Welcome to Livit Hideaway- a hidden gem in the Devon countryside. Stay in one of our two beautiful hand crafted Shepherds huts tucked away in our peaceful small holding and hobby vineyard. Surrounded by nature you can truly unwind in the wood fired hot tub as you admire the far reaching views. Livit Hideaway is a smallholding of around 3.75 acres where we grow 200 vines for wine production, we make cider from our apples and grow our own vegetables and fruit produce. It's the ideal place to relax and really switch off. We are perfectly placed half way between Bideford and Bude, if you love the beach, then just 25 minutes in either direction you will find some of the best in the South West. We recently acquired this already established site where the previous owners ran a thriving holiday business and shared their wonderful space with guests over the last 4 years. They have passed the baton to us and we are thrilled to take over and continue to create unique new experiences for guests who visit. We run another glamping business close by called Livit Adventures- it's a family friendly site with lots of activities on offer during the summer season. We purchased this new site so we could establish a family home for ourselves as well as continue our passion for the holiday accommodation business. We hope you love it as much as we do. Here at Livit Hideaway we have two hand crafted Shepherds huts. Each hut has its own unique setting within our smallholding. The huts have wood fired hot tubs, mains electric and mains water supply, a lovely shower room with loo, washbasin and shower. We provide all bedding and towels so you don't have to bring your own. There is a cosy sitting/dining area inside by the fully equipped kitchen which includes a butler sink, oven, hob, fridge, kettle, toaster, glasses, crockery and cutlery. Each outside area includes a fire pit with a bbq grill and seating for dining and relaxing. Everything you really need for you country escape.

We really care about the environment and hope you do too. We commit to local and organic wherever possible, only use environmentally friendly cleaning products and toiletries. We look after our 6 acres with non invasive methods and grow organically. You will find everything you need here, including a lovely, light open plan living area with dining table, well equipped kitchen, comfy sofa, wood burning stove (generous amount of wood and kindling provided), with lovely views over the surrounding fields through the French windows. There is a small covered terrace outside with table and chairs to sit and enjoy your food, a coffee or something a little stronger...... we can also lend you a firepit or bucket BBQ and can sell you logs or local charcoal. You will look out over your own garden area and onto the fields beyond. The bathroom has a large shower and freestanding bath. The large bedroom has a very comfy double bed with organic linen, duck and goose down pillows and a Devon wool duvet. Hairdryer, towels and eco friendly toiletries are provided. A warm welcome with locally produced and organic food and drink awaits you. We supply organic milk (or oat milk), organic coffees, teas, homemade biscotti, Luscombe Elderflower, organic hot chocolate, olive oil, herbs and salt. We offer a range of bookable extras such as homemade organic sourdough, organic cream teas, chilled organic Prosecco and locally sourced breakfast packs. We’re also on hand to give advice, tips on where to go and what to do. We have a very comprehensive online guidebook linked to our website which we’ll share with you when your booking is confirmed. The cottage has its own private woodfired hot tub. Unlike electric hot tubs, this uses fresh water and no chemicals-so is a real treat under the stars or on a lazy afternoon. We will light it and bring it up to temperature for you. This requires 24 hours notice and is available most of the time provided we are here! The hot tub is £50 for two consecutive days' uses, payable in cash on arrival. It can only be used for two consecutive days before it needs to be drained and cleaned. The hot tub is 1.8m diameter and has a fibreglass liner, steps up and in integral woodburner-a really unique experience. If you book ahead of your visit, you can change your mind at zero cost as long as we have 12 hours notice. Please check the weather immediately prior to your stay and let us know if you’d like to go ahead or not! 1 (occasionally 2) well behaved small/medium dog/s (preferably crate trained) welcome strictly by prior arrangement at an additional charge of £45 (£50 for two) per stay. Dogs are not allowed on the sofa or in the bedroom. Please do not add your dog/s to your booking-contact Emma please as we don’t take bookings with dogs until you have seen and agreed to our Ts and Cs. Due to our lovely soft furnishings, we cannot take large/shaggy dogs. Please note, any damage caused by your dog will be charged to you. Escape to Devon and enjoy the luxury of our shepherds hut & hot tub. We're not your average campsite. Our family farm is 350 acres, here you’ll have your own private woodland during your stay. Take a dip in the wood fire hot tub, use the outdoor shower and chill with a glass of wine next to the fire pit. We’ve kitted out an old farm silo and made it a unique outdoor kitchen with all the essentials. The shepherds hut has a double bed fitted, indoor flushing loo and sink. It also has a wood burner to keep you cosy during winter. It's fully insulated and has lighting, as well as plugs so you can charge your phones. The woodland itself is all yours during your stay. it's a native copse (small woodland) which is under 1 acre. There's a stream which runs through the copse, at the entrance a small bridge connects the field to the woods. Tillislow Farm is over 350-acres which includes the main farm, woodlands, streams and ofcourse Slow Glamping. The farm has been run by the same family (Hopper's) for a century. Today it's managed by Jon’s uncle (David) and dad (Michael). Previously a dairy farm, now they rear beef cattle and grow wheat and barley. There’s plenty to discover for fellow nature lovers. If you want to venture further than the campsite, you can head down to the farm yard - please bear in mind it’s a working farm so keep an eye out for tractors, machinery and livestock. If you continue further on, you’ll end up in Tillislow wood. The ancient woodland is teaming with wildlife - if you’re lucky you might spot a deer. Follow the path (an old railway track) which runs alongside the river and you’ll come across the quarry, a little further is a bridge.This is our favourite place on the farm to walk. For the very brave, enjoy a refreshing dip in the River Carey.

