Former avid RVers, we missed the joy of “glamping” and community life on the road. When we found this property in Tyler, Texas, we knew it was the perfect place to bring that vision to life. What started as a dream has become a God-inspired project fueled by our love for people, adventure, and the beauty of East Texas.
Spread across 60 heavily treed acres, our property offers RV and tent camping, as well as two fully furnished cabins available for short- or mid-term rental (see photos and booking at heavenlyhavenandhideaways.com). Guests can gather around the large communal firepit, enjoy games like tetherball, volleyball, and horseshoes, or relax in the open field with a frisbee or a couple portable disc golf baskets. Trails wind throughout the property, including a small creek and endless opportunities to explore. The trailhead is located just south of Site A.
We’re conveniently located just a few miles from Tyler State Park, where you can swim, bike, or rent paddleboats, and the Caldwell Zoo, known as one of the best small zoos in Texas. Shopping, museums, and great food are close by, along with unique stops in nearby Lindale—like Miranda Lambert’s Pink Pistol boutique.

The site is close to downtown Lindale (5 minutes) restaurants and shopping. 15 minutes from tyler. It is country living but still close to city action.
The lower parts of the property require 4-wheel drive, but the top has water and electricity, so any car is fine.
As this is an outdoor area, there are bugs and critters. I have never had a problem, but this is notice that you agree to assume all liability and responsibility for your party by camping at this property. NEW: Starlink Satellite Internet!

Our homestead is a few acres in East Texas, near Hawkins. The land has been untouched for about 30 years, maybe last used for cattle grazing. We're keeping the property as natural as possible, we live here off-grid and off-pipe.
There’s a 17 acre lake that we share with neighbors. It’s full of bass, bluegill, crappie and catfish, we encourage catch and keep fishing since the lake could use a little fishing pressure. We also have a beaver pond, and resident beaver.
Some of the wildlife we see regularly: fireflies, turtles, cardinals, bluejays, hummingbirds, kite birds, frogs, opossums, armadillos, beaver, river otter, road runners and rabbits. These plants live here too: Beautyberry, Dewberry, Pokeberry, Sparkleberry, Dogfennel, Dogwood, Yaupon Holly, Holly, Wax Myrtle, Sassafras , Lyreleaf Sage, Carolina Crane’s bill, Coral Honeysuckle, Western White Honeysuckle, Smooth Cat’s Ear, Daisy Fleabane, Prairie Onion, Mullein, Summer Grape, Water Lily. The entire water lily plant is edible, did you know?
Swim, hang out, cool down on the small swimming dock. Canoe and kayak included! Based on shared availability, we have 1 two person canoe, and 3 kayaks for use on our lake free of charge. There are smaller size adult life jackets and oars/paddles. Bring your own life jackets for kids.

TARA was named after the sailboat TARA, pierce family started the vineyard in 2006 and opened the winery in 2007. The historic Murchison mansion is an iconic structure in the midst of the vines. Weekend Trip to Seven Acres Campground
This stay was as described plus some! Most importantly for me is always having my coffee and there's a cute little cabin "tea house" with a kitchen for long stay use plus coffee, tea, and snacks. It was adorable and quite a surprise because the listing said a coffee maker was in the laundry room. Untrue and should be updated to reflect how cute the standalone "tea house" really is! The bathhouse should really be called luxury bath cabin. It is really nice, very clean, and just steps from the cabin I stayed in. It's shared among all cabins so that could turn some off, but it was so nice that I absolutely didn't mind. The area is really pretty, filled with trees and flowers, and sweet outside cats. Right across the street from the lake. The road noise might be busy during prime season but overall, this stay was quiet and relaxing, more than a simple overnight campsite, which was just what I was looking for.

Had a great time here! The area was spacious, camp fire and tire swing along with grill area in great locations. Host was super nice as well as her pup who my dog got along with and that's saying something because she likes her personal space. Her dog was a great watch dog of the area, showing my dog around the area and he spent time around my camp area which was nice. Great scenery and I would definitely stay here the next time I want to visit East Tx and go camping 😀

My kids and I had a wonderful experience at music springs! We will definitely be making a trip back. The caping site was very cozy. The bathrooms were very clean! You don’t see that often in camping sites. We really enjoyed our time here.

Great place for friends and family. I brought my friends out there for a 2 day campout and it was a very great experience. I have 2 small children and they had a blast playing with the toys from the game shed and on the playground. Overall a great experience and 10/10 would definitely recommend!

My kids had a blast. There's a little playground. Getting to see new baby goats was the best thing ever. Lots of area to explore. We got to see many different kinds of mushrooms in the woods.(just looked, didn't pick any). The cabin was nice. Had spots for everyone. We will be back in the spring for berry season!

