If you think southern Arizona is nothing but parched desert, think again.

Sunset from a higher spot.. so many wild flowers at the end of summer. Monsoon storms hit this part of the mountain hard, so put you tent on high ground and be prepared to wait it out. The clouds also envelope the whole mountain, leaving you in thick fog.

Each spot has a large stone fire pit. These are built and maintained by campers. There is no use fee, so as always, super important to pack out everything you bring in, and keep it beautiful for all of us.

When my husband and I were dating in NY we confessed our mutual desire to get back "home" to the west. It made me fall in love with him even faster. So when we married we moved to Washington DC knowing that in time we would make it west. 5 years later, when the traffic and the politics has taken its toll, we made a trip to Tucson and fell in love with this charming property that exudes all the beauty and grace of the Sonoran Desert. We looked at each other as we walked around looking at the stunning Mtn. Views and the mesquite fence and knew we were finally "home."
I've always adored the SW Hummingbirds and wanted to name the property La Hacienda Chuparosa.  When we moved in, for the first week, every morning a hummingbird was sipping nectar from one of our plants in the front yard. We knew it was meant to be. 
So we added a couple of horses to our dream, built some stalls, and now are ready to welcome you to La Hacienda Chuparosa. We know you will find the same magic here that we do.

just a quick walk to the San Pedro River or a short drive to Tombstone and Bisbee.Learn more about this land:&nbsp; Pitch your tent on four primitive acres and enjoy&nbsp;plenty of walking trails and enjoy a fire on our cool desert evenings.&nbsp; Each site can accommodate 2 vehicles and 2 large tents.&nbsp;&nbsp;The sites are surrounded by Mesquite trees (be mindful of the thorns). It's a short walk to the main house, where you will pass a herd of Alpacas to get water from our well. &nbsp; Book a farm tour and learn all about the animals and why we raise them.&nbsp; We love to share our love of Alpacas with everyone.&nbsp;&nbsp;You can even take some Alpaca fiber&nbsp;with you by visiting our farm store.&nbsp;

3:10 to Dragoon

Dragoon is rich in history and natural beauty. The name comes from the 3rd U.S. Calvary Dragoons who battled the Chiricahua Apaches here led by Chief Cochise during the Apache Wars. Nearby, you can visit the confederate graves and ruins of the Dragoon Springs Stage Station. About 20 minutes away is Cochise Stronghold, home and burial place of Chief Cochise and Chiricahua Nat'l Monument is about an hour away (great hiking and climbing!). Unique to this area are the amazing rock formations of pillars, balances, and stacked rocks caused by cooled volcanic granite 50 million years ago.&nbsp; In addition, our area is home to hundreds of different bird species, the occasional Gila monster, coyotes, deer, and javalina.
