What a Hipcamp Should Be
We stayed at the site overlooking the lake and loved it! Per the description, it does slope in spots, but nothing a cot or an extra blanket couldn’t fix. We were able to fit 2 large tents on the site, no problem. The property itself is gorgeous and peaceful. The hosts are wonderful. I didn’t see them once, but any time I texted with a question, they responded in minutes. The little trails down to the lake are fun to explore. I would love to camp here in the snow, but the road down is a little gnarly. Site comes with all the water and firewood you need. Potty was clean and nice! You can tell the owners put a lot of love and care into the whole property. Overall, great experience and sad we only got one night due to a tropical storm.

Great site for first time campers.
This was the perfect spot for three first time campers. Unlimited firewood, kindling, drinkable water, running water for handwashing and cleaning and a clean porta potty right at the site. We stayed at Camp Site 2 and didnt come across any campers at Camp Site 1. We felt like we had the woods to ourselves. Site 2 is a 5 minute walk from the nearby lake and connects to about a 1.5 mile easy hike largely alongside the lake. There were maybe two leveled surfaces to pitch our tents where other areas we slightly sloped. 15 minute or so drive to supermarkets and gas. Highly recommend, would definitely be back again.

The place is amazing! The site is gorgeous, and they have bat boxes so the bugs aren’t that bad! They have plenty of fire wood for you and water as well! And a porta potty!!! Wish it was easier to get down to the water but they give you a map to get there. Very nice place!

My Go-To Spot
this is a excellent private spot... been here a few times.. the location itself is ideal for those who want peace and engage in the wilderness without actually having to backpack in... you can drive right to the site and walk 100ft to camp. there are plenty to do in the surrounding area and the proximity to stores is a plus... the unlimited firewood is a major plus! there are great hiking trails and fishing spots.. had another great time

We loved Camp Blackbird so much! We were able to bring our dog and it was such a relaxing time. The land is beautiful and having the lake a few minutes away was a huge plus. We wish we could have stayed longer than just one night but we will definitely be back with our family!

Great spot. You're secluded, but there's much available to you.. Stay at your campsite and enjoy the private serenity, or, go to the lake and enjoy the serenity of boating fishing or swimming . Or go into town and interact with the locals and get to know the area. Suit your fancy.

Campsite was perfect! Secluded, wood, water and port a john provided. Worth the extra cost over jam packed state park. Only other site on property was over 300ft away. Very little noise.

Top-notch camping experience
My husband, dog and I thoroughly enjoyed our camping experience at Camp Blackbird. The property is awesome being adjacent to Beltzville State Park with 2 nicely situated campsites. I appreciated that each site has its own “Time Machine” (porta-potty) and plenty of room for our 12-person sized tent. The benches around the fire ring are a nice touch too.

Tent, Trees & Lake - Perfect!
This campsite is, as Mary Poppins, would say, "practically perfect in every way." Truly, it is a dream. Open space surrounded by tall trees and the sparkle of the lake seen through the tree trunks. The trails that are connected are well kept and make for easy hiking right from your campsite. Water and (very nice) firewood provided. Campsite 1 has a completely adequate flat spot to pitch a tent - when facing the lake, directly to the right of the fire pit. I love this spot and look forward to returning.

Camp Blackbird is a great tent site. The camp was secluded and well maintained. The first morning, I walked our dog down to Beltzville Lake. It was so peaceful with a wisp of mist coming off the water. The Beltzville Park is loaded with rhododendron. I can only image how amazing it looks in the spring.
On Sunday before we left, the host sent me a message that new arrivals were not expected and we could hang out past the 12:00 check-out time. We took advantage of the offer and walked the Preacher's Camp trail. We were expecting a simple walk along the lake, but it was much more. The trail is a narrow path that runs parallel the trail. It's not long, but it's a challenging.
We would definitely come back.

Had a great time at Camp Blackbird's site! We had plenty of room to set up campsite alongside the firepit and picnic table. It was great to have unlimited water and fire wood, and our own designated Porta-Potty, which was very clean. It was a nice walk on a trail to the lake and we loved that it was pet friendly! It also felt safe and private. Definitely recommend for a camping getaway!

