Weekend Trip to Iron Quail Ranch

Michael’s land was beautiful, peaceful, and felt very comfortable and safe for a solo female traveler. The bathroom and shower area was clean and cute and very well done. You can tell Michael and his family put care into everything they do on their property. The stargazing was amazing and the location was great for everything Tucson has to offer. Would recommend!!

Claire’s land is next level. Walking trails, shaded areas, outdoor bathroom with shower, flushing toilet and sink. What more coul you ask for. The setting is peaceful and tranquil. The hens and goats add an engaging element to our stay that was majestic. This is a 5.5 out of 5 hipcamp. And Claire is an caring host who goes out of her way to accomodate. Thoroughly loved every moment Of our hipcamp.

Such a wonderful, peaceful place. Very safe, a few minutes from the park, easy to find, good service with T-Mobile. I enjoyed seeing the goats and chickens. I wish I could have stayed longer.

Claire was very welcoming and everything was great. It was super nice to have water and a grill right there. Best bathroom and shower I’ve seen at a campsite. I highly recommend this place.

The location was unbeatable and the hospitality was fantastic. Michael was super welcoming. The bathroom was maybe cleaner than my own. We ate his eggs our whole trip and they were delicious.

This is one of the cutest trailer parks I have been too. Think 70s vintage inspired . They have free range chickens so you can eat all the eggs you would like . They also have a vintage kitchen to cook in. Along with a large outdoor eating area. 730 am coffee was a great way to start the day. They also offer free laundry and ice . Our daughter lives in town and we will be back!!

What a fun spot in Tucson! Site was great and we loved the clubhouse/patio area with vintage items all around. The pool was cool and welcoming - as were the hosts, Toni and Karl. Movies after dark and coffee in the morning and music playing in the clubhouse! It was relaxing - a great place to come back to after a day of exploring.

Claire is a wonderful host. Her 4 acre ranch of goats, chickens, tortise is a special slice of heaven. Oh, did I mention the best outdoor shower anywhere? You will love it!

Iron Quail is amazing. I can't say enough nice things. The hosts are super attentive and accessible. The sites are impeccable. The views spectacular, you're surrounded by breathtaking views 360⁰. The sunsets!!!!! The bathhouse is clean. Opt to have a mesquite pancake bfast. You won't be disappointed. Don't be concerned if you book the Kitt site and the proximity to the goats. They do not make a peep through the night.

1 night at Camp Saguaro

I was a last minute camper looking for a spot near the Saguaro National Park and was welcomed to Michele's campground. Straight forward directions led me to the grounds and my site at Javelina Hollow. I had plenty of room to pitch my tent by the big saguaros in the sunset and found the grounds subtly lit with colored solar lamps. I had a nice peaceful evening under the stars. Coyotes howled and owls hooted. In the lovely morning I was woken by a dawn chorus of quail and other birds, made my coffee and walked the premises discovering all of the super cool, creative art features that helped separate campsites and are placed about. The two flush toilets and two showers with running warm water, wow, what a treat! I loved the little Mercantile and super special, funky (but well designed) adobe and other structures on site. What an absolute treat!

I booked this day last minute. Just needing one overnight, but I wish I had the time to stay longer! This place is very special. Everything is meticulous, from the laundry area to the bathrooms, well marked paths and really all the grounds. You can see, the owners put their heart and soul into this with all the little extra touches everywhere.

It’s a beautifully designed campground with artistic touches throughout. Each space has its own name and character, as well as privacy. The bathroom with on demand hot water showers is one of the best I’ve seen. Kim and Michelle have poured their heart and soul into Camp Saguaro.

Wonderful place! I absolutely enjoyed my stay there- Toni and Karl were so welcoming and friendly. El Pais is so unique- it's like Palm Springs meets Meow Wolf- the creativity and artistic expression is fantastic. The free hot coffee mornings in the outdoor lounge/patio is so nice, and eggs are stocked in the vintage fridge. The free laundry is a huge plus. And as funky as it is- it is still totally professionally maintained, clean and orderly. Highly, highly recommended!

This was definitely one of our favorite Hipcamp stays! Not only is the location incredibly close to Saguaro NP (west side), but the little details and amenities made this a very enjoyable family camping experience. We didn't have our camp chairs on this trip, so the common area was perfect for breakfast and dinner. The bathrooms and showers were very clean and comfortable. The charging station was a nice extra luxury, too. And our kids found a new favorite game with the tetherball area. If we're ever back in the area, we will definitely stay again!

Such a beautiful park with large peaceful sites. Everyone was very helpful. It was so close to Sonora national park The attention to detail was amazing from beautiful cactus to site decor to hot showers! Would highly recommend this park!!

When my husband and I were dating in NY we confessed our mutual desire to get back "home" to the west. It made me fall in love with him even faster. So when we married we moved to Washington DC knowing that in time we would make it west. 5 years later, when the traffic and the politics has taken its toll, we made a trip to Tucson and fell in love with this charming property that exudes all the beauty and grace of the Sonoran Desert. We looked at each other as we walked around looking at the stunning Mtn. Views and the mesquite fence and knew we were finally "home." I've always adored the SW Hummingbirds and wanted to name the property La Hacienda Chuparosa. When we moved in, for the first week, every morning a hummingbird was sipping nectar from one of our plants in the front yard. We knew it was meant to be. So we added a couple of horses to our dream, built some stalls, and now are ready to welcome you to La Hacienda Chuparosa. We know you will find the same magic here that we do.

Camp Saguaro is nestled in a unique and rural area on the west side of Tucson, Arizona. With the Saguaro National Park Visitor Center, Tucson Mountain Park, and Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum all within four miles, there is plenty of opportunity to explore the outdoors. Tucson Mountain Park and Saguaro National Park boast hundreds of miles of hiking trails, and non-motorized mountain bikes are permitted on the trails in Tucson Mountain Park. Let us be your base camp for desert exploration whether it's hiking, riding, birdwatching, and learning. Come to Camp Saguaro and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the desert. Our friendly hosts can help you plan a great day, some of them even have their Certified Tourism Amabssador credentials. Please note: We are tobacco-free, medicinal herbs are legal and ok as long as children are not around. What to expect: We are in a rural neighborhood where most parcels are 1-3 acres, we have seven acres. It's quiet around here but along with the natural sounds of the desert like yipping coyotes, and woodpeckers pecking, you may hear a horse, dog, or chicken. While we are on the outskirts of Tucson, we are not completely remote. We have carved our sites out of the natural layout of the desert. There are many kinds of cactus in our area in addition to the magnificent Saguaro, and uneven areas when walking. We keep it as natural as possible. We have a small "Mercantile" on property. This is our office, but we also have items you may have forgotten, and souvenirs made by local artists. Also available is firewood, and ice is for sale for your convenience. We have a small Laundry Shack (two washers, two dryers) 2.00 wash/2.00 dry. You'll need cash for these things, we do not take any other form of payment at this time. Camp Saguaro is tobacco-free.
