The Point is located in Gouldsboro, in Downeast Maine on the Schoodic Peninsula near the Schoodic portion of Acadia National Park on occupied Wabanaki land. The point is our home, offered to guests as a place for seekers of peace and solace to gain a better relationship and appreciation with nature in a world that has forgotten the importance and connection we all have with the planet that sustains us. A priority here for me is keeping this land pristine and respected. Our mission to save and protect our natural environment and keep it natural and wild can only be accomplished with the active mindfulness of you. We aim to prove that hipcamp can be a magical experience for private landowners and campers alike, to provide a means of temporal community and beneficial alternative to traditional campgrounds; one that does not degrade the environment and break the peace that small towns still contain. Please be mindful of the trash you generate and mindful of the noise you are making— we aim to provide seekers of peace a *quiet* time in nature. Together we are here to be an example to others of what mindful camping can look like in this changing world. Acadia Wagon Cabin by Beach

Make yr camp ‘home’ in a rustic tiny cabin in quiet woods, in a meadow of sweet and sensitive fern, a walk away from the ocean, just peeking through the trees. Wagon is 'off-grid' and unplugged, it is simply just a cozy structure for protection from the elements; pls enjoy plugging into nature, without the hassle of pitching a tent. 15 min from schoodic and 45 from Acadia on mount desert island, though you could spend your whole time here on the property and be perfectly content. There’s a swimmable sand beach (for the brave) on which our drastic tides go in and out, transforming the landscape. From the beach, there’s great sunset, views, stargazing, and a beautiful scenic 180 degree Vista of the surrounding mountains, hills and islands. Location: Property has no immediate neighbors around and is surrounded by woods; forest & walkable beach. There is one other cabin and one tent site here. There are trails to hike on site and kayaks available upon request. Cabin: tiny with a double loft bed, is RUSTIC, hand built with love. All the windows are on hinges, prop them open for ample fresh air. ABOUT THE SPACE: Bed: has a small futon-sized double/full 50x70 mattress w cover. The bed is cozy, lofted. Pls plan to bring yr own sleeping bags/bedding but we will provide so if need be. Bed/bedding: Guests are requested to BYO bedding as a courtesy to Mother Earth, we encourage guests to bring their own camping bedding, pillows/bags—linen rental (pillows/cotton sheets/blankets/comforter) and towels (during summer months) are available for a $20 fee—48 hours prior to arrival. If you have prepaid for linens they’ll be waiting for you a.) on weekends on site in the cabin day of or b.) on weekdays in a basket on our covered porch nearby outside our home (when our schedules prohibit us from getting over to the cabin between the last guest check out and your check in). Contents: 2 chairs and picnic table with umbrella, cabin with double loft bed, games/books in case of rainy day or restless mind, grate for cooking over fire, screen tent, one small cast iron skillet, lantern/electric/wax candle tea lights are provided. Fall/winter: there’s an indoor/outdoor buddy 4000/9000 BTU propane heater inside the wagon cabin. If you wish to run the heater, please bring your own propane. It takes the green 1 lb canisters of propane. Heater will take the chill off if run for any duration of time but pack accordingly with appropriate clothing & graded bags for night time temps, cabin is uninsulated. good for running before bed and in the early morning. Please do not leave the heater running when you’re not at the site. If you wish to camp during WINTER months your vehicles must have AWD and/or good winter/snow tires. The road to our property is a hilly dirt road; with any snow or ice on the road or in the forecast AWD is required. Please bring your own mess kits, cooking utensils and camp stove if you do not wish to cook over open fire. Cabin has minimal solar lights on exterior for safety and minimal electric tea lights inside. It gets dark here during a new moon especially, please bring a lantern/headlamp/flashlight and a sense of adventure. Wood: We have firewood available for purchase self help self carry honor system—if you’ve reserved bundles through add-ons in your booking it means we will have firewood for you reserved. If you’ve prepaid for multiple double bundles we’ll try to deliver them or ensure they are waiting for you at your site. Please pay with hipcamp add-one, or onsite cash box, Electronically, or feel free to bring your own wood (purchased locally only! Due to the nature of firewood which can transport far-way insects that will be a threat to the health of our forest. Fun fact! southern maine is a quarantine zone for the emerald ash borer beetle.) Location: Located in Gouldsboro, Maine. This is our home and true happy place, and land we are stewarding, we are 30 min from the town of Ellsworth and 10 min to Winter Harbor. 