The Dartmoor Inn at Merrivale is a 750 metre walk — an acclaimed open-fire restaurant serving exceptional meat, well worth the short walk across the moor.

Wild About Campers is a peaceful retreat amid spectacular hiking country in the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and 25 minutes’ drive from cliff-top treks along the South West Coast Path.
The Jurassic Coast at Lyme Regis is within 25 minutes’ drive, and if you feel a major shopping expedition coming on, the historic cathedral city of Exeter (35 minutes) will see you right. Both Exmoor and Dartmoor national parks are less than an hour’s drive away, while the pretty neighbouring town of Honiton (10 minutes) offers pubs and tearooms as well as antique shops to browse.
But if it’s a rural retreat you’re after, well, this is the place. The camping paddock is surrounded by peaceful farmland and borders the River Otter (look out for the resident beavers, otters and kingfishers, which occasionally appear), so you can fall asleep lulled by the burble of the river along with the distant hoot of barn owls – and wake up fresh in the morning to the sound of birdsong.
A popular family-run pub is five minutes’ stroll from the campsite, and you can pick up emergency supplies from a well-stocked village shop run by volunteers (five minutes’ drive).

Little Harford Lower Woodland is set in a property of just over 6 acres. The woodland here at Little Harford is a tranquil place for people wanting to find peace and quiet in a back to nature experience. A small river meanders through the bottom of the lower woodland which can occasionally come up to the top of the bank with lots of rain. A winding path leads down through the woodland to where the land levels out at the water meadow area of the woodland. A family of buzzards live in the valley and you can often hear owls, pheasants and wild birds. A certain degree of fitness is needed as there is no vehicle access and wheelbarrows are available to help move your gear. There is parking at the entrance to the lower woodland on hard standing. A compost toilet is available for all No.2’s and mindful wild peeing is encouraged. Tap water is available from an outside tap at the property for drinking water. There is a washing up area (eco products provided) and a solar-powered gas fired shower. Campfires are allowed and seasoned wood can be purchased at a small extra cost. Nearest village of Tedburn St Mary with a local pub and the village shop is 1 ½ miles away. The nearest town of Crediton is 3 miles away with plenty of supermarkets, cafes, pubs and restaurants. Dartmoor is close by with Fingle Bridge just a 20 minute drive. We only offer a very limited number of camping spots at any time to preserve the tranquility for everyone. It’s 25 miles to the edge of Exmoor or Dartmoor and to Woolacombe’s award winning golden sandy beach. All of Devon is within reach of a day trip but you wouldn’t know it when you’re back on site listening to the sounds of nature and watching the stars come out in the dark, dark skies above, listening to the owls calling.

Experience camping like it used to be, in nearly 20 acres of peaceful Devon countryside.
With fields, woodlands and a stream running through the middle, there's space for family, friends and dogs too, find your spot and get exploring, there are no designated pitches here. Nestled between Dartmoor National Park to the south and the dramatic Cornish coastline to the north you will not be short of a story to share around the campfire.
It's not just people, as neighbours to a County Wildlife Site, we are very excited to discover the wildlife that also calls our patch home and help protect some rare habitats: we are custodians to a small patch of extremely rare Temperate Rainforest and Culm Grassland that is a nature-lovers' paradise.
The closest you’ll get to a wash is a splash in the on-site stream, the only undercover space is our small, communal field shelter and when it comes to drinking water – come prepared WE HAVE NO DRINKING WATER ON SITE!
What we lack in luxuries, we make up for with freedom! Space to wander, play games, stargaze and generally have fun however that looks to you:

The Yeworthy Treehouse is a stunning eco-friendly, off-grid retreat set amongst the tree-tops and above a private lake. The cosy treehouse comes with a log-burner to keep you cosy and enjoys breathtaking views from the balcony. The surroundings are completely secluded and perfectly private - you will only have the birds and wild deer who roam the forest as neighbours. Guests can also enjoy the use of the summer-house, perfect for BBQs in the summer months, and the rowing boat on the lake.
The tree-house is eco-friendly and totally off-grid so is perfect for those looking for a peaceful and undisturbed stay. The treehouse has a double bed with plenty of comfy cushions and pillows while the log-burning stove means you can stay warm and cosy, even on the colder nights. Logs can be purchased from the owners upon arrival for £5. A kettle can be boiled and basic cooking can be done on a 2 ring gas-fired camp stove, complete with kitchen utensils, pots and pans to rustle up a meal.
Fresh water is provided for guests from a bowser. The private, eco-friendly, sawdust toilet is in a separate structure nestled amongst the trees.
Please note there is no shower facility and guests will have to bring their own towels.
Guests will be met by the owners who will transport you down to the treehouse in a jeep. Guests will have access to the jeep for the duration of their stay.
The Yeworthy Treehouse is a perfect getaway for those who want to get back to nature, sleep amongst the stars and enjoy the peace and tranquility that the setting provides.
Please note: From 1st October to 1st April each year, the boat will be out of commission and unavailable for guest use. This will be an ongoing seasonal closure each year. This property is for adult guests only. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate anyone under the age of 18.

