Tyler was a great host and his campsite is the perfect spot for anyone that wants to bring a group! Would definitely come back given the occasion. The amenities are really nice for camping for a big group. Kitchen area was great, bathrooms and showers are nice for people that aren’t too cut out for camping.

Can't say enough good things about Shay & Liz's campsite. Super warm and inviting, all the spaces are well thought out with attention paid to every detail to maximize ease and comfort. Having a dedicated camp sink and prep station was clutch. It was also amazing after a day out on the trail to come back to two warm showers on site. Loved that there were only a few sites so we didn't have to compete with 90 other campers for bathrooms or water. Borders the Russian Gulch State Park with miles of beautiful hikes, and if you mountain bike there's over 200 miles of single track right there as well. Oh also, Shay and Liz are about the nicest people you could ever meet. 100% recommend, can't wait to come back!

This was gorgeous, magical land, and we loved being there. The road down was a bit more of a pilgrimage than we anticipated, but 1000% worth the journey. The waterfall pools were incredible, and our pup was in heaven too. Thank you for sharing such special land with us- we hope to return!

Fantastic stay at Shay & Liz’s Stargazer site at Waterfall Camp near Mendocino. Shay met us after we settled in and was extremely friendly, made us feel welcome and answered all our questions. They have created a well maintained/clean and provide a perfect setting for a weekend getaway. The camp is well located next to Russian Gulch State Park hiking trails too! Would highly recommend this HipCamp site!

Weekend Trip to Heartwood Mendocino

Words can’t quite capture how special this place is. The cabin we stayed in was spotless—immaculately clean—and clearly built with love and incredible attention to detail. Every morning, I woke up in awe, admiring the craftsmanship and the thoughtfulness that went into creating such a warm, magical space. The grounds are equally stunning—peaceful, beautifully maintained, and perfect for soaking in the natural beauty around you. And if you’re a hiker, runner, or mountain biker, this is a dream location. You can leave your car parked and hit the trails straight from your cabin door. Truly one of the best stays I’ve had. Can’t wait to come back

Weekend Trip to A California Dream: Camp Hoppy

We loved camp hoppy! It was a beautiful space, clean, open with plenty of land for the dogs to run around in. The creek was a short hike down and we had a great time in the water. It was a hot weekend for May but the redwoods at the campsite provided adequate shade and it was a lot cooler than expected.

The sites by the stream are amazing. Listening to the water all night was so peaceful! It’s a plus that they have electrical outlets as well. The facilities are great, but since it was a holiday the garbage was overflowing and bathrooms a bit messy. Assuming they didn’t have enough staff on Memorial Day.

Weekend Trip to Private sunny forest near the coast

The spot was exactly as described. The table and chairs were super handy. The composting toilet was fine. The step is a little steep but it was tidy and there was plenty of organic material to scoop on top. I'm glad I read everything and brought my own TP because there was none available. I did hear a few cars driving by but I felt very secure and "unseen". As others have mentioned, a neighbor has dogs that bark but I only heard them a couple of times during my 4 days and they settled down pretty quickly - I heard the faint barking but it wasn't incessant. My Kia soul has no problem maneuvering in and out of the property. There is an unavoidable dip as you turn onto the main road when leaving the driveway and my car scraped - perhaps a car with higher clearance would do better? Overall this was a great spot for a home base close while I was exploring. It is 15 min to downtown Mendocino where there are shops and restaurants and markets and there are lots of state parks before and after.

Cabin 6 has two luxurious queen beds with heated bed pads, cozy bedding, stunning woodwork, electricity and even a heater for the cold nights.

Most relaxing place to unwind and let go. Outdoor redwood shower, outdoor kitchen, communal fire pit, dining room with hot water for showers , heating pad in beds, and friendly staff. Quiet and tranquil outdoor spaces. Many nice touches found throughout camp. The decorative plants , flowers , little nice flowers in bathrooms. The wooden tables and sectioned off areas with their own themes .

Weekend Trip to Jug Handle Creek Farm

We loved our weekend at Jughandle! We camped with a larger group and reserved the big site #11, as well as several smaller sites nearby. Everyone was in awe of the peaceful, beautiful surroundings. We had our teenagers with us who loved hiking the trail out to the bluffs for evening sunsets. The walk to the beach was about 15 minutes through beautiful forest, only to stumble upon one of the most gorgeous ocean coves in California. This is a very special place and we will be coming back.

We loved staying at Spirit Chicken Ranch! We had a group of 25 adults and kids and our whole group had a blast and really enjoyed spreading out across the sites. The outdoor kitchen was amazing to have - I was pleasantly surprised at how well its stocked and how convenient it was, especially for a large group. There were two cabins each with a queen bed which was nice for those that dont love camping as much :) We all hiked the 1/2 mile down to the waterfall, the last decline was pretty tricky but a cool dip on the waterfall made it worth it. The kids loved swimming in the pond and the sauna was enjoyed by all. There was space for an epic ladder ball tournament and room for us all by the fire pit. Thank you Chris for sharing your beautiful land!

Timber Cove Campground

Located right off coastal US highway 1, Timber Cove campground sits right at the edge of breathtaking, oceanside cliffs. We are situated on roughly two acres of land, with multiple campsites for tent/car camping or RV’s. Each campsite has a picnic table, fire pit and water. Electricity is available to use for an extra fee. We have separate men’s and women’s flush bathrooms, with coin-operated hot showers. We have firewood with kindling for sale on site, payable with cash or Venmo. Please take note of local fire bans, when in effect. Dog friendly, though be advised a leash is recommended as we are close to the road, but they can run leash-free down at the beach. We are located 30 minutes north of the town of Jenner, with Gualala 30 minutes to the north. Gualala has grocery stores, a post office, and some shops. Fort Ross Store is located one mile down the road, just before Timber Cove, and sells basic food necessities, drinks, sandwiches, ice and gas. Internet cell service can be spotty in our area, depending on your provider, so bring your own Starlink services if you have them. We also have access to the beach below, and offer beach camping as well. Take note that the road down to the beach is steep with uneven terrain. The weather can vary quickly here, so be sure to bring multiple layers of clothing and camp gear for various types of weather, and headlamps are useful for getting around the property at night! We hope you’ll come visit our little slice of heaven on the ocean cliffs, gaze at the stars, marvel at the sunsets, watch the harbor seals dozing on their rocks and the many bird species that inhabit our property. Learn more about this land: The site is in a forested area with short pine and manzanita trees, so its nice and sunny, just out of the daily fog zone that blankets the coast, but only 3 miles from the coast. The neighborhood is super quiet and you can walk right from here to the Pygmy State Park trail system or just on the gravel neighborhood road. There is a main tent site and another tent site and places for 2 cars or more or a small travel trailer or van (20' length ok). There's a place for at least 2-3 tents and there is a table with 3 chairs provided. Also a metal box to keep your food away from bears that might come by (haven't had that happen yet). No campfires please but propane/gas cook stoves are fine. 50 gallons of potable water is provided from a tank. Please conserve water. Keep all food in your vehicle as there are bears and forest critters around. Outhouse with new, clean composting toilet, environmentally friendly! There has been an ornery squirrel that keeps ripping up the toilet paper so please bring your own. Use this lat/long as Google Maps doesn't like my address- 39.2581451131371, -123.723920996094. Brief directions- coming from the coast on Little River Airport Rd, turn right on "Posted Rd. 18/Sundew Lane" sign, stay right at the fork, first driveway on the right (funky oval painted sign as pictured).
