The Copper Cabin was a fun little fall getaway! Linda was wonderful to communicate with and responded very quickly to all of my questions. She also provided so much helpful information before our stay, which made everything easy and stress-free.
The walk to the cabin was easy and quick, and the leaves were absolutely gorgeous along the way. We loved the cute new bridge you cross on the way to the cabin! We especially enjoyed the sauna on a rainy evening. It was perfect! There is a small spot along the river where you can sit and enjoy the peaceful sounds of the birds and other wildlife.
The solar power was great! I was able to have the lights on at night while I read my book. There was also plenty of firewood, which I really appreciated since it got pretty chilly at night. The stars were spectacular, and we enjoyed exploring around the cabin and finding some beautiful old trees. I had absolutely no cell service at the cabin. That was actually a plus for me because I really enjoyed being disconnected from the world.
There are a few things future guests should be aware of. The refrigerator had a very strong odor, which made me hesitant to store or eat food from it. The water filtration canister also takes quite a while to fill, and the water had a slight yellow tint with some visible specks. We were glad we brought extra drinking water with us.
I have stayed at many rustic and off-grid cabins, so I understand that this type of stay comes with some unique challenges. That said, this cabin is truly very rustic, and cleanliness was a concern during our stay. We noticed what appeared to be mouse droppings and urine on various surfaces, including the counters, books, floors, cups, bedding, and in the bathroom. A little extra attention to cleaning and pest control would make a big difference and would help guests feel more comfortable.
Overall, we enjoyed the peaceful setting, sauna, beautiful fall scenery, and cozy atmosphere. Thank you, Linda & Darryl for letting us stay at your little cabin!
