I had a really lovely time with my two kids, 8 and 6 at the camp site. They loved their time paddling and kayaking in the stream and the farm animals were very friendly. Morag really made us feel comfortable in the space. I would definitely come again!

Went here with our 2 year old and honestly it was brilliant. Worth knowing going in that it's a proper working farm - animals roam around freely and yes there's the odd bit of poo on the grass, but that's all part of it and our little one absolutely loved seeing piglets just wandering past the tent.
The river was the highlight for us. It's a protected chalk stream so the water is crystal clear and really shallow - perfect for a toddler to just potter around in for hours. There are little boats to mess about with and we even spotted crayfish in there, the water is that clean.
Firepits are dotted all over the site and free to use, just bring your own charcoal. Really nice in the evenings.
In the mornings you can go collect eggs straight from the hens yourself which our son found fascinating. There's also forest school and organised animal activities which are a lovely touch.
Morag is a really warm host. We'll definitely be back.

Fantastic riverside campsite

Beautiful, well kept campsite with plenty of space for everyone to pitch where they like and for ball games in the middle of the field. Very cute and tame piglets, lambs, chickens and goats wander around which my kids loved. My youngest got to bottlefeed the newborns which he was delighted with.
Morag was a welcoming host and we were able to borrow some forgotten pans and cooking equipment.
Being able to collect our own firewood (which was plentiful) from the wooded area was a bonus as most campsites charge a small fortune for logs. We never had to wait long for a shower or the loo and they were always pretty clean.
We stayed during a heatwave so having the river so close by was fantastic. Kids were in and out all day playing on the boats.
We had a great stay here and would definitely recommend.

Morag went above and beyond to make myself, my partner and my pals comfortable although only there for a night we had an unforgettable evening and morag most definitely aided in that- thank you so much ❤️

Overall we had a great weekend - the setting, the farm animals and the river to paddle in were fantastic - but we didn’t feel it was overall value for money, unfortunately, as our very high tent pitch cost meant we hoped for more than the poor toilet and shower facilities (2 toilets, one shower, not in good condition.) Nonetheless the kids loved it and we’d return if the price was much more reflective of the facilities on offer.

We loved camping in the bell tents. The views were amazing. We loved that the sheep and donkey roam around the campsite area. The kids activities were a lovely touch and my son enjoyed taking the goat for a walk. We will be back some day!

Lovely place, rustic and very back to nature. My son loved the whole experience! The little river is a winner and him and his friend had the best time on it the boats and paddle boards.
Such a lovely relaxing and peaceful place for us adults aswell!
Morag was so friendly and approachable and very laid back.

Stay was good, but not amazing. More of a smallholding than a farm. Animals seem well cared for. Lots of animals poo everywhere as most of the animals roam across the site, so if you can't deal with this I would not recommend. River seemed clean. Close to main road and a lot of traffic noise. Kitchen was poor, rotting bana peel not cleaned up, fridge not able to keep very cool. would recommend taking your own BBQ. Some rubbish on the site, and a lot at the entrance. Only one shower and two toilets for the whole campsite, so I was glad it was quiet! On the plus side the shower was hot, although the facilities weren't that clean. Owner was friendly and accommodating. Had a safety issue but it was dealt with by her quickly. All in all 3/5.

The staff was friendly and we loved the fact we were able to pet and feed the animals.
However, the 2 toilets and only one shower ( we must have been at least 50 souls camping and glamping!) were very dirty, the shower pipe came off the wall… also no pegs at all to hang your towel/clotes.
We paid for 2 people to collect eggs from the hens but there were none on either of the mornings we were there , I have brought it up with one of the ladies there and she just said “what a shame “… it’s not even about the £5 but more about the principle. No one said oh, will refund or let me ask what’s the procedure etc.
Extremely overpriced for such poor facilities and what they promise to offer but don’t deliver.

We called prior to arrival as instructed but there was no answer, we turned up on site a bit lost of where to go, thankfully another camper helped direct us to the appropriate person. The site itself is ok, I would said a bit run down and it sounded and looked a lot better online. The best part is all the lovely animals roaming free around the campsite. The biggest downfall for me is only 1 shower and 2 toilets for the whole campsite. In all I feel the campsite is overpriced and would be reluctant to revisit again.

Having the farm animals in the same field as us, and them being as relaxed around us as we were around them, was magical. There are full on working farms and at the other end of the spectrum are children’s petting farms - this is neither, it’s living together naturally. We brought our own tent and were told to pitch up anywhere we liked and can make our own fire to cook in etc, and forage for wood in the forest, back to nature stuff. We collected eggs every morning from the chickens and cooked them on the fire - the children were amazed and adored it.

