This spacious land is over 4 acres of high desert with breathtaking 360 degree views. There is so much potential for amazing adventures. You could go fishing in Williams or have a snowball fight in Flagstaff. If you have never seen the Grand Canyon you are in for an ultimate life changing experience. The dark night skies in this area may just keep you at camp. You can see every star out here and enjoy the escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. With wide open spaces you have so much room to play. The road to the property is about 0.8 miles and is considered dirt rugged. It will require you to so down under 5 miles an hour in a few places. You have the entire road to travel on and maneuver around the big bumps. I drive my car to the property ever time and don't have an issue if I slow down and go around large holes. If there is a recent storm in the area the road will be difficult to navigate.

Back to basics with endless desert sky. Hike giant rock sculptures, gather petrified wood, maybe find the hidden pond or seasonal Little Colorado to splash in . Bathed in the Canyon's ethereal ambiance, powdery views of Navajo Plateau and snowy San Francisco Peaks await. This is “Stone Soup,” in honor of unique geology and a folktale where everyone brings something to make a whole greater than its parts. A hut, built with love during musical campouts, materials are recycled from building sites may be available, on a first-come first serve basis, but please don't count on anything being there but the open land and sky. There are 40 acres to explore and camp on. You can follow the property boundaries, or just head straight out from the hut away from the road or on the other side of the road for at least half a mile and camp anywhere. You can drive all over the land in a regular vehicle and find your spot. If you do use the hut, please leave it in better shape than you found it. Same with the land. Here is my vision: Adventurous, creative, nature-loving kindred souls can converge on these 40 acres and bring what they need but also share with one another (the stone soup spirit). Although you do need to take in and out everything (water, food, bedding...) and there is no outhouse at the moment (dunes for some privacy, and thinly bury your waste), you can drive anywhere on the land and have what you need in your vehicle. It sometimes gets windy, so car-camping is recommended over tents, though you can also bring your RV. Basically at the moment, this is an isolated, wild campsite, with total peace and quiet but where you bring everything. There is no running water, cooking supplies, or toilet. You may find firewood further down the road, and can have a fire anytime, but nothing is supplied. You will need to take your trash with you. The photos are not up to date and still show amenities that are not there. The hut may be available, but it is just a structure with no door. Also note that there is no way to get there with Google maps/ GPS coordinate. I will send detailed directions if you book, but you probably want to arrive with some daylight. If prepared to rough it, it's a gorgeous site with open sky, amazing views, stars, rocks, and silence.

If your GPS takes you into Williams that is the wrong location. IMPORTANT NOTE: The last one mile to the location is a bumpy dirt road. Imagine the worst road you’ve been on - this is slightly better and if this is the worst you’ve been on .. well then live a little. In the past, some people complained about the dirt road not being in good shape due to rains. Please know that we are not responsible for or even aware of the road conditions to the property. Unfortunately, the county has done no maintenance since the early 1990s and has no plans to. The quotes we have received to fix just the worst parts have been between $35,000 and $50,000. Lastly, check the signs on the way in the area about fire danger and whether you are able to have a campfire or not. If you are allowed, please make sure to fully extinguish it. Very quiet. Scenery is beautiful. Sunsets are spectacular. My GPS took me to the exact location. It was a clear lot, with plenty of space for my 3 kids and a 9 person tent. If y are looking for solitude but not far from a town or other people, this is the place. Would definitely book again.

this is the perfect cabin retreat to escape a busy life and a busy world. I wanted to disconnect from everything and I found the perfect spot.. this cabin is located in a small community and I heard no leaf blowers, ATV noise, or car noise. The only sounds were bird song and the wind blowing through the Aspens. I enjoyed the off grid aspect of this cabin. There were solar lights in the evening and a hand pump at the kitchen sink for water.. I spent most of my time on the front porch, reading books, and watching a little bird build a nest up in the rafters of the porch. The COmmunity is high and cool at 8200 feet elevation.. I was surrounded by majestic Aspen and pines. I highly recommend this cabin retreat if you want to escape the world and get back to nature. No asphalt and no noise made it perfect for me.. The host was very responsive and we had no issues.

The Glamper Cabin is so cozy and well appointed. It was the perfect escape from the Texas heat. We spent most of our time on the porch watching birds, playing cards and just soaking up the quite mountain air. We got just enough service to play music but were able to stay pretty shielded from the rest of the world. Very tranquil stay.

We loved staying at Highland. The hosts have really put so much effort into sharing the beautiful land they're on with others, including water and power. The showers were super clean and comfortable and the beds super clean and cozy as well. Keep in mind the temperature extremes - I think the tent heated up too quickly in the morning/early afternoon and it got very cold at night. Fortunately the tent has a heated mattress that kept us warm! Finally, try to book a stay during a cleared sky new moon night. You won't forget the sight of the Milky Way from here.
