Weekend Trip to JP Longstock Ranch

We loved staying with Jodi on her ranch, which is located in a great, quiet area with beautiful views. The ranch is to get to, and Jodi is amazing, a great communicator and a host! She went above and beyond for us, took the time to take us out for food, show us all the best local spots, and ensured we had everything we needed. There are horses, dogs, a goat, and more… all extremely well behaved and friendly. Jodi even gave us a riding lesson and let us help her with the horses. It was a truly healing stay. We will be back. Thank you Jodi!!!

Weekend Trip to Ranch Blooms

As Elizabeth stated the incline was steep but nothing the truck and camper couldn't handle. It was nice and quiet. For the most part it felt private. A downside was that the sap that got all over the truck from the tree near by but we can easily wash that off. I liked that Elizabeth was encouraging us to get out and find the whales and dolphins even though we didn't see any. She was still very encouraging. She was happy enough to put her dog in knowing we have one too. I would recommend this if you like someone who let's you do your own thing and doesn't bother you.

Very private spot! Our dogs loved having space to explore. Perfect spot for our toddler to ride his bike!

Weekend Trip to Saddle Up Camp

We had a great night camping at Saddle Up! We were on Site 12 which was well described and perfectly located for a great sunset view. The directions to the site were on point and our family enjoyed meeting the horses and goats! Perfect for an overnight stay. The owner was super friendly and next time we will definitely explore the horseback riding available.

Weekend Trip to Mystic Canyon Inn

We stayed in the Tipi and we found the property charming but not as nice as the photos made it seem. There’s a lot of clutter around the property and it doesn’t seem very well maintained. Lots of spider webs everywhere, there was a cockroach in my suitcase(fyi don’t leave your suitcase on the floor), only one bathroom for multiple guests and they have 3 chickens which sound like little dinosaurs in the morning and throughout the day. The shower floor is starting to crumble and fall apart but with all that said I’d still recommend this place. The muffins, coffee, fridge and outdoor kitchen were a nice touch and good place to hang out and enjoy a meal. Overall we had a good experience and slept well.

This is my favorite hipcamp. We've stayed here 3 times in the last 5 years. This last time we brought our teenage children and they loved it and are already asking to go back. It's beautiful, peaceful, unique, fun, and adventurous. Just the right amount of everything!

I loved parking my van at the Cozy Corner. Lexi was helpful, kind and understanding. I was able to rest and rejuvenate after my drive from NY. This place and the people were so welcoming, I felt like I could stay forever. I almost hate to give a glowing review because selfishly, I want to make sure it’s not booked up when I come back through!!!! Met and exceeded my expectations. I will be staying here again soon!!! Weekend Trip to Earthbag Tiny House

This place is awesome!! It’s just the right amount of peaceful nature getaway with the essential amenities. I absolutely loved how dog friendly it was, especially the backyard being clear of anything sharp so my dogs could play without me worrying. The shower, grills, sink, and outdoor fire pit worked out great. It is June in the desert so temps were in the 90s/high 80s during the day. It cooled down at night + there is a ceiling fan but I would recommend bringing a little fan for the windows if you’re going on the summer. The house holds heat really well which I am sure is a huge pro in the winter but it can take a while to cool down inside if you go in the summer months. Really wasn’t too hot though, the ceiling fan helps a lot. Everything was VERY clean and Lucas even provided a clean bath towel, kitchen towel, toilet paper, paper towels, and a water jug! I would definitely recommend a vehicle with AWD or 4WD because the driveway is a bit steep and is not paved. Overall I had a great stay and already can’t wait to come back!

My girlfriend and I had a great stay here! We stayed at site 11, which was very close and a great view of the horses, had a picnic table, grill, fire pit, and plenty of space. All the animals are beautiful and well taken care of by the owners. We highly recommend this place, and encourage tips for the hard work and expense the owners put in, and the lives they save and give a better life to. Thank you to TJ for being so kind and welcoming!

Weekend Trip to Desert Dreamland

The owner's instructions were essential! We arrived late evening (not recommended) but were able to still find the gate to the campsite. The pinpoint map link provided helped to show that the small path to turn into the campsite is before the listed address (same side of the road). The "make your own hike" was such a luxury! Plenty of space to explore, large rocks to boulder, and on-site trails provide options for difficulty depending on preference. Private and calm, perfect for our cattle breed dog to roam off leash during our hikes. Amazing view of the vista on one side, the valley/canyon to the other. So beautiful especially at dusk! The desert heat/dryness is no exaggeration-even at just 90 degrees! As forewarned by Marlon, shade structure and plenty of liquids were essential. We experienced some winds during the day, but they flowed in a stable direction. Fortunately, our shade structure held up, staking our poles down and using the stable picnic table bench for added bracing were critical. Fortunate too with the weather during the last weekend of May, as we experienced a refreshing 10-degeee drop in temp on our second day. Thank you Marlon for offering this opportunity for our family to have a memorable experience in the desert!

My dog & I loved walking around the gorgeous property- so green, lovely flowers, & koi fish! Lexi was absolutely wonderful, everyone on site was so helpful and nice. The fellows campers were very friendly. I used the RV site with an electrical hook up- it was a nice spot, convenient plug in, Lexi sent specific directions to the location. And GREAT price!!! They have a full kitchen, lounge area, & washing machines available. I stayed for an event 30 minutes away and told everyone there about this place. Definitely check it out!!

