Maria was a great host and we had a great time. They have everything you could need there and it’s great for kids too. Our kids loved the canoe and sand toys. They even brought us some homemade wine that was fantastic!

It’s perfect. Clear view for the sunset & sunrise. The teepee was unexpectedly comfortable, being able light up the fire pit in the inside was a 10. It was 45 degrees last night and we slept like new born babies. Trails cut out to enjoy the colors and the life that the their prairie brings to the land. Great hospitality, I even got the chance to enjoy the taste of delicious fruit and drinks produced from the land.. if this place don’t Bless your camping needs, you’re not a camper. If I keep giving details it might seem too good to be true, I advise you to check it out. Overall it was a pleaser to meet them and enjoy this wonderful idea for us to enjoy nature and the peace that comes with it.. We will be back for sure.

We had a great time. The hosts were friendly and shared some homemade wine and vegetables from their garden. The property was very well kept and all the amenities made it a very convenient and relaxing camp. Loved staying in the tipi and being able to take a hot outdoor shower. Can’t wait to come back.

Hello- We were so excited to come back to Walking Sticks as my wife and I were there in October 2021.
While corresponding with the owners we couldn’t wait to fish and kayak on their beautiful pond. We had some of the best fishing last time we stayed and enjoyed kayaking the pond.
When we arrived and we were walking the property with the owner they stated that they had a 100% fish kill last year. Upon hearing this my wife and I were very disappointed as we were there to fish per our correspondence.
The pond was so full of vegetation that we could not swim or kayak either. The pond was not accessible.
Prior to our weekend, the owners said they tried to get some vegetation out.
With this disappointment that the pond was actually not usable we decided to leave after having some hamburgers and went to Coralville and rented a hotel room for the weekend and fished several ponds in the area.
To sum up that weekend, we would have hoped that the owners would have mentioned the fish kill and the extreme vegetation that was pervasive throughout the pond before we booked and paid.
We would come back but not until the pond is accessible for use as it was in 2021. This might actually take a couple years.

Tipi Camp-Walking Stick Adventures
I've stayed at walking stick adventures multiple times. It's a private single camp site in a quite rural area. The hosts and campsite provide everything needed for a comfortable stay. Just bring your own bedding and food. Maria and ken are always pleasant and quickly reapond to anything that comes up. The pond and trails are enough to wear out the kids and dogs. This is my family's favorite place to camp.

We had such a beautifully relaxing stay—truly one of the best camping experiences we’ve had as a family. Our hosts have literally thought of everything to make it comfortable, peaceful, and easy to enjoy. It’s clear they care deeply about creating a welcoming space, and it shows in all the thoughtful details.
The site is super kid-friendly! Our daughter loved playing in the sand, swinging in the hammock, and just exploring the outdoors. We were able to slow down, be present, and really enjoy each other’s company.
The weather was perfect during our visit, and our dog had the time of her life swimming in the pond and canoeing right along with us. It was such a joy to watch her have fun too.
One of the sweetest touches was the hosts sharing some of their homemade wine—it was absolutely delicious and such a generous, personal gesture that made the experience feel even more special.
We left feeling refreshed, reconnected, and full of gratitude. Highly recommend for anyone looking to unplug and make meaningful memories in a truly thoughtful and peaceful setting

This was our second time visiting Tipi Camp-Walking Stick Adventures and it did not disappoint! Lots of things to do for the whole family, from the amazing treehouse that our big kids loved to canoeing or kayaking in the pond. We had everything we needed to make the camping experience a perfect one! I highly recommend this location if you’re looking for a memorable camping adventure.

Staying at Tipi-Camp Walking Adventures was an incredible experience! The hosts are kind and friendly, beginning with a tour of the property and amenities and ending with them sharing a delicious bottle of home-grown wine. The property is secluded and expansive, with a beautiful pond with kayaks and canoes available for use, and swimming. The teepee itself is huge, comfortably sleeping five people+. Everything is provided (with exception of food and bedding) so it made camping here easy and fun! We’re sure to be back!

