We are surrounded by stunning countryside where you can take your dog for a short stroll across the fields or go for a long romp through the woods and valleys. Or just sit and relax, listen to the birds and soak up the peace and quiet.
We are fortunate to be in a 'dark sky' area, perfect for long, relaxing summer nights around the campfie, sipping hot chocolate, toasting marshmallows and spotting shooting stars!
During the summer our site is a popular spot for families and campers visiting nearby Camber Sands sandy beach and year round we welcome all different types of campervan, motorhome and caravan.
We look forward to welcome you to our little slice of paradise.
Please note our strict 'no group' policy - we only accept single families, single couple and single campers. No more than 2 adults in any group, even on separate pitches.
Please bring your acoustic guitar or similar but, as this is a quiet site, please no radios, stereos or videos unless you're using headphones. The birdsong here is incredible by the way!
Very wet weather and winter – please note in the off-season, and if very wet, the camping field is closed to vehicles, replaced instead by semi-hardstanding areas or our summer car-park area. Facilities are open but please be prepared for the vagaries of the weather, leaves, puddles and mud. To change pitch please let us know asap so that we can try if possible to find you another. Apart from the car-park, pitches can get very muddy in prolonged, heavy rain. If you are not prepared for these eventualities please do not book.

Purchased by my father John Button in 2009, our family has spent the last 15 years restoring the site to its former glory. We've unearthed the gun battery and Nissan huts bases, gained access to the underground plotting room, dressing station, and ammunition bunker. The journey has been exhilarating, and we've created a museum that's open for visitors most weekends. Come and witness history come to life!
Looking for a hidden gem on the south coast? Look no further than Capel Battery! Perched on top of the iconic White Cliffs of Dover, this spot boasts stunning views and is conveniently located between vibrant Folkestone (just a 5-minute drive away) and historic Dover (only 15 minutes by car). Plus, explore the unique and secluded natural reserve of The Warren or take a stroll along the beautiful Kent Coastal Walkway and beach. It’s got several fishing lakes to choose from with lots of different species, so settle down on the banks with rod in hand and while away a few hours (or days) in quiet contemplation, waiting for something to bite. But please note, the site is not for 'competition anglers' although there are plenty of good sized carp around. and asks anyone fishing to only use barbless hooks, and for fish to be returned to the lake quickly after being caught.Not the fishing type? Chill out in and around your secluded hut, or there’s plenty to entertain in a leisurely fashion: paths wind around the lakes and through copses/shaws (as this is the High Weald) plus through the local countryside. There are spectacular views towards the South Downs National Park from the top lakes. A spring-fed lake is also on site to cool off in with some wild swimming. Lots of bird life around, with feeders outside each hut and waterfowl visitors to the lakes.When it comes to eats, pick up or have supplies delivered from supermarkets or takeaways in Uckfield, Heathfield or Crowborough or take a drive to Buxted Park for some posh food or pubs in Blackboys, Crowborough, Ringles Cross, 5 Ash Down, Rotherfield, or Buxted (it'll take about 10 minutes to drive to any of these). Lots of sample menus in huts.

Preservation of this precious chalk grassland with its outrageously abundant summer meadow flowers is a priority for us. See the orchids in July.. Welcome guests who share that appreciation. We also care about food security and planted a top fruit orchard with walnuts and cobnuts too! Nature spontaneously provides blackberries, sloes.. which are shared. The Barn Owl have their own boxes (although they still enjoy the big barn) and skylarks sing high above the tussocky terrain. Come join them! Even if your singing isn't so good.

The site is only a five-minute drive (or a 30-minute walk) from the traditional Jack and Jill windmills and the neighbouring family-run pub, which serves both grub and good ales. A vineyard is 15 minutes’ walk away from the site if you'd like to include a wine-tasting tour on your break. Otherwise, simply pedal along country lanes on the surrounding cycling routes (it’s easy enough to hire a bike locally).
On your route, you might want to stop by in characterful Ditchling, home to local craftspeople and winemakers. There’s a nice selection of independent shops here, plus cosy cafés and pubs that will serve you a good spread of Sussex food, all within a 5-minute walk.
Back on site, end the day with a cosy evening beside the fire-pits. The site facilities are nicely straightforward otherwise and include warm showers and a separate dishwashing area and of course our newly installed Composting Toilets.