We had a great time. The site was nice with a big stone for ring and a soft bed if pine needles. The host, Linda, was very accommodating and responded quickly to communications and made the trip stress free.
We loved Porter the goat, Andy the big lovable dog and Molly the little friendly dog. Andy and Porter slept outside of our tent and it was adorable.
The location of pretty with some room to explore.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tent camping experience on Site #1 on Cody and Ingrid's land. The site itself was incredibly spacious and felt private. We especially loved the nearby pond, which was the perfect starting point for a beautiful trail that loops right back to the campsite. The clean and stylishly decorated bathroom was an excellent bonus! Thank you for a truly memorable and refreshing stay.

Our trip on Christopher’s land was fantastic! The property was beautiful and a wonderful escape from the city. The pond was a really nice element, and we manage to catch a perch and a bass before a cold front came in. Christopher was very attentive and even brought us extra firewood when we requested it after arrival! His hospitality was extraordinary. The process was very simple and I would certainly return to this spot in the future.

Had an awesome tent camping experience here at Tara Vineyard and Winery! First of there are adorable animals 💜. Secondly the bathroom amenities were super clean! Note that the shower is an outdoor shower so be sure to bring a bathing suit to shower in. The shower water was lukewarm, but honestly didn’t bother me. Overall had a great time camping here. Sadly, we didn’t make time to try out the winery, but guess we’ll have to come back and try it out! The charcuterie boards looked amazing though 😍!

Such a beautiful spot! Very quiet, tons of trees, cutesy fire wood, chairs, sinks, trails. Loved my time there. Will definitely book again. 60 acres to roam and I was lucky to catch the leaves changing. They’re serious about allowing dogs off leash. Not an issue for me. I love dogs and enjoyed my several sweet dog visitors.

Great place to camp with Lynda and Reston being great hosts! We got in very late due to an unseen emergency and Reston still escorted us to our camp site. The grounds were great with so much room to explore. The Haunt was awesome and being able to order breakfast the last day was so much easier for pack up.

Overview
About
Set in the piney woods between Dallas and Shreveport, this popular park features nearly 1,000 wooded acres, a 64-acre lake, and more than 13 miles of hiking trails, mountain biking trails, and nature trails. On the water, try swimming, paddling, boating, or fishing for bass, catfish, and crappie. Amenities include a boat ramp, three fishing piers, a bathhouse, and a swimming area. The park is also home to historic Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) buildings, lovely picnic areas, plenty of wildlife, and ranger-led programs. Several campgrounds offer more than 120 sites for campers, including tent camping sites, full hookup RV sites, cabins, and screened shelters.
Notable campgrounds
- Best for lake views: The aptly named Lakeview Camping Area offers sites right on the lakeshore.
- Best for RVs: The Big Pine Trailer Area is only for motorhomes, providing water, sewage, 50-amp electric hookups, picnic tables, and fire rings.
- Best for comfort: Six cabins offer beds, air-conditioning, heat, a microwave, and a refrigerator, but no bathrooms, full kitchens, or linens.
Tips for snagging a campsite
- During peak season, plan to make a reservation as soon as you know your dates. Campsites, cabins, and screened shelters can be reserved up to five months in advance.
- If your plans are flexible, try to visit during the week, during non-holiday periods, or over winter. The park is open year-round.
- If you don’t have an advance reservation, arrive at the park first thing in the morning for a chance at any unreserved spots.
When to go
The park is busiest from March to Thanksgiving. Spring is a great time to view wildflowers and flowering trees, while fall brings good leaf-peeping. Spring and fall are also when you might spot migrating birds. Winters are mild and short here, making it an uncrowded time to visit. Campsites require two-night reservations for weekends and three nights for Labor Day and Memorial Day weekends. Boat rentals are available year-round, but not on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from Labor Day to Memorial Day.
Know before you go
- The park store rents canoes, kayaks, paddleboats, bike boats, and johnboats, and sells snacks, gifts, toys, camping supplies, and fishing supplies.
- There’s a 5 mph speed limit for motor boats. Fishing licenses are not required if fishing from shore, though they are required if fishing from a boat. Fishing gear loans are available.
- Bring your binoculars for birdwatching, as more than 200 species of birds have been spotted in the park.
- Pets are allowed but not in the Creekside Camping Area or any park buildings, including cabins and screened shelters.

Lots of trails to hike! Plus a swimming area, canoe & paddle boat rentals, convenience store. I read online you can also rent fishing gear. Typical State Park where campsites are fairly close to each other and bathrooms are a little bit icky. The park was pretty booked, but it didn't feel too crowded on the trails, roads, campgrounds or bathrooms.

Stayed in #119 during an unseasonably warm January. Not as nice views as 126 or 124 but provided some distance from neighbors and still close to restroom. Trail around the lake is nice as were park personnel. We could occasionally hear noise from the cabins across the lake from site 119, but it was really minor.