Overview

With two of England’s most superbly remote national parks and a smattering of other protected natural spaces (all framed between surf-washed coastlines), Devon is known for its outdoor adventure scene. Beachside barbecues, swims in the English Channel, hikes along jagged cliffs, fossil-hunting on the Jurassic Coast, and all kinds of other activities—from coasteering to kayaking—are among the county’s seaside joys. Inland, sprawling moors and woodlands mean wild camping, open skies, and isolated hikes, plus cycling and horse rides. While the county plays host to big caravan parks and holiday centres, local farms also run independent campsites that rule the roost. And each season unveils a different side to Devon, whether you visit during springtime blooms or autumn colours.

Where to go

Dartmoor National Park & South Devon

While the north coast is home to vast sandy beaches that seem to go on for miles, the southernmost stretch of Devon’s coastline takes in vibrant Plymouth, surfy Torquay, and riverside Dartmouth, along with the protected South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Just inland, much-loved Dartmoor sprawls over 368 square miles of heath-covered national-park wilderness, criss-crossed by walking paths, off-road cycling routes, and wandering cattle and wild ponies, as well as plenty of caravan parks and campsites that offer simple patches to pitch a tent or park your campervan away from the crowds. Whether you're hunting for a school holiday stay at a pop-up campsite, a snug glamping getaway, or a winter campervan break, there’s plenty of choice in South Devon among white-water kayaking, rock-climbing, and horse riding.

Exmoor National Park & North Devon

Windswept moors, quiet woodlands, forested valleys, sweeping coastal views and roaming horses make Exmoor one of the southwest’s most magical corners. This 267-square-mile space has been a protected national park since the 1950s, with hundreds of miles of walking, cycling, and horse-riding trails, and you can try everything from coasteering to kayaking to pony trekking. Also in north Devon are the county’s best surf beaches (especially around Croyde and Woolacombe), some delightful villages, and spectacular camping spots, whether you’re keen to stay on the sandy blonde coast or go wild camping on Exmoor.

Devon's Jurassic Coast

Stretching east from Exmouth all the way to Old Harry Rocks in neighbouring Dorset, the 95-mile Jurassic Coast is a UNESCO-protected highlight of southern England, covering 185 million years of history. Devon’s section (the most ancient) is known for its plunging rust-coloured Triassic cliffs and is protected by the 103-square-mile East Devon AONB. Spend days swimming at blissful sandy beaches, unearthing ancient fossils, walking some of the long-distance South West Coast Path, heading out sea-kayaking, paddle-boarding or surfing, and exploring charming coastal towns and villages like Sidmouth, Seaton, and Beer (known for its white-chalk cliffs).

Exeter & East Devon

Head inland from Devon’s Jurassic Coast and you’ll reach lively Exeter, with its astonishing 12th- to 13th-century cathedral, intriguing Roman history and busy bar-and-restaurant scene. Much of the rippling countryside to the city's east is protected by the East Devon AONB and, on the Somerset border, the small-yet-biodiverse Blackdown Hills AONB. Both offer rewarding cycling, horse riding, water sports, stargazing and, of course, camping, as well as lovely walks among river valleys, wide-open ridges, and remote farms and villages (including the 40-mile East Devon Way).

While surfers crowd the most popular beaches in Devon, it’s families that really make the place their home each summer, cementing the county as one of the most popular family holiday locations in the UK. The good weather, vast amount of space, family-friendly restaurants and, of course, the camping all contribute to this status.
