Neal Homestead Camp
5 units · Glamping, Motorhomes, Tents50 acres · Brookville, PAThe stone cabin is my grandfather's homestead foundation. There was a two story house on it. He remembers his mother scrubbing the board walk to the outhouse every Saturday until the boards were white. Now the composting toilet is inside the cabin. Cornerstones of the old barn is in the field above the cabin. The soil is very rocky and Grandpa said they " lived on elderberries and groundhog". There is 50 acres with a pink marked trail to Red Bank Creek and back up through a hemlock forest. A small stream runs through the property and forms a rocky delta in Red Bank Creek. I love the rocks on the property huge and small. Hike, enjoy the sound of the stream tickling through property, stargaze, or rest and relaxation in a hammock. There is one along the little stream and one at Outdoor Adventure Camp Site.

River Hills Above the Allegheny
7 units · Motorhomes, Tents75 acres · Parker, PAThis property is 1hr 15min from Pittsburgh. Our approach is to have a small number of campsites over a large area (4 sites on 75 acres) to maintain privacy and keep that “middle of the woods” feeling. This property sits high in the river hills above the mighty Allegheny with stunning views, soaring eagles, and wildlife living in its natural setting. There is even a waterfall with a natural pool to enjoy. This property is undeveloped with no homes on it. It is private, and posted. It is a place you can feel safe and secure. Sites are limited to 4 adults max (kids don’t count against the 4). With no electricity or running water, it is free of the constant presence of random people that you find in state parks. This is a truly great place to disconnect, discover new places, and forget the outside world. Within a 10 minute drive of your campsite you can find The North Country Trail, Rails to Trails Trailheads and Boat Launches on the Allegheny River. This is camping at its best!! The reviews do not lie!!

Flannel Dog Farm
3 units · Glamping, Motorhomes, Tents7 acres · Ashtabula, OHBuilt in 1860, our brick farmhouse is an area icon, and we are so very fortunate to have our small farm on this beautiful property. Less than a mile from Lake Erie, we have seven idyllic acres where we grow our own vegetables and fruits, raise chickens and ducks, and make sourdough bread, beer, wine, and art from Copper Leaf Studios (onsite!). We are a monarch waystation and have several acres dedicated to pollinators, native plants and trees, and all of the happy insects, birds, and animals that come along with them. We are advocates of inclusion, local community, and sustainable living. We love telling and hearing good stories. We believe in the powers of kindness and peace. We hope to share our part of the world with others. We are very happy to offer a place where your pup(s) can spend time off leash and enjoy some rest and relaxation with you! We have firewood onsite for HipCamper use and if you'd like breakfast, we are happy to make you a homemade breakfast that will almost always include food grown/raised on our farm and/or locally for a reasonable cost. We have a composting toilet outhouse as well as a half-bath with a flushable toilet. Much like our farm's name, our place is warm, welcoming, rustic, and a bit gritty.

Sawdust FarmCamp
4 units · Glamping400 acres · Geneva, OHNaturalist Isabelle H. Klein wrote a collection of letters from her home of Sawdust (named form the sawdust left by the loggers of the early 60’s) for the Cleveland Museum of Natural History’s Explorer Magazine from the winter of 1969 to the summer of 1976. They then were published as the book “Letters From Sawdust” by the Press of Case Western Reserve University for the Museum. It is a lyrical voyage through the seasons at the Sawdust Tract in Northeast Ohio. She details encounters with the wildlife of the area as well as the changing seasons and plant life. Reminiscent of Thoreau's writings about Walden. In 1978 an additional house was moved onto the property from Sidley's gravel pit and joined with the existing Klein farmhouse. We decided to preserve almost 400 acres of the property with the help of the Western Reserve Land Conservatory for the Cleveland Museum Of Natural History, Natural Areas. Forest is home to the red-sided dace, and 10 rare species of birds, including cerulean warblers. The original small family farm and surrounding woods, that we have retained, are being restored and updated. Renovations of the two houses are almost complete. We are proud to call Sawdust home and would love to share it with you.

Burnhead Grazings
3 units · Glamping, Tents68 acres · Indiana , PAThe rich history of Burnhead Grazings is enveloped in a love for God's creation. Dr. Gib and Emmy Lou McLaughlin purchased Burnhead, which is Gaelic for the head of the stream, from William H. Stevens. The once pasture for Hilltop Dairy's cows became a pasture for sheep. Gib and Emmy had been in search of land for years after getting their first border collie and falling in love with the Shepherd lifestyle. Gib trained dozens of border collies to work the sheep and did hundreds of demonstrations highlighting the herding abilities of the collie across the country. Their love for Scotland and the border collie took them Scotland on many occasions. Burnhead Grazings is a snapshot of Scotland, "in bye" or close to, the beautiful college town of Indiana, PA. Less than two miles from two hotels, three miles from downtown, and within minutes from Amish country, it is amazing that this respite still exists so close to civilization. Gib and Emmy's daughter, Moire McLaughlin Bridges and her husband Randy have endeavored to bring the sheep back to Burnhead Grazings and to continue the family tradition as well as to share in the experience. You can listen to an interview on The Christian Witness Program on this page for some history about Moire and Randy in Tennessee where they were residing before coming to Indiana. They are producing lamb, wool for spinning and felting, and hay and are opening up the farm for small events such as weddings or family reunions. Moire is also the author and illustrator of a children's book available for sale on iBooks called Sissy & The King. In November of 2014, with the help of Hilltop Baptist Church and many others, they began hosting an event, LIFE Nativity, the weekend before Thanksgiving, which benefits Life-Way Pregnancy Center. Moire is also a fine artist and gives classes on wool felting. Ask about signing up for a class or book a private felting party.

Set in western New York and surrounded by several state forests, Chautauqua Lake stretches for 17 miles. A popular lake getaway in the summer, visitors flock here to go swimming, fishing, paddling, and boating. Several lakeside parks and charming towns can be found around the lake, including “home of comedy” Jamestown, Chautauqua, Mayville, and Bemus Point. Also nearby is Lake Erie, one of the great lakes. In winter, ice fishing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling are popular, along with downhill skiing in nearby ski resorts.

Where to Go

South Shore

Located near the southeast end of the lake, Jamestown is home to a lively performing arts scene, along with the Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz Museum, the National Comedy Center, and Audubon Nature Center. You can camp along the lakeshore and find options for tents and large RVs with full hookups and cabins, plus plenty of amenities.

West Shore

The town of Chautauqua is the home of the Chautauqua Institution, a renowned cultural and performing arts venue. Tucked away in a secluded wooded area just south of the town is Camp Prendergast, which offers tent sites and RV sites with full hookups and amenities like a swimming pool.

East Shore

At the town of Bemus Point, Long Point State Park juts out into the lake and offers a modern boat launch, fishing dock, pavilions, and several trails. Just north, one of the oldest amusement parks in the country can be found at Midway State Park. The only bridge across the lake can also be found here, connecting to Stow on the western shore of the lake.

North Shore

The county seat of Mayville can be found at the northern end of the lake. Continue north and you’ll hit Lake Erie, with plenty of options for enjoying the water, and more than 20 wineries. Lake Erie State Park offers easy lake access and a campground on a bluff overlooking the lake, and more than 100 tent and RV campsites and cabins. Further south along the shore, Evangola State Park is another option, while several private campgrounds sit right along the shores of Lake Erie.
