Hawks Hideaway Camping, LLC

17 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents7 acres · Cottonwood, AZ
We offer various camping accommodations, as well as a teepee. See our different listings for info on each. A few choice examples of local activities to do on or very near to our campsite include: Bird watching, hiking, river rafting or tubing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, horseback riding, stargazing, and even rockhounding. This area conforms to the Arizona Dark Sky initiative, and while we are not dark-sky certified, we've had several guests compliment us on our location. When it comes to rockhounding, or amateur geology, this is a fantastic area for exploration and study.  The cliff walls of the Verde River offer clear and distinct sedimentary layers, and the frequent flooding of the massive sandy riverbed reveals countless undiscovered treasures. We gladly welcome pets, including horses, as long as the guests inform us of their presence, and takes care of all their needs, including cleaning up any mess. There is a professional horse-boarding field and stables adjacent to our property, and a long pleasant trail allows horseback riders to follow the Verde Greenway into Old Town Cottonwood if they so desire. Please remember that this is a natural and secluded spot located directly adjacent to the state-maintained Verde Ripparian Greenway and the Verde River. This means you may encounter wildlife and pests associated with being in such close connection to nature. Be prepared to tuck your food away and bring ample protection from the insects.

Sacred Springs

Sacred Springs A phenomenal, sacred, riparian corridor. Sacred Springs offers a retreat for seekers of natures serenity and spiritual renewal. Just up the creek from the iconic Montezuma Castle National Monument and down from the enchanting Montezuma Well. Your journey will begin long before you arrive, as you enter into the sacred river valley and embark on the primitive road that leads to our desert oasis. From our campsites, you'll have the remarkable opportunity to witness the echoes of the past and the pulse of the present, as a active view of the nearby I-17 highway traces the path of this ancient route. As travelers journey along this prehistoric corridor, their footsteps echo those of countless generations who traversed these lands long before us. Driving atop the mesa, you'll feel the powerful energy of the desert enveloping you and by the time you reach Sacred Springs you’ll sense, the immense potential for transformation and connection that awaits you. Our campsites have breathtaking, panoramic sunrise and sunset views and overlooks a powerful confluence of Wet Beaver Creek and Dry Beaver Creek. While Sacred Springs offers a breathtaking retreat amidst the beauty of nature, it's important to note the inherent dangers of our unique landscape. Perched on a cliff 60 feet above the creek, our property boasts stunning views and serene surroundings—but it also requires vigilance and care. The terrain here is steep and unforgiving, reminding us to slow down and savor each moment mindfully. (Please, remain on trails at all times.) With every step, it's crucial to remain fully present, ensuring proper footing and safe navigation at all times. As you explore the wonders of Sacred Springs, let this be an opportunity to hone your senses and cultivate a deeper connection with the earth beneath your feet. Embrace the challenge of traversing the rugged terrain, knowing that every cautious step brings you closer to the heart of this sacred sanctuary. This land holds the echoes of a prehistoric ancient community that thrived right here, utilizing irrigation for farming and dwelling in cliffside abodes. Picture yourself immersed in the rich history of the Verde valley, sitting in a cave dwelling pondering about the daily lives of the Hisat'sinom, the ancient cliff dwellers. You'll have the opportunity to reconnect with yourself, and to heal. Relax fully immersed in a natural riparian corridor as you hike along the creek, find your peace in one of our hammock swings next to the creek, or witness the breathtaking sunrise and sunset, from the best seat in Arizona. —With mindfulness and respect for the land, may your visit be one of discovery, growth, and profound reverence for the natural world. Sedona Views/Pool/FLO The Spartan!

