Escape to the untouched beauty of Arizona's Aravaipa Canyon region, where the rugged Sonoran Desert meets star-filled skies that will take your breath away. Nestled between Graham Mountain and the Galiuro Mountain Range, this secluded campsite offers a rare opportunity to disconnect completely and immerse yourself in nature's raw splendor. With minimal light pollution in this protected valley, you'll experience some of the most spectacular stargazing in Arizona—the kind of celestial display that reminds you why people have been drawn to the desert for millennia. Just a short drive away, the legendary Aravaipa Canyon Wilderness awaits with its perennial creek, towering canyon walls, and lush riparian habitat that stands in stunning contrast to the surrounding desert. Known as one of Arizona's premier wilderness areas, Aravaipa Canyon is home to over 200 bird species, desert bighorn sheep, and a remarkable diversity of wildlife drawn to its year-round flowing water. The canyon's slot sections and cottonwood-lined creek make for unforgettable hiking, though permits are required and limited to preserve this ecological treasure. While you're exploring the area, don't miss the historic Klondyke Store—a century-old trading post that has served ranchers, miners, and travelers since the early 1900s, offering a genuine taste of old Arizona and a connection to the region's frontier heritage. This is authentic backcountry camping for those who crave true wilderness. Our site is completely off-grid—no phone service, no electricity, no amenities—which means you'll experience the desert exactly as it's meant to be: wild, quiet, and transformative. Come prepared with everything you need and practice leave-no-trace principles (pack-in, pack-out). Whether you're seeking solitude, adventure, or simply a night under stars so bright you can read by them, this remote canyon location delivers an experience that's increasingly rare in our connected world.

Bakers Akers is located in what used to be Nebblett, New Mexico but is now Virden, New Mexico. The one room Nebblett school house was located on this property. Virden was settled by the Mormons when they were ran out of old Mexico by Poncho Villa. Kit Carson took this route guiding General Kearney and the Army of the west to California during the Mexican American war. It is now being discussed that Coronado may have come through this area also. The farm was used for breeding and training race horses. It is now a cow/calf operation. Learn more about this land: Camp on the Gila River amongst the century old Cottonwoods and Mulberry trees, with Bermuda grass carpeting. Plenty of shade to pitch a tent or park under. Wildlife abounds with deer, beaver, turkeys, javelina, and a large variety of birds. Located on a eighty acre cattle ranch. Quiet with great views of stars at night and majestic mountains in the day. The camp grounds are located beyond the cattle pastures and next to the Gila River. Fire pits available and plenty of wood to gather for burning. Eleven miles from the historic town of a Duncan Arizona, filled with little markets, craft store, antique shop, rock shop, and home town restaurants, if any needs arise or an itch needs scratching. With prior notice and extra fees a New Mexican dutch-oven dinner and hayride can be included.
