Easy hiking, wonderful creek, and nice hosts!!