15 min to the schoodic peninsula of acadia national park and 50 min to the main park/bar harbor. There is strong cell service on all major carriers on site if need be. The cabin has no electricity, wifi or running water. MISSION: We aim to provide a place for quiet time in nature for seekers of peace to gain a better relationship and appreciation with nature in a world that has forgotten the importance and connection we all have with Mother Earth & the planet that sustains us whilst not breaking the peace our small town still contains. Make your home for the night in the woods a short walk from the ocean with a swimmable sand beach, at the end of a private drive. Passing the through the gate down to the Point, we hope you will feel a sense of peace, joy & tranquility. During clear skies we have fantastic stargazing and sunsets from beach and views of the surrounding mountains and islands.  The property and campsite is off Frenchman's Bay and walkable to well maintained hiking trails. At night you will hear the loons, seals in bay, treefrogs, distant coyote howls and owls hooting. 15 minutes from the Schoodic Peninsula of Acadia. 45 minutes from Mount Desert Island. For amazing views walk through the woods down to the beach or admire the variety of woodland diversity and tree species.  We can provide guests with a 2-5 gallon dispenser of well water for drinking/washing upon req. Site is in woods of your choosing on our land, rustic backwoods wilderness rustic camping. You’ll be able to pull your vehicle right in and car camp, or pitch in the woods. Adults only at this site. Returning guest? Msg us for a discount code prior to booking. You may have a fire here in the firepit. We have wood available onsite. If you wish to cook over open fire, there is a heavy duty swing away grate to cook on the fire. Site features a large picnic table, bench/2 chairs for sitting around the fire and (very dim, in dappled shade woods) a solar lanterns, a shovel and bucket for fire safety. Here you can walk directly to the beach (1-2 min walk) to watch the sunset. We also have kayaks available. This is the only site in which you can arrive after dusk without any confusion and orienting yourself to the property! The site is best suited to two guests, larger parties we instead recommend the site “starry night farmhouse woods.” Pls note this is not our most private tent/rv site. If you require total privacy pls look at our other sites. Here the picnic table and fire pit area is visible from our private road, on which seldom passerbys are us and our guests only. We have a dumpster here for your utilization (please no meat or seafood waste, we do take compost separately!) however we request guests practice mindful consumption prior to your time here in order to plan to minimize waste. Our priority is to keep the land here pristine and respected. Our mission to utilize and experience but save and protect the environment can only be accomplished with the active mindfulness of YOU! We are here to prove & provide an extremely magical alternative to the business and chaos of traditional large KOA&RV campgrounds, that does not degrade the environment or break the peace that our small town still contains. As a courtesy to Mother Earth and fellow campers, leave the land you visit better than you found it& do not burn any trash other than paper products. Potty is a short walk away. Limit of two dogs per party. Dogs must be on leash or voice command. Please leash dogs when/if coming for a meet and greet to my home as we do have our own outdoor furry friends. Please keep your speed down while driving on our quiet neighborhood roads. Welcome to the farmhouse. Totally private site. Private beach. Kid/family/bigger group friendly site. Located 15 min to acadia on schoodic and 45 min to acadia on Mount Desert island. Make your home for the night near the ocean & settle into a peaceful quiet piece of the earth. Enjoy a fire on the beach in the evening, and take in the vastness of the stars and the slowing of time. Site is tucked in the woods overlooking Frenchman’s Bay at the end of a private drive. Secluded and private from all surrounding dwellings and neighbors and people, but you may see us when passing by our home-- by day go exploring the Schoodic Pensinsula, at night hear the loons, seals in bay, treefrogs, distant coyote howls and owls hooting. During the day you are a short walk from the trails next door.  *Please read through our description before booking * - please note we prefer a two night minimum to book. Returning hipcampers from last summer, message us first before booking for a discount code :)   If you wish to camp during WINTER months your vehicles must have AWD and/or good winter/snow tires. The road to our property is a hilly dirt road; with any snow or ice on the road or in the forecast AWD is required. Campsite: in the *feild/lawn/woods* on the property of your choosing around a quiet old unoccupied farmhouse off a private swimmable stretch of beach and adjacent to trails on a nature preserve. This is our only mowed grass site. You may not camp on the beach. Fires: There is a firepit at the site by the picnic table. You may alternatively have a small campfire on the beach in the designated pit area. Or use your campstove or portable pit at your site up the hill. Site has picnic table up the hill. We have wood available to purchase onsite for a fee or bring your own wood purchased locally. Please dowse your fire with seawater with the bucket provided before settling in for the night. Beach: The beautiful bay is now ripe for swimming even the wussiest wimpiest of cold water swimmers here between August and September. This is the only place we like to swim on the property, not too rocky or seaweedy. Privacy: You'll be well out of ear/eyeshot from other sites and from my home. There is a shared potty a short walk away. Our goal with Hipcamp is to provide a place for seekers of peace to gain a better relationship and appreciation with nature in a world that has forgotten the importance and connection we all have with the planet that sustains us.  Our top priorities with our Hip Camp is keeping this land pristine and respected. All our other sites are Adult only. We think kids absolutely should go camping, but we try to situate them farther from other quiet sites that are adults only for breathing room. Any class b camper van/trailers/rig please disclose this with host in booking req; pls specify your type of vehicle camper upon booking if you are not tent camping. We cannot post any class C or very large, tall rigs at this site, the branches along the driveway are cleared to approx 12 ft, camp trailers are OK. We can accommodate you if you communicate to us your size first. We can accommodate two vehicles at this site but this must be reflected in the booking for insurance purposes. Please be experienced with how to maneuver your rig / set up! Kids over 3 count as an additional guest. Unless you are completely self contained--if they use the potty, they leave a trace. Located ~30 minutes from Ellsworth, 15 minutes from Winter Harbor, 15 min from the Schoodic Peninsula of Acadia National Park, and 45 minutes from Acadia on Mount Desert Island/Bar Harbor. Make your home in a rustic cabin in the quiet Maine woods, steps away from the ocean overlooking mountains. Watch the sunset while cooking a meal. Disconnect and relax, take in the vastness of the stars, slowing of time here, and ample peacefulness. Please read through site description, before req to book or asking q’s - as booking this site req reading to best prepare you for a GREAT trip. Pls note this in your msg / req to book for one night and we’ll lift restrictions on the site if it’s a good fit. Rustic cabin steps off a beach in a calm bay, adjacent to several miles of hiking trails and walkable beach. From site are views of the surrounding mountains and islands. Site is facing west for sunset views. Booking this site provides you the ability to have a fire safely on the beach, or cook with the campstove/woodstove provided. Sunsets on a clear day are spectacular. A-frame is 'off-grid' (no real heat, no electricity or wifi) and unplugged, it is simply just a structure; pls enjoy plugging into nature.  We are located 15 minutes away from the quiet lesser trafficked Schoodic Peninsula part of Acadia Nat'l Park, an hour from the main large majority of Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island. Please make time to slow down and enjoy the cabin, instead of simply using it as a launching off point for Acadia primarily. ABOUT THE SPACE: - outdoor woodstove & two burner Coleman camp stove, cast iron skillets (2) and open fire waffle iron are provided, pls 1lb propane canisters if you wish to use the stove provided, yr own dishware, cookware/mess kits, & utensils - pls store food items inside cooler and not inside cabin. - WATER: during summer months guests BYO water; there is no accessible spigot or hose at cabin. We have a shallow water table, well, low water gardens and periods of drought. Off season: We are happy to refill gallon jugs for drinking & lend a 1-5 gallon dispenser of our well water for drinking/washing for extended bookings, if we’re home during meet & greets or just ask. Contents: double bed, 2 burner coleman propane stove, lil buddy heater (please supply your own 1lb canister of propane, 2 cast iron skillets, binoculars, grate for cooking over campfire, broom and dustpan, books/games, table top/saw horses. Bed/bedding: Guests are requested to bring their own bedding/sleeping bags as a courtesy to Mother Earth, and our time: although linen rental is $20 (incl pillows/cotton sheets/blankets/comforter/towels of appropriate warmth based on season) are available added on at the time of booking, or requested after booking and paid upon arrival—must be arranged & paid in advance 24-48 hours prior to arrival. If you have prepaid for linens they’ll be waiting for you a.) either on site in the cabin day of booking, or b.) in a basket on our covered porch just outside our home (if time does not allow us to get in to the cabin between bookings due to our work schedule). Lighting: A-frame has minimal solar lights on exterior patio, (which can be turned off at panel for ample star viewing) battery powered and electronic tealights for interior of cabin. It does get very dark here! Especially during the new moon. Please BYO headlamp/flashlight/lanterns and a sense of adventure. CHECK IN: no nighttime arrivals. Pls make every best attempt to check in before sun is setting &plan to ensure to check-in before nightfall to avoid any confusion with finding and orienting yourself to the property and site. Take reviews with a grain of salt and read this to plan prep pack fully, your time here is what you make of it. Cabin is rustic, not hermetically sealed and doesn’t get a white glove cleaning btwn each booking, no cleaning fee is tacked on; guests are responsible for tidying site for the next guests. Meaning we are not always home for meet and greets and to check cabin between bookings. We aim to set clear expectations for guests. despite our best continual attempts to seal up the cabin there may be woodland creatures or traces of themespecially if you or the previous guest have eaten or stored food inside. Don’t eat or store food inside please + thank you. Winter/Fall: Trusty rusty teeny tiny outdoor woodstove on deck for cooking, gives ambient heat for warming appendages. Indoor/outdoor buddy 4000/9000 BTU propane heater will take the chill off inside if run for any duration of time and but pack accordingly with appropriate clothing & graded bags for night time dep on season, cabin is uninsulated. For propane heater: during winter months we provide the tank for warming up. During fall/spring please bring your own propane if you wish to run the heater. The heater takes 1 lb canisters and has an adapter for a larger tank. good for running before bed and in the early morning. Please do not leave the heater running when you’re not at the site. Cabin has ample venting, screens & a smoke/CO detector and fire extinguisher. Look up local weather leading up to your stay and prepare & pack accordingly for possible rain (ez up canopy/tarps). If you reserve linens you will have bed made with pillows, (& down comforter and wool blankets in spring/fall). For those that byobedding—Extra bedding/bags are inside square storage ottoman pouf during colder months, please leave it out or let us know if you use it so we can launder it. Wood: we usually have wood available for purchase, or bring your own camp wood purchased **locally** found at most supermarkets, gas stations and roadside. Lots of our neighbors sell wood, please patronize their small side hustles! If you have pre-paid at the time of booking, it means we will ensure we have enough cut split and stacked for you, self help self carry honor system by our wood pile near the parking area. Please utilize the milk crates to carry and pay electronically or with cash. Cooking meals: cook on the woodstove cooktop, over open campfire or on Coleman stove. Please bring your own utensils, dishware and mess kits.  Location: Property has no immediate neighbors around but is surrounded by 65 acres of public preserve land with trails through woodlands; magical forest & walkable beach. Feels at most times like a private beach but site is not fully private. there is another cabin and a campsite nearby. A-frame is away from the crowds of the park and just far enough off Route 1 that the noise of engines is barely audible. There are two other tent sites, one other cabin and our home here, spaced adequately apart. In summer months lobster boats will hum about the bay extracting their bounty from the sea. We urge & encourage guests to fully maximize relaxing and spend a full day here on the property and in the area, rather than just using the site as a launching off pad for traversing the main part of acadia on Mount Desert island. For this reason we do not accept one and two night bookings, to reduce rapid turnover of guests. Privacy: during the day you might encounter the seldom friendly hiker or another one of our guests on the beach and trails on the neighboring preserve. There is a curtain in the cabin for privacy. More prevalent than hikers are deer, bald eagle, sea birds, wild turkey, chipmunks, red squirrel and the occasional porcupine. In the water are small seal, loons, porpoise (dolphins), duck, heron.  