1 site · Lodging4 acres · Lake Montezuma, AZ
Glamping in a true vintage gem you will feel miles away up on Guardian Ridge and FLO! Only 1.7 miles off I-17 you will begin to be drawn into the ancient callings of the Sinagua as soon as you enter the riparian area of Beaver Creek. Culpepper Ranch Rd is the old, dirt ranch rd that follows along the creek bed. A 2WD is fine, a SUV or truck great, just drive slowly and take in the views. The Sinagua's cliff dwellings line the cliffs all along the road to FLO and the Sycamores and Cottonwoods are Spectacular! The views are breathtaking with the Sedona Red Rocks to the north and the Montezuma Castle National Monument canyon to the south. FLO is a fully self-contained, refurbished 1950 Spartan Mansion Silver Bullet. Her charm includes an original turquoise shower/bathroom, full bed, a sweet kitchen and quaint living area. All of the paneling is original bent birch wood. She feels like “a big hug” when you lay in her beautifully-curved bedroom. Total privacy, with your own patio and barbecue, fire pit, solar-powered outdoor shower; one in FLO also. A 16' x 4' salt water above ground seasonal pool, May-October. FLO is strategically located as base camp (only 1.7 miles off I-17) for visiting Jerome, Prescott, Village of Oak Creek, Sedona, Flagstaff or The Grand Canyon. Drive down south to the warmth or up north to the cool. FLO's a great jumping off spot! Not to mention all the great hiking opportunities right here in the Verde Valley. Four perennial creeks all flow into the Verde River, all with wonderful hiking opportunities — Wet Beaver Creek, Clear Creek, Fossil Creek and Oak Creek. The gardens and trees have grown over the years since I first planted them and you never know what will be in-season and blooming! Gardening is my passion and I have thrived here for many years loving on this piece of land. Oh ya, your pets free and welcome! So come on up if you're so inclined — and have a little kick back in Rimrock, Arizona!

Sun & Moon Geo Dome Retreat

2 sites · Lodging2 acres · Dewey, AZ
It seems like nearly everyone who comes here says this is a peaceful place!  It's like being out in the country whilst still being close enough to so many things, halfway between Sedona and Prescott, in a neighborhood with dirt roads and farm animals in which horses have the right away. The mountains are hypnotic. The air is clean. The stars are breathtaking. You can see the Milky Way on a clear night. The sunsets and sunrises are gorgeous and we see a lot of double rainbows here. The dome is fully furnished for 4 people. Inside there's a queen bed, futon, clean linens, table w/chairs, portable a/c, electric heater; propane heater, lamps, microwave (for indoor cooking), ice maker, Keurig coffee maker, mini-fridge, USB & outlets for small devices (light electrical usage only), and WIFI is available. Plus a yoga mat, books, & a binder with food and sightseeing recommendations for the area. Outside there's a picnic table, propane grill with side burner, propane firepit with comfortable seating surrounding. The clear dome windows are showing signs of aging, so the best star and sunset/sunrise viewing is outside. The outhouse building is equipped with a camping toilet, pump sink, and a camping shower (now heated!). One towel per guest, grill utensils, cups, and plate ware provided. Bring disposables if you do not want to wash your own dishes. Most of the time guests are able to park next to the dome but sometimes, weather depending, it will be necessary to park and walk in about a hundred feet away from the dome. Also on the property you'll find a walking path carved out through the trees behind the dome with a medicine wheel and labyrinth. The property is located in a rural neighborhood so there are other houses around, but at a far distance, with still plenty of privacy.  There are lots of animals like cardinals, hawks, owls, blue jays, roadrunners, hummingbirds, jackrabbits, cottontails, coyotes, and mule deer.  Farm animals like donkeys make sounds in the distance which is pretty comical at times. There are occasional sightings of beer, wolves, and mountain lions. The location is central to so many incredible places to explore. Within an hour each direction, there is distinctly different natural terrain to discover. Our local Mortimer Farm is 7 miles away and has a bakery (breakfast/sandwiches/treats), seasonal activities including pick your own food, farm dancing, and monthly farm to table dinners. We also have a local winery, golf course, café, pizzeria, subway and BBQ restaurant.  Here are some of the sight seeing possibilities you could use this location to launch from, just to get your mind percolating: Grand Canyon (2.5 hours)Devil’s Bridge (Sedona) Cathedral rock (Sedona) Bell Rock (Sedona) Oak Creek Canyon (Sedona) Bumblebee Giant Saguaros (North Phoenix) Watson’s Lake (Prescott) Granite Dels (Prescott) Ghost Town Tour (Jerome) Lowell Observatory (Flagstaff) Wupatki National Monument (Flagstaff) Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument (Flagstaff) Arizona Snowbowl (Flagstaff) Antelope Canyon (Page) Lake Powell (Page) Horseshoe Bend (Page) Petrified Forest National Park (2.75 hours) Meteor Crater National Landmark (2 hours) Walnut Canyon National Monument (Flagstaff) Montezuma Castle National Monument and Well (Camp Verde) Out of Africa Wildlife Park (Camp Verde) Desert Botanical Gardens (Phoenix) Wine Tasting (Page Springs) It's my intention that anyone who stays here, leaves more nourished in spirit, more firmly planted in their true selves and more deeply in alignment with nature's rhythm. Looking forward to your visit!