Saddle Up Ranch is a lovely, tranquil place to camp and a horse lovers paradise. My family were amazed with the beauty of these rescued horses that all seemed so sweet and friendly. We are looking forward to come back for a trail ride. The goats are super cute.

It was only a short drive from downtown San Diego and was super easy to navigate. Once we arrived the experience was TRULY MAGICAL. We had such an awesome experience exploring the property, birdwatching, hiking and some light climbing. Don't forget to check out the cave! The facilities were beyond expectations and we had a seamless experience. Steve was super accommodating and was great at communicating—he even gave us a small tour of the property! The sunsets and sunrises here were something out of a dream, we wish we could wake up every morning here. We will definitely be coming back soon!"

Our family has owned this property for nearly fifty years. We currently have one site available - “Desert Mountain Scenic Overlook” - at this time. More sites coming soon! Learn more about this site: This campsite is extremely private and serene with beautiful epic views and a wide open feel. The site is located most of the way up a small mountain but at the base of a larger one if you want to hike up to the top for even better views. You can also hike down and around to explore more of the surrounding nature preserve (over 3,000 acres completely engulfing our 20 acre property), which includes a seasonal creek, granite boulders, and miles of hiking trails. You will find wild sage and buckwheat shrubs growing all over the property, as well as vibrant seasonal wildflowers. The campsite is set far back from roads so it is very peaceful and quiet and allows you to feel free to enjoy yourselves without worrying much about noise. The large flat pad is spacious and should be able to accommodate any sized camper/trailer/RV. There is fresh potable mountain spring water and a septic hookup available at the site. There is currently no water hookup for RV’s and there is no restroom facility (we are planning to install a composting or pit toilet soon). Please come fully equipped with a Luggable Loo or something similar. Access to the site is on a maintained dirt road with cutouts for water run off. 4WD is not necessary. Please be prepared though, the road in has some narrow, hilly, curvy stretches. It could appear challenging or intimidating to people with larger rigs. If you have a class A motorhome and are hoping to visit, please message me first and let me know and we can discuss whether the road in will work for you. We are currently in the process of beautifying the area and will post more updated photos soon of the actual site. *Note: Our solar pump went out so the outdoor shower is not currently functional. Also, the site is still a work in progress so there may be some lumber and areas of the site still in the process of being completed.

On occasion you may see deer, Bob cats, mountain lion along with endangered kangaroo mice, The beautiful night sky is easy to see planets and shooting stars without the interruption of city lights. There are many trails to walk, hike, bike and horse back ride where you can discover large boulders in different shapes and sizes along with hidden caves. A variety of rocks and minerals can be found for those rock hound enthusiasts as well. At the camp site you will find a horseshoe pit ,indoor and outdoor games and treasure hunts for everyone to enjoy. If you want to bring your own set of golf clubs you can even hit some balls! Pets and horses are welcome. We provide Two horse corrals with feed buckets and access to water. There is a outdoor dog kennel. There are off road areas nearby. Bring your motor bike, quad or buggy and throw up some dirt. Not to far there is a Casino, small store and a restaurant and about 30 minutes away from the Temecula wineries. You don’t have to worry about packing up a bunch of camping equipment, our camp provides a 35 foot RV big enough for 6 people if you prefer a roof over your head and a place to sit down for a meal runs off a generator ( you will need to provide your own fuel. it is a 5 gallon capacity). and has indoor and outdoor lights and electrical outlets to plug in a fan or your phone and, there is a to use. We have a cooler for you to use bu you will need to provide your own ice. There are dishes and utensils and a toilet. and water in and outside (You will need to bring your own blankets, sleeping bags and towels). Also provided arepropane b.b.q, propane fire ring, outdoor bench, table and camp chairs. There is enough room on this property to bring your own camper, RV or tent or ? but it must be self contained. About the property Our property is in the high desert above Borrego Springs at 4,300'. We border Anza Borrego State property which means you’ll be adjacent to plenty of beautiful open spaces. There are many trails in the park which lead to the desert floor from our fence line. On a clear day you can see the Salton Sea from the bottom of the property. We have great access to nearby points of interest including Borrego Springs which is 20 miles away, Anza Borrego State Park which is adjacent to Julian at 40 miles away, Palomar observatory which is 40 miles away and Cuyamaca Lake which is fantastic for fishing only 45 miles away. If you need to pop into town for any supplies or services you can access Borrego Springs (20 miles away), Julian (40 miles away), Ramona (45 miles away), and Temecula (50 miles away). We have 3 horseshoe pits and 9 frisbee golf baskets for recreation onsite and we have incredible dark skies for excellent stargazing. You may see many different forms of wildlife including mountain lions, coyotes, foxes, bob cats, racoons, badgers, and rattle snakes. You will see many rabbits, squirrels and tons of birds of all kinds! We are really the perfect location for those who love the outdoors! Owners live on site but we like to greet, meet, and then leave you to your stay! Please reach out if you have questions or concerns though. About the listing Our listing is for tents, vans and truck campers, trailers, or RV’s and we can accommodate rigs up to 25ft in length. A few of our 5 sites are pull through sites on dirt and may require some leveling. All sites are dry camping only as we do not have any hookups, though there are two bathrooms and water available in a centralized area on the property. You can expect High desert and scrub brush environments. Any vehicle should be able to access our property but 4-wheel drive vehicle might make it a little easier to access areas on the outside perimeter of the property. While staying with us you can expect some noise from coyotes, raven….wind and a little highway traffic on s22. Each site will accommodate up to 6 people.