Thanks so much Morag for another magical stay- second time staying with you but first with our children and it was a great success. A lot has changed since our first stay last year with the addition of a new yurt kitchen complete with all the essentials needed, new zip wire, woodland play area and sandpit. The farm has absolutely everything- beautiful surroundings, camping along the river with ample space for the kids to run and play. We made use of all the facilities, there are boats on site so we took these along the river, the children fed the chickens and collected eggs in the morning, they also thoroughly enjoyed walking the goats and spending time with all the other animals on the farm. So overall a great success and we will without a doubt be booking again very soon so once again huge THANK YOU....keep up the good work :)

A Perfect Family Getaway

We just returned from a magical weekend at this charming family-friendly campsite, and I can’t recommend it enough! If you're looking for a peaceful spot where kids can truly connect with nature, this is the place.
The highlight for our little ones was definitely the farm animals. They loved feeding the goats, watching the chickens peck around, and saying good morning to the friendly donkeys each day. It added such a sweet, wholesome touch to the whole experience.
The stream that runs through the site was another huge win. The water is shallow and safe enough for kids to splash, wade, and build little dams for hours. It felt like stepping back into a simpler time, where screens were forgotten and imagination took over.
The campsite itself is clean, well-maintained. Usually you get charged for renting a fire pit but here that’s included! Plenty of space to run and play, but still quiet and relaxing for the adults. The small on-site shop with quick meals definitely saved our late night arrival.
All in all, this site offers a perfect mix of rustic charm and comfort. Whether you’re roasting marshmallows around the firepit or helping your toddler feed a lamb, it’s the kind of place that leaves you with lasting memories.
We’ll definitely be back

Morag is lovely and tries hard to create a magical back to nature experience for her guests
Great to provide so much in the way of kettles seating etc although it might be worth making it clear people can just bring their tent and bedding to benefit from this
Just a couple of niggles really
There is a fairly constant hum of traffic from the nearby road which rather spoils the idyll
There are only two toilets and one shower for a site with a number of yurts and tent pitches - ok when we were there as only two tents but must be a bit unpleasant when the site is at full capacity
Also we did get a bit mobbed by the animals when trying to eat our dinner - funny but could be a problem for some !

We had such a lovely time, a wonderful pitch by the river. My children had a wonderful time playing there and seeing all the animals. Morag was a lovely host and we would love to come back again

Beautiful view!! Farm animals living free on the campsite, a little river for the kids to play in (even a little boat and sups to play with), in a very nice setting. Our kids didn't want to leave ;)

Not worth the cost. We didn’t receive any tour when arrived, no farm experience such as feeding the animals etc. There were 2 big parties going on, one stag party on the campsite until 12am, and another from somewhere until 4am, very loud music was playing the whole night.

This site has great potential and the stream is a real highlight. The facilities are basic given the high price of a tent pitch compared to other campsites but it's great that it's so easy to access from the train station. I would have given the site a 4* review however, on the weekend we camped there was a party at the site with music pumping out from prior to our arrival at 4pm until late into the night. On arrival we were informed the party would finish at 11pm but this wasn't the case and we were woken in the middle of the night to drunken singing. The host did deal with this promptly when alerted and has said she won't be hosting any more parties on the site but it really impacted our stay as it wasn't the back to nature, family friendly experience we had been expecting. We were offered another free stay but I am not keen to visit again and requested a partial refund. A derisory offer was made and since asking for a perfectly acceptable 28% discount I have heard nothing. It appears the host is more interested in making money than good customer service.

This place is pure magic, couldn’t have asked for anything more. The location is stunning, based in a valley with views of meadows and grand trees as far as the eye can see. You would think you were deep in the countryside. The stream was crystal clear and crisp, we floated down on the kindly provided paddle boards which the kids loved. Not to mention the very friendly animals who wander freely around the site, it was beautiful seeing animals free in their natural environment. The piglets were extremely friendly and my daughter had so much fun playing with them. There is so much to do, in the woodland area my daughter had fun playing in the sandpit, swinging in the hammocks and zooming along the zip wire. We had a gorgeous fire in the pit provided, grilled our fish and enjoyed the starry night. In the morning we collected eggs from the lovely chickens - the freshest eggs I’ve ever had! And to top it all off, Morag is the loveliest person, such a genuine down to earth soul. We will definitely be back!