Absolutely Incredible!
If you’re interested in eco-conscious camping and hosts who truly care about their site, you MUST check out Camp Blackbird. The hosts are lovely and provide firewood (to stop the spread of pesky invasive species!), drinking water, and the very glamorous “Time Machine” (well kept outhouse). Come stay during the summer nights and hear the payoff from their lovely nearby bat habitat with several wooden bat houses up the hill from the campsites, or perhaps you’ll even hear the whinny of some Easten Screech owls or the odd Barred Owl call! Take one of the trails down to the Beltzville Lake complex of trails; keep an eye out overhead for one of the many Bald Eagles that frequent the area! Great opportunities for wildlife photography, or just enjoying a very healthy slice of nature. These hosts are doing it SO right. 10/10, I cannot overstate how wonderful this campsite is and I cannot wait to book a future stay!

Everything was perfect and exactly as described. We had a nice private site stocked with wood and water upon our arrival and our own portapotty. The property was quiet and beautiful, with the highlight being the lake just 10 minutes walking from our site. Will definitely be back again!

Excellent location, with 1 issue
The location of these campsites is ideal. It's just a short walk to the lake and park, which we had an absolute blast swimming and playing in. The campsite itself (#2) had running, potable water, along with a Porta potty, and plenty of firewood and tinder. The hosts were very responsive. My only criticisms would be, first of all, that the Porta potty, while very clean on the inside, smelled awful because it needed to be emptied. I would highly recommend to the owners that it be emptied more frequently. The other minor criticism is that the tent sites weren't super level. Either re-grading or adding wooden platforms may be a good idea. Despite these criticisms, we will be back!

I stayed at Campsite 1 with a group of six, seven including the dog. The campsite was private, clean, and came with 2 jugs of water that the owners provided for us. There was also a shed full of firewood for us to use, once again provided by the owners, as well as a first aid kit. Recycling and garbage bins are provided on site. Throughout the trip, they were responsive to our concerns, refilling our water jugs and restocking our firewood when we asked. The lake was beautiful, with a great place to swim just a few minutes away by hike. Great campsite, great location, and great owners. Couldn't have asked for more!

Lovely spot to camp!
A great location! The water access is lovely, a great spot to swim and hang out. The host provides a lot of helpful materials such as firewood and water. Having a portapoddy was cool too if that matters to you. Campsite 1 didn’t have any flat spots for the tent which was fine but may matter more to others. Plenty of space though and enough distance from site #2 for enough privacy. Good host, good communication, easy in and out although the initial turn off from the road did take a short double back to find. Not a problem.

Wonderful quiet & private site
What a spot! Quiet and private and plenty of space. We’ve stayed at both site 1 and 2 and both times were terrific. Kids loved the easy access to the lake for swimming and fishing. Hosts were very quick to respond to provide extra water and firewood. We will definitely be back.

Camp site is spacious and private. I felt like I had the whole state park to myself. Did the nearby 2-3 hour hike and spent the rest of my time hammocking and swimming. Super easy access to lake.

This campsite is a dream. It's quiet, secluded, and has the essentials (the water and firewood were so appreciated!) I believe this site is near a bat conservatory, which might explain why we didn't see a single mosquito in the middle of July. Incredible! FYI the road down to the campsite is rocky -- you don't need 4WD, but it would help.

Beautiful Site
My children and I stayed at campsite two and loved it. It was remote, but easily accessible by car. The firewood was dry and supplied water was enough for our two night stay. I was solo with the kids for the first time and really feel more confident after staying here that we can make this a regular outing.
The property surrounding the site is the real attraction here. It was clean with simple trails that led to amazing views of water and places to swim. There are also amazing things to do nearby (within 20 minutes); we rented boats and toured the Lehigh Gorge by train. Although, my kids told me that the best part was really just staying at the site!

A Beautiful Camping Spot
My boyfriend had such a great time at Camp Blackbird! The site is so pretty and really large, we definitely want to come back with some friends. Sarah and Stein provided us with plenty of drinking water, firewood/supplies, and a very detailed guide. The weather was nice so we were able to swim in the lake, which was so nice and refreshing. I can’t recommend this site enough, it absolutely lives up to all the positive reviews. We hope to come back another time soon!