Cabin: is V RUSTIC, from 70's;; cabin is hot/cold proportionally to outdoor temps. The window is dirty between the panes but it’s also arched and uniquely beautiful. You are camping. There are bugs. You’re in the woods. Maine has mosquitos, no-seeums, black flies, ticks, horseflies and fireants in the summer months and I can't control this. Pack good bug dope, smoke em out! If you are looking for a high amenity glamping experience with electricity and showers, check out Under Canvas in Surry & Terramor in Bar Harbor. Closest campgrounds if we are booked: Acadia East, Acadia Seashore, West Bay, Mainayr. ABOUT US: I love being able to share our property meeting travelers from all walks of life! My background is in culinary/hospitality. My live-in partner Daniel is a carpenter and former fisherman from Chicagoland. Pls keep in mind we are not a traditional campground, home is right here where we live work and play. That means you may occasionally see us, or hear us wrenching on one of our vehicles or swinging a hammer. We are not like a traditional campground and do not intend to become one; we aim for a bit *more* privacy between sites for guests’ peace and quiet; to provide a rustic, simple, barebones & most importantly quiet peace and solace in a beautiful place immersed in nature. We love hosting, making new friends, welcoming people to the property, and are happy to answer any questions about the area prior to your trip-- we provide campers with a Gdoc local's guide to The Point, the area & Acadia. MISSION Statement: We aim to provide a place for seekers of peace to gain a better relationship and appreciation with nature in a world that has forgotten the importance and connection we all have with Mother Earth & the planet that sustains us. With the benefit of on-site hosts, anything you may have forgotten we will likely have on hand to lend. Just ask. About you: able to read site listing and directions, some experience camping, general common sense. We also req that you are experienced campers with fire building and fire safety exp. Pets: We allow well behaved quiet dogs only all must be on-leash or *strict* voice command and watchful eye as we have outdoor pets near the main house. Dogs must remain at your site/side and are not allowed to roam free on the property limit of one dog to this site unless otherwise disclosed & agreed upon. Guests are responsible for leaving the site as they found it. In an attempt to keep the cabin clean we request that you slip off or wipe off your shoes whenever possible inside a-frame esp during any period of rain/mud. Guests who track in mud debris or leave any trash will be charged a clean-up fee. The rug is very large, heavy and takes hours to wash and daaaays to dry. “Host" and "Maid" are not synonymous terms. If you create mess, you clean up mess. We do not charge a cleaning fee because we cannot clean the cabin between bookings & bc it seems unnecessary and unkind. Instead we ask you leave the cabin tidy for the next guest. We do offer trash receptacles. Pls take your trash with you and put it in our trash receptacle. Do your part to leave the cabin as clean as you found it. If you break/damage/spill something please let us know as soon as possible. I won’t put you in the time out corner, I promise. In conclusion don’t be a jerk and we will love you! This site is best suited for 2 adults; in an effort to have minimal ecological effects on the land and keep the peace&quiet, if you have a bigger group you must book an additional site. In an effort to keep peace most all Of our sites are not suitable for children or infants; unless otherwise preagreed upon with host. Please note we have a three night minimum stay in the cabin unless two or one night only is available with a booking before and after, in which case send us an inquiry with a little bit about yourself for consideration. If your desired dates are booked you may message us to get on our waitlist for cancellations. We enjoyed the beach, and I would highly consider coming back at a warmer time. The campsite we stayed at wasn’t as big as it looked in photos, so there was some maneuvering near the old house to fit our two tiny trailers. It was an hour to the main Acadia entrance, but so beautiful out there. If camping in tick season, bring spray and check your dogs. We were covered. Beach was 100/10.

