Weekend Trip to Fox Pass Retreat and Campground

Fox Pass Retreat is just that- a retreat! It's located in a quiet area between/20 minutes away from Paris and Booneville, which are big enough to have all the amenities. It's a pretty area with lots of nature to watch for. I stayed in their treehouse for the weekend. The hosts, Jasmine and Roger, graciously extended my stay on the front end when they had a cancellation. They have put a lot of thought into this getaway, with artistic touches, including Jasmine's stained glass creations, areas for kids to play, and a map of the hiking trails on their land. Jasmine and Roger were very kind and accessible, eager to chat or leave me to myself. They're the kind of folks you'd want to keep in touch with.

We loved our stay at Sacred Pines! We stayed in one of the tiny home cabins. Beautifully constructed, had everything we needed and more. The grounds surrounding us were a beautiful spot to walk our puppies around. Super peaceful and close to so many awesome hiking trails. Not great cell service out there (it’s the country, duh. We loved it, really made us more present and hangout with each other rather than be on screens) Perk: our tiny cabin had an awesome pizza oven that we used to make some home made pizza after a long hike! Thank you Miranda for creating such an awesome space, we will be back

This place is always great. I bring my dog and she loves running down to the river and through the field. You can see the stars super well on the right nights and sunsets are always awesome. There’s a gas station about 5 minutes down the road where you can restock and a Walmart in Mena is about 30 minutes away. If you want an easy hike, Southern Loop Trail is a good pick around Mena — it’s part of the Earthquake Ridge Trail system just west of town, right off U.S. Highway 270 and only took about 45 mins to do.

Absolutely fantastic off grid camping in the heart of a vast trail system if you like to go atv riding and if not its a perfect place to hang out a while away from the world! We trail road some days and kayaked a park of the river right off the camp site the other days. We have stayed at both site 1 and 2 at different times and love them both.

End of the trail was an amazing getaway from all the modern world. The river was right there, the site was gorgeous and had amenities I was not expecting but glad to have access to. The area was peaceful and simply gorgeous. My dogs loved the area as well and my child got to enjoy the site of cows in the field across the river.

The treehouses at End of the Trail were very cute and comfortable. Everything you need except bedding. No water though, and the porta potty was far away near Site #1. We stayed at Site #2 Freebird. The River bottom is too muddy for swimming, but the frogs, cicadas, owls, and lightning bugs made up for it. Could hear some highway noise but did not wake me up. Site #1 has a side creek that moves swifter and we rinsed off in it bc no one was there. Felt very safe. Great not to have to set up a tent.

Weekend Trip to Sacred Pines

We stayed at Sacred Pines for our anniversary and such a relaxing time. We loved playing frisbee golf and cornhole, and even had a couple surprise visits from their sweet dogs! The loft bed can be a little tricky to get up to, but I have to say, it was one of the most comfortable beds! The whole place had a peaceful vibe, and we definitely recommend it. We hope to stay here again someday for sure.

Assorted sporting equipment for use. Fishing poles. Yamaha Zuma 50cc scooter. Laptop computers, short-throw projector and media-dedicated harddrives available. Wrap-around window and screened-in back porch with futon, lazy boy, dining table, radio and propane dryer(washing machine on porch as well just not enclosed:) Back porch and guest bedroom(single) are solar/battery-powered with AC inverter. Plenty of spots to pitch a tent, open and covered. Screened-in Hampton Bay gazebo with air mattress has happened. Cob and mortared cabin 200ft from house atop enough of a hill with professionally installed 7ft Olhausen pool table, surround stereo, wood stove, fun and games and is solar/battery powered. Property is smack-dab Crystalville and 7 miles from Norman town center. Home to the smallest freestanding public library in the world. Founded during the Great Depression by the local ladies auxiliary club and remains open a few days a week thanks to wonderful volunteers. A newer dollar general and short order convenience store with gas station anchors the town. More or less equal distance from Mena and Hot Springs.
