I LOVED this site! My biggest regret about this camp was that I didn't get to stay longer! Sophia, Rob, Mike, and the whole crew were super welcoming - they took the time to show me around and made sure my campsite was good to go. Highly recommend snagging the redwood site if you can AND DEF get a mineral bath! I'd gone for a solid hike earlier in the day and it was so delightful to soak in some hot mineral water (my skin was so smooth) as well as some incredible star-gazing.
This felt like a time machine back to 1970s California (wooden bridges with lights, outdoor flush toilets?! no outhouses here) in the BEST way possible. I can't wait to go back. Bonus points to Curty for the canine welcome - what a sweetie.

We loved the country feel and being remote, tucked away in the hills. You’re not on a concrete slab crammed in with tons of other campers. There are only 3 RV spots which are perfectly spaced apart. Jeff responded immediately to any questions we had and the tasting with his wife was delightful. Can’t wait to come back!

I had a great experience at the campground. It is a bit primitive so BYO food and water. With that expectation clearly set, it was a perfect experience. I wish I could’ve spent more time there.

We had a fantastic time at vinyl vinyards. It was not only beautiful but it had everything we needed. There was only one thing that might have enhanced our stay. Our host let us know in advance that there was a heater in the camper but we couldn't get it to work. Other than that, we really enjoyed it! Would love to go back!

My boyfriend, small dog and I stayed for a night. We wanted something inexpensive where we could drive right up to the site, had someone on site because we had never been to the area and were getting in after sunset, and was in a wooded rural surrounding.
The hosts were extremely friendly and hospitable. One of them met us at the entrance & took us around the property to explain the different site options (we were the only ones there! There were 8 different sites - all fairly close to each other, but I could tell that if multiple were full - you’d still have your own private space.) They brought us firewood and helped us set up our fire!
I saw some negative reviews about the junk yard … which I’m confused about?! I thought it was super cool. It’s not anywhere near where you actually camp… it’s right when you pull onto the land and then you drive probably half a mile into the woods. It was cool to see all the stuff they have collected. From airstreams, to big CATS, cars, etc. Yea, can look a little eerie at first, but it’s apart of the experience.
good place to stop and camp for a night when you are in between your trip. It’s super close to the town of Cambria - which has a ton of little restaurants, bars, etc. tons of farm animals surrounding.
One of the guys who lives on site there, Rob, has starlink at his house and allows you to connect to it!

Camping spot was awesome! Super clean, hammocks, weatherproof chairs and outdoor table at site. Quiet and yet not too far away from the town.
Bathrooms are maintained & clean. Nicley decorated too.

My partner and I stayed here for a couple of days mid-week, and it was divine. We hiked up the creek and took a little dip, visited the old mines, soaked in the mineral baths, and enjoyed the serene nature. The people who live on the property are also incredibly friendly and helpful. Such good energy! We will definitely be coming back!

We had a great stay in tent/rv site #8! Beautiful sunset and sunrise over the hills. Clean facilities, including warm showers! Super friendly hosts that were kind enough to let our kids meet the adorable alpacas. Also in such a great location - only minutes to town. Would love to come back to try the airstreams!

Cindy and her husband were very gracious to us. We arrived late and had difficulty finding their driveway. They came out to the main highway with their lights on and guided us in and provided us with a nice spot with hookups on a holiday weekend with out reservations. We are very grateful for their kindness.

My daughter and I stayed one night while on a road trip up the 101. It was super cute and everyone was so friendly. It's a working farm so even though there was no one to greet us when we arrived the signs direct you where to go and we got set up no problem. It's maintained but more wild, rustic nature, definitely not a glamping situation, just a heads up if that's not your style-we're used to backcountry and primitive camping so were self contained and prepared but there was running water and even a flush toilet in the outhouse.
While we were exploring everyone we came across stopped to chat and were all very welcoming. I forget his name (Rob or Bob maybe?) but the gentleman who lives in the cabin closest to the campsites was so nice, he showed us where a cool hike was that went to a stream and swimspot and even gave us plums straight from the tree by where we were camped! It's an easy drive not too far from the town of Cambria so you can enjoy the beach all day then head out to camp under the trees. Would definitely return.

The mineral bath experience was absolutely amazing! Also, the guy (I forgot his name) that lives close to the camp sites was very friendly, welcoming and helpful! He even gave us local grown cucumber, tomatoes, lettuce, and much more! I wish I could post a picture

Where to go
San Luis Obispo County
There's plenty to explore right in San Luis Obispo County, from pretty beaches to inland trails. Morro Strand State Beach offers ocean views with three miles of sandy shoreline known for their gusts, which are prime for windsurfing and kitesurfing, while Pismo Beach features two year-round campgrounds with easy access to surfing, dog-friendly walks, and fishing at the local pier. The Morro Bay State Park campground is perched on a saltwater lagoon teeming with shorebirds and home to both tent and RV camping sites with full hookups. Plus, campsite views of the 581-foot Morro Rock are a huge plus.
Santa Barbara County
Encompassing a good portion of the Central Coast region and the areas inland from it, Santa Barbara County offers a mix of chic communities and cute, old-timey towns, historic Spanish Colonial architecture, and a celebrated wine country. Popular state beaches include El Capitán State Beach and Refugio State Beach, both offering campsites year-round.
Los Padres National Forest
For a heavy dose of the great outdoors, head inland and into Los Padres National Forest, southeast of Cayucos. Here you'll find miles of hiking trails and lots of public campgrounds, some of which have views out on the ocean. Cerro Alto Campground is best for horseback riding and mountain biking trails, while other daytime activities include popping into Paso Robles for wine tasting.
When to go
With a mild, Mediterranean climate, Cayucos is a great place to go camping no matter the season, with highs rarely exceeding the upper 60s (and if they do, it's generally in late summer or early fall). Summers are dry, while winters get a bit of rainfall. Fall is the most popular time for surfing, while winter is a great time to see migratory whales.