Lily’s A frame was absolutely perfect! She had it stocked with miscellaneous camping supplies which helped lighten the car load and short walk from the car to the A Frame. The sunset views were stunning, and sleeping to the sound of the waves was such a treat. An accommodating way to “camp” as the temps were getting cold!

This was the perfect campsite. Very private. Really nice octagonal picnic table and complete setting with comfortable Adirondack chairs at the fire pit. A very short walk to a gorgeous water view. Sunset was spectacular. Lily was very responsive and helpful.

An amazing place to camp to say the least. Stayed nearly 2 weeks. Serene, tranquil, woods, beach, silence, waves, private, beautiful, moonlit, alluring, sunsets, bay, seals, kayaks, unique, majestic and soulful. Would give this place 10 stars if I could. One of my favorite hip camps of all time, amazing host and soul in Lily! Will return.

Loved the seclusion of the site. Views are amazing and we got the best sunsets. Loved hiking around the preserve and down to Schoodic point. A frame is well equipped and quiet even with some windy nights. Bed was a bit small for me plus wife, but any larger would be tough to fit in the cabin I presume; would stay again!

We loved this place so much we booked 5 days originally only to extend and stay 14. Most definitely one of my favorite campsites ever. Woods, beach, calm, quiet, serenity, sunsets! private, harbors, trails, kayaks, Acadia! Really loved this place and the beauty it offers..other guests indicated they had returned 3 and 4 times already. Cannot say enough about Lily, just an amazing host and person who went way out of her way to navigate a few challenges (imposed by ourselves) during our stay. Quick to respond to all of it and had solutions all along the way. Would vote best host of any stay and cannot wait to return to this amazing property. An amazing variance of sunsets and the bay was completely still and other times crashing waves at the private beach. Would give it 10 stars if I could. Thanks Lily!

The a frame at The Point is magical. We just visited for our 5th year in a row. Stay a few nights. Be there for sunset every night. Enjoy the water as it comes up to your fire pit and enjoy walking along the beach as the tide goes out. Be prepared to see the stars like you never have before. We look forward to returning again.

This place is beautiful. I loved camping in the yard in from of the old cottage. The space is incredibly private and quiet. The fire ring down by the water is the icing on the cake. I would definitely stay here again.

A truly beautiful and totally private spot that we highly recommend. More than we are used to spending for a campsite but with your own beach with a 2nd firepit on it is pretty priceless. Do be cautious with dogs off leash as there is a young porcupine roaming the site currently. Fortunately, only three quills in the lips that we were able to pull ourselves and then kept a closer eye! Lily totally left us to ourselves but was quick to reply when needed.

We Loved this spot. So relaxing watching tides and daylight changing. Easy local hikes, bracing dips at high tide (mid September) and privacy as advertised. Generous of the hosts to share such a space. The other spots here look great too, but the point was just what we were looking for. Great offers of camping perks from the host as well. Highly recommend, again- Loved it!

This was such a an incredible Hip Camp experience for us! It was so quiet and peaceful in the forest canopy, but just a 150 yd walk to the bay. Lily was an awesome host! She gave us great tips on things to do and was super responsive whenever we reached out. The place was truly magical!

Super easy to find and park at this site, we arrived in the pitch black and found it with no problem. Also being right next to a very nice beach area was awesome. Listening to the coyotes, owls and other wildlife in the night was calming and for me it felt nostalgic.

What an incredible and special property!! I would highly recommend any nature lovers to stay here. You get a beautiful piece of coastline all to yourself. The tides are so fascinating and are quite dramatic, very cool to see the landscape change throughout the day. The fire pit by the beach area was a highlight. Lily was very accommodating and made an incredible lobster dinner!! I would absolutely stay here again.

This is one of my favorite places I’ve ever stayed. The setting was peaceful and beautiful and Lily is an amazing host with a deep connection to the land. Very private, very quiet, great place to explore Acadia and the surrounding area and would love to come back some day!

This was my favorite campsite I’ve ever been to! The A-frame is so magical! You just can’t beat the views of the bay and the sound of the tide while sleeping. There’s so much to explore around the site and also easy access to nearby trails and Acadia National Park. Lily was so communicative and helpful throughout our stay! We had everything we needed, firewood, kayaks, etc. There were even fresh flowers in the A-frame when we arrived, it was lovely. Everything was very nice and the onsite porta potty was clean and easily accessible. Very peaceful and quiet, would highly recommend! We loved swimming, kayaking, and watching the seals every morning.

If you’re thinking about booking this site, just do it. I can’t stress enough how gorgeous this slice of woods is!! The star gazing was incredible. Loons and eagles sang to us in the morning and evening. Seals hung out at an island on the bay. Wild flowers and quiet forest provided the perfect backdrop. And the seclusion is so worth the price. This might be the best campsite I’ve ever stayed at! Lily was responsive and a great host as well.

Small rustic, wooded, no frills RV site. Ocean is a short walk down hill from the RV site. Unless you want to be very close to fire ring there is really only one spot to park and you will need levelers. Picnic table and adirondack chairs were a nice plus. Short walk to clean porta potty. Lovely views and awesome sunsets from the beach. The RV site is in the woods with small glimmers of the ocean in the distance thru the trees but not really views. Overall a nice rustic site but personally thought a bit overpriced.
