Tipi rental is a camping experience only; it does not have electricity, a/c or heat. There are solar lights inside. We do have a Queen Sized outdoor bed and bedding available to add to rental for $10/night.
Bunkhouse is a camping experience - bring your own bedding. A/C, heat, electricity, TV & DVDs, Microwave, and Mini fridge are inside. Guests use campground restrooms

This 55 acre park is home of a large sandstone that contains 8 markings believed to have been made by Vikings many years ago. The park features a seasonal waterfall, covered picnic areas, playground, amphitheater with seating, community building, scenic views, gift shop and approximately 2 miles of nature trails. Be advised that most tent sites have a tent pad but a few are primitive mountain terrain (rocky). A beautiful and simple get away tucked in below Poteau Mountain near Hartford AR. Spend all day on the miles of ATV trails that litter the mountain. We are also located near the Wolf Pen Gap ATV trails, and guests can ride directly to the trails from their RV site. Located in beautiful Montgomery County, Arkansas; Montgomery County was formed on December 9, 1842, and named for Gen. Richard Montgomery, a hero of the American Revolution. Sixty-three percent of the county is national forest land.
We are a short scenic 12 mile drive from Little Missouri Falls, Bard Springs, and Albert Pike with area hiking trails, cascading waterfalls, and beautiful backroads. We are within 10 miles of the Caddo River and local canoe rental. Glenwood is 20 minutes away with gas stations, restaurants, and flea markets. Wegner Crystal Mine is located in Mt Ida, approx 40 minutes from our park. We are within a hour drive of Hot Springs; Bathhouse Row, Garvin Woodland Gardens, Mountain Tower, Crystal Ridge Distillery, Magic Springs, various tourist activities, restaurants and shopping. Mena is located within an hour drive of our park; Blue Zipline, restaurants, shopping.

IMPORTANT River Usage: Southfork of the Caddo River is an extraordinary body of water and considered non-navigable; guest's may FLOAT down the MIDDLE of the creek for fishing, swimming, kayaking but must enter on our property, guest may not step out of the floating device on another person's private creek property and must remain in the floating device; during your stay guest's must stay within our private property creek footage for swimming or wading in the creek, if guest's encounter anyone along the river that does not allow this recreational activity please refer them to us, so we can refer it to the local game and fish department for investigation. It is always useful to carry your video camera with you so there is no he said, she said. We encourage our guest's to use the local lakes (Fancy Hill Lake, Lake Ouachita and Lake Greeson) and USFS streams for fishing and wading including the beautiful Little Missouri Falls.

It's a great location for romantic getaways, silent personal retreats, yoga, playing in the river, or just spending quiet one-on-one time with your spouse or significant other. The last 1/2 mile of dirt road is a little rough, so cars with very low ground clearance are not recommended.
Campers on Thunder Mountain enjoy the entire property by themselves - including the unique outdoor bathhouse with outdoor tub and shower, impressive multi-level decks, kayaks, grill, trails, hammocks, and tubes - without the cost of the cabin. The cabin on the property will be vacant during camping stays, but you can still enjoy the WiFi and other amenities outside.
Pricing: $30-90/night camping; $190-280/night cabin - listed separately. Last minute bookings may have discounted rates. Camping bookings for 1 to 2 nights are sometimes available even if the calendar does not show availability (due to cabin cleaning days). We'll try to move our cleaning days around to help you out if possible. If the price looks really high (like $999), that is a date that is available at a low price ($30-50) but will have a later check-in or earlier check-out time. We are a short scenic 12 mile drive from Little Missouri Falls, Bard Springs, and Albert Pike with area hiking trails, cascading waterfalls, and beautiful backroads. We are within 10 miles of the Caddo River and local canoe rental. Glenwood is 20 minutes away with gas stations, restaurants, and flea markets. Wegner Crystal Mine is located in Mt Ida, approx 40 minutes from our park. We are within a hour drive of Hot Springs; Bathhouse Row, Garvin Woodland Gardens, Mountain Tower, Crystal Ridge Distillery, Magic Springs, various tourist activities, restaurants and shopping. Mena is located within an hour drive of our park; Blue Zipline, restaurants, shopping.

We encourage our guest's to use the local lakes (Fancy Hill Lake, Lake Ouachita and Lake Greeson) and USFS streams for fishing and wading including the beautiful Little Missouri Falls.

We enjoyed our stop at Heavener Runestone Park. The terrain is hilly and scenic. Our highlight was watching the sun set from the scenic overlook. The amenities are a bit faded, but functional. This was a comfortable place to spend the night on our way south. It was fun to learn about this odd bit of history, too!

My family and I loved tent camping here! The views were beautiful! We were at site #8, it was very pretty and peaceful. Lots of trees for nice shade and great spot for a hammock. There even happened to be a big event at the overlook one of the days we were there, but there was still enough separation that it wasn’t too loud and we still felt like we had our privacy. The Runestone didn’t disappoint! We thought it was cool. We really enjoyed hiking the trails too.

The campsite was absolutely lovely! The forest felt more like the Black Hills, SD. I had no idea Oklahoma could look like this. It was SO peaceful I could've been 100 miles from civilization, yet Hevener was nestled beautifully in the valley below. Hearing those spooky train horns every hour or so was neat-my boy couldn't get enough! The short hike to the runestone was fun, and that sweet young lady in the gift shop went outta her way for our yard game. What a cozy Oklahoma spot! Terrain was a bit rough and steep and rocky so be advised.

Excellent campsite for our first time visiting the park! The trails were great and easy to navigate, amenities offered worked well, and the host was communicative too. If you plan to stay at this campsite (or probably anywhere in the park), just be mindful there’s a very active train station below the park so you’ll hear it both day & night—earplugs were an essential for me. However, that doesn’t deter my recommendation. The fall leaves were gorgeous, so we picked the perfect weekend to stay.

A quaint little park with unique history and the perfect hikes for beginners or those needing an hour to waltz with nature. You're outside of town but not so far away that running back for something you forgot to be a real problem. Campsites are as you would expect, a platform that is just big enough for our large sundome tent (8 person), a firepit and metal grill for each site and a concrete and wood picnic table. They even have shepherd hooks for campers to hang a lantern or lights. The camping area is lit up at night by a string of bulb lights, giving just enough glow to get down to the bathrooms without being a nuisance when trying to sleep. A wonderful setup for a relaxing weekend. My son and I were the only people in the park at one point and it was very peaceful. Crows, woodpeckers, and squirrels abound but not much else in the way of wildlife. A definite for families or someone looking for a quiet place to pitch a tent or hang a hammock.

A truly delightful place! So many thoughtful details like a porch swing by the river and adutch door on the rustic john so sunrise can be seen from the rustic throne. The privacy and quiet provided by the entire place being our own was grand. I've taken the baths at Hot Springs bathhouses and the outdoor bath at Thunder Mountain way surpassed them. Communication was great. The trails were wonderful. The entire property is well cared for . We heard two kinds of owls, saw hawks, an eagle and kingfishers. Saw three different kinds of lizards. I caught a large mouth bass and saw lots of fish hanging out in the clear waters.