My friends and I had a great time here! It was so peaceful and quiet and very secluded.
And the Homemade Wine made by Ken was delicious and a wonderful surprise! We loved meeting the farm cats who hung out with us all night and morning :-] we ended the night with a fire in the teepee which was so nice.
I would definitely stay here again! Thank you so much!

This is the second time we stayed and we love the peaceful private camp site.
Maria provides everthing from cooking utensils to fire wood and charcoal.
The only things we needed to bring were bedding( she can provide blow up air mattresses for a small fee, we brought our own) and food and drink.
The rustic setting and outdoor restroom and shower made you experience one on one with nature, without needing to pack and set up a ton of equipment.
We couldn't fish because a large storm blew through and upset the delicate balance in the lake, but there are definitely fish in there, some of them quite large!
We can't wait to go back next year and take the grandkids!

This was one of our favorite camping spots yet! The private camp, pond was perfect for swimming and boating, hosts had everything for us to cook, camp, and relax. Homemade wine from their farm was a sweet touch! The tipi was awesome- we even had a rainstorm and kids loved playing cards by camplight with the rain on the tipi outside. We will definitely be coming back!!

My family loved staying at Tipi camp-walking stick adventures. We loved the privacy because you have all the acres to yourself along with the pond. The kids particularly loved the kayaking and the house tree. Maria truly provided everything you’d need for the stay. The place was very clean, and Maria and her husband were very welcoming and polite. They even shared some of their home-made wine. We will definitely come back for a Girl Scouts trip.

Above and beyond what we expected. There is an immediate feeling of warmth and welcome upon arriving. The owners are incredibly friendly, helpful, and hospitable. It is beauty at every turn. The tipi was so comfortable and clean. The bathhouse was well crafted and we loved using it. The attention to detail on what is needed for a camping adventure is impeccable. Towels, all cooking supplies, firewood, drinking water, kayaks, beach toys, etc. etc. Awesome tree house and so many fish! We will be back! We will bring friends! Thank you thank you thank you for an unforgettable experience.

We had the most fantastic time and did not want to leave. This beautiful area was built with love and you feel it as soon as you arrive. Maria is the most wonderful host you could ask for. Fishing was the best we have ever experienced. Sleeping in a teepee with a fire is a whole new adventure. You have everything you need and you definitely need to call Maria. We are visitors for life.

This was an incredible experience. You would never know that you are just 5 miles from I-80. Maria and Jeff were great hosts! They had everything we needed. Our dogs loved swimming in the pond and walking around the property after a long day of driving. My daughter had a blast kayaking in the pond and fishing for the first time.They had wood for a campfire in the evening. Jeff met us with some of his homemade wine, which was delicious! We loved our time here and will definitely be back again!!!

This place is amazing!! The couple who own the place and their very old dog Samsonite are vey welcoming.
If you are looking for a good time away and you only have to being clothes and food this is the site for you. Tepee is amazing, wood is cut, towels provided for shower, and homemade wine!

Our trip was amazing! My two young boys loved kayaking, swimming, berry picking, and playing on the beach. Everything you could possibly want at a camp site is there and ready to use. Maria and Kent were wonderful, encouraging us to explore their property and even shared 2 bottles of delicous homemade wine. I highly recommend for families!

Beautiful land with everything you could possibly want! Our daughter loves paddling in the lake and playing on the beach. A real highlight was catching fireflies in the winding prairie paths at dusk.

In the days we live in now, the hype does not live up to expectations. NOT IN THIS CASE!! Maria and Kent were fabulous! The land they have set up is peaceful and picturesque. Our original plans were to visit Amana Colonies but we did not leave the property! The fishing was the best ever! Big Bass and Big Catfish! No fish tales here. The Bass and Catfish so big they pulled us around the pond in the canoe! We will definitely will be back!
