This is an extremely quiet spot with access through a private gate. It is a one minute walk from The Gateway Hiking and Biking trailhead and right on the way to Bunny Flat and further up the mountain. I do not have bathroom facilities, but I do have electricity and water. There is a covered cold water sink available to wash face/hands/dishes or to obtain drinking water. Winter reminder: We live at 4,000 ft and it is cold in the winter. There may be snow and you may need to do a little shoveling ( snow shovels are on property). Your vehicle should have all winter tires or chains, the campsite is not on a paved road and the site itself may not be plowed. The water to the cold water sink is shut off in the winter to avoid pipes freezing. There are no streetlights; we live in the country. There ARE lights at the property entrance gate.

Once you get off on exit number 698 heading north from Redding CA you travel 7.1 miles on Gilman rd toward Hirz bay. The green cattle fence is on your right hand side. The land is surrounded by a beautiful pine forest with mixed trees and offers stunning mountain views. Despite its privacy, it is only seven minutes from the boat launch at Hirz Bay. One beautifully landscaped acre with a goldfish and tadpole pond, waterfall, large grass area and view of Mount Shasta from some areas. This is my private home. This is an extremely quiet spot with access through a private gate. It is a one minute walk from The Gateway Hiking and Biking trailhead and right on the way to Bunny Flat and further up the mountain. I do not have bathroom facilities, but I do have electricity and water. There is a covered cold water sink available to wash face/hands/dishes or to obtain drinking water. Winter reminder: We live at 4,000 ft and it is cold in the winter. There may be snow and you may need to do a little shoveling ( snow shovels are on property). Your vehicle should have all winter tires or chains, the campsite is not on a paved road and the site itself may not be plowed. The water to the cold water sink is shut off in the winter to avoid pipes freezing. There are no streetlights; we live in the country. There ARE lights at the property entrance gate.

I loved my one night stay in Caboose #11! The caboose was clean and cozy, the hot tub was lovely in the rain, and dinner in the dining car was delicious. I had my dog with me and there were no problems with that, the property was dog-friendly as described (just had to pay a $25 pet fee when reserving through Hipcamp, not sure if that's the same if you book through their website directly). Everything was easy & nice! Would definitely stay here again.

I had the loveliest time in the goat shed. The space is small but well kitted out with the basics, like battery powered lights, a propane stove, water, dishes, towels and extra blankets. But when I arrived, I also found some extra treats, like nice lotion, oracle cards and hot water left out so that I could make tea when I arrived on a cold night. Johanna couldn't have been nicer. I will 100% come back the next time I'm passing through.

This was the perfect place to stop over on our trip down to Yosemite. Very close the highway, easy to find, and our spot was pretty level.
The hosts could not have been nicer! Johnathan and Wes truly cared that we were enjoying our stay and made sure that we had everything we needed to make us comfortable.
The majority of the park is full-time residents, however we felt safe and it was very quiet. We would stay here again if passing through the area.
Bonus: the laundry room was very clean and the washer/dryer actually worked very well! No extra time needed for our load of towels - which is always an awesome surprise!