Ramble along to Hastingford Fishery, an adults-only shepherd's hut and fishing site set in a scenic lakeside setting less than five minutes’ drive from the East Sussex village of Hadlow Down and 20 minutes from Royal Tunbridge Wells. This site should suit couples or singles wanting to 'get away from it all' and also fishing fans down to the ground. It’s got several fishing lakes to choose from with lots of different species, so settle down on the banks with rod in hand and while away a few hours (or days) in quiet contemplation, waiting for something to bite. But please note, the site is not for 'competition anglers' although there are plenty of good sized carp around. and asks anyone fishing to only use barbless hooks, and for fish to be returned to the lake quickly after being caught.Not the fishing type? Chill out in and around your secluded hut, or there’s plenty to entertain in a leisurely fashion: paths wind around the lakes and through copses/shaws (as this is the High Weald) plus through the local countryside. There are spectacular views towards the South Downs National Park from the top lakes. A spring-fed lake is also on site to cool off in with some wild swimming. Lots of bird life around, with feeders outside each hut and waterfowl visitors to the lakes.When it comes to eats, pick up or have supplies delivered from supermarkets or takeaways in Uckfield, Heathfield or Crowborough or take a drive to Buxted Park for some posh food or pubs in Blackboys, Crowborough, Ringles Cross, 5 Ash Down, Rotherfield, or Buxted (it'll take about 10 minutes to drive to any of these). The Barn Owl have their own boxes (although they still enjoy the big barn) and skylarks sing high above the tussocky terrain. Come join them! Even if your singing isn't so good.

With Ditchling Camping as your base, you’ll be on track for rural bike rides or visiting Brighton and its busy coast 25 minutes’ drive away. That’s because this dog-friendly site is in Ditchling – a village in the splendid South Downs National Park and a rather excellent location for all sorts of days out.
Good news if the whole family is tagging along: there’s plenty to play with around the site, including an adventure trail through the woodlands, a swing tree and places for kids to fashion their own little dens.
The site is only a five-minute drive (or a 30-minute walk) from the traditional Jack and Jill windmills and the neighbouring family-run pub, which serves both grub and good ales. A vineyard is 15 minutes’ walk away from the site if you'd like to include a wine-tasting tour on your break. Otherwise, simply pedal along country lanes on the surrounding cycling routes (it’s easy enough to hire a bike locally).
On your route, you might want to stop by in characterful Ditchling, home to local craftspeople and winemakers. There’s a nice selection of independent shops here, plus cosy cafés and pubs that will serve you a good spread of Sussex food, all within a 5-minute walk.
Back on site, end the day with a cosy evening beside the fire-pits. The site facilities are nicely straightforward otherwise and include warm showers and a separate dishwashing area and of course our newly installed Composting Toilets.

The camping field is fairly big and basically bare (as can be seen on the pictures). Everything went as expected, toilets and showers were functional (even though not the cleanest and prettiest but that is to be expected from a camp of this size I suppose).
Since the field is so big, it was quite windy without anything to break the winds but otherwise all good.

We loved visiting Dogwood.
We visited on a whim one Sunday evening in early September, needing a break from the city. We were pleased to be welcomed warmly by Phil, who was accommodating and available, despite the random timing !
We had the site to ourselves, and loved the peace and quiet - only accompanied by the animals who were roaming the site.
The toilet and shower facilities were close by and clean, well maintained for the end of season, beginning of off-season.
The site is well positioned and sign posted, a short walk from two pubs and a small shop, easily drivable into Rye, Hastings or Camber for whatever your stay is for!

We only stayed one night as a trial so we didn’t get out & about, but the toilets/showers were clean, and the washing up shed (with charging dock) was very useful. The warden came to lend us a hammer when we were clearly struggling with our mallet, and David’s son very kindly offered help as we had car trouble. It felt like a ‘nice’, safe place to be with our young daughter.

Beautiful little spot with plenty to do in the surrounding areas. Whether it’s walking trails, pubs, wineries or even a medieval town.
There’s no water on the block but the local morrison’s is happy for you to bring water from there to the camp.
Highly recommend and gorgeous spot to set up camp.

Having the farm animals in the same field as us, and them being as relaxed around us as we were around them, was magical. There are full on working farms and at the other end of the spectrum are children’s petting farms - this is neither, it’s living together naturally. We brought our own tent and were told to pitch up anywhere we liked and can make our own fire to cook in etc, and forage for wood in the forest, back to nature stuff. We collected eggs every morning from the chickens and cooked them on the fire - the children were amazed and adored it.

Thanks so much Morag for another magical stay- second time staying with you but first with our children and it was a great success. A lot has changed since our first stay last year with the addition of a new yurt kitchen complete with all the essentials needed, new zip wire, woodland play area and sandpit. The farm has absolutely everything- beautiful surroundings, camping along the river with ample space for the kids to run and play. We made use of all the facilities, there are boats on site so we took these along the river, the children fed the chickens and collected eggs in the morning, they also thoroughly enjoyed walking the goats and spending time with all the other animals on the farm. So overall a great success and we will without a doubt be booking again very soon so once again huge THANK YOU....keep up the good work :)