We had a fantastic time at Lickham Bottom camp. We stayed at ‘Oak Tree Nook.’ The camp was beautiful and so ingeniously put together. The Bell tent was really comfortable and having hot showers was so welcome. The children had an absolute blast playing badminton, trivial pursuit and jenga from the games shed, lying in the hammocks and playing on the swing. I would definitely recommend.

We loved the campingsite by Jonathan. We were the only ones there so if you like peace and quiet this is the place to be. We had a lovely spot with a lot of sun and a view on the river. We could not always swim with the low tides but when it was high it was great. Our host Jonathan helped us with recommandations for things to do in the neighbourhood. We did nice walks and went to a castle. We would come back here in the future.

Absolute gem of a camping site. Beautiful, astonishingly quiet (except for the birdsong), my sons were thrilled at being able to fish at the bottom of the field, camp fires are allowed and the shower is so cute- in a converted horsebox! If you like seclusion this is the place for you. Maybe no one else does, as we were the only people there for several days, and were only ever joined by two more parties of people.

First time visitors, welcomed like old friends to Tam & Jonnys beautiful site. The cabin was the perfect escape for us and our dog. The bed was so comfortable, we all slept like logs! The location by the river is super relaxing and peaceful. The camp kitchen had everything we needed and more, such thought has been put into everything and Tam & Jonny are the kindest hosts you could wish to meet. We can’t wait to return for a second visit!

absolutely fantastic campsite, we loved everything about it! It was so peaceful I stunning countryside and we mostly had the site to ourselves. The children loved playing endlessly in the stream and they enjoyed the play area and stroking the loveable dog; Bear.
The toilets were pristine. We were fine getting up the steep slope but it would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues.
We can't wait to come back next year!

This was such an incredible stay and exceeded all of our expectations. The location is absolutely stunning, with beautiful scenery all around, and it feels wonderfully private and peaceful. It really is the perfect place to switch off, slow down, and enjoy being surrounded by nature.
Andy was so friendly and welcoming, and made everything feel easy and straightforward from start to finish. We had such a relaxing time and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet escape. We’d love to come back!

Lovely site very clearly well maintained and not cramped like many places you get a good amount of your own space. Facilities are spot on with washing up (dishes) facilities as well as nice showers in the bathroom area. Firewood on site so no need to carry it round in the car.

We had our own, private pitch right beside the river and 200M away from anyone else. Beautifully quiet and secluded with a private beach for direct access to the river. However, be aware that there are NO facilities - no sinks, no showers and (importantly) no phone signal - so if that's what you're looking for, this ain't the site for you.

Excellent campsite, quite literally off the beaten track. Perfect if you're seeking some peace and quiet off grid. Loads of space with options to camp close to others or choose something more isolated (explore the site fully before you pitch). Facilities are very basic, but the trampoline, sauna and hot tub next to the river are excellent additions and make for great entertainment and a good way to wake up in the morning. Charles and his family made us feel very welcome and supplied a potential cleansing tea tree, lavender and salt mix for washing and sauna. Highly recommend visiting Bantham Beach, which is a 20 minute drive away.

Absolutely stunning spot to camp. Beautiful views, well apart from other campers. Clean compost toilet with toilet roll and hand gel available - and a sink with soap just across in the horsebox. Excellent hot shower in the horse box - with only 1 spider seen thankfully, as I really needed a shower after our free mud bath spa treatment (pay attention to the tide times when kayaking 😂)
Jonathan was very responsive and came straight out to show us how to get to the river.

I thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Enchanted Wilderness campsite, it is such a beautiful spot right next to the river Tamar. We hired the kayak and paddled up to Calstock and had a wonderful time. I will be returning next weekend to do it all again! Thank you Johnathan
