At Herston we are a family orientated site, safe for children and our friendly staff will help you with whatever you need. There is so much to discover and experience around picturesque Purbeck; gateway to the Jurassic Coast, England’s first World Heritage Site. Take a trip on the famous Swanage steam train to historical Corfe Castle as we are only a 5 minute walk to Herston Halt station. Enjoy walks along the spectacular coastline and National Trust countryside and why not try out some bird watching, fishing, water sports or even sandcastle building. Further afield are Monkey World, the Tank Museum, Weymouth, Poole Harbour and the bright lights of Bournemouth. You can abandon the car for the entire holiday if you wish since the park is just over a mile from the bustling Seaside town centre of Swanage where many interesting events are held including the Swanage Carnival, Blues Festival, Folk Festival and Jazz Festival. It is even less distance to the sandy blue flag family beaches. On-site, there are great facilities for you to enjoy during your stay. If you want to unwind with just a coffee or sit back and relax in front of the log burning fire and sip your tipple of choice, knowing that your evening meal is being prepared by our experienced chefs then our bar is the place for you. There is a large selection of lager and real ales for you to enjoy as well as known spirits and wines for the discerning palette. Please check our "What's On" page for up and coming events and entertainment at Herston. Don’t forget the kids as we have an extensive children’s menu and a large selection of non-alcoholic drinks available and immediately behind the bar is our children’s play park, including swings and slides, you can watch you kids playing in comfort from our conservatory. We also have a show bar on site where most of our entertainment takes place during peak season. There is also a takeaway bar situated for you in the camping fields open at peak times for breakfast and evening meals. Also serving a wide variety of hot food from fish and chips to a full English, cold drinks, slush puppies and ice creams. If you do forget to bring anything then there is an on-site shop that carries most of the essentials that you may need. We do not charge for dogs. However, we do require that they are kept on a lead at all times whilst on the park, and that as a responsible owner, you clean up any mess they may create.

Glamping at Redricks

41 units · Glamping2 acres · East Anglia, Hertfordshire
Beautiful natural lakes glamping site in East Hertfordshire surrounded by farm and fields. The site has one area for glamping and another for camping guests who bring their own tent. There are showers, toilets and mobile washing up sinks in the fields and cold drinking water, as well as kitchen facilities and a BBQ at each glamping unit. Each bell tent has firepits in the open field but not in the wooded areas. It's a 10-minute drive into Sawbridgeworth (or a lovely gentle half-hour walk beside the River Stort following the Stort Valley Way). In town, take a look around the Tudor House Gallery (01279 600112), gathering treats for yourself from the gift shop, or visit some of the many antique shops in the town. If activities are more your style, then you can make use of the various riding stables that are dotted around Sawbridgeworth and Harlow. Hoskins Farm Riding Stables (01279722165) is less than 10 minutes' drive away and caters for all experience levels. The art gallery, Parndon Mill (01279426042) is also nearby taking just over 10 minutes to reach, they have lots of arts and crafts exhibitions and also host various art classes throughout the week. There are several good pubs within walking distance of Glamping at Redricks. The Moorhen (01279 423066) is over a half-hour walk away – casual and relaxed and good for families with kids, you can enjoy their wide range of beers, wines and dinner options in their sunny beer garden. Half an hour's walk will also get you to The Plume of Feathers (01279 424154), where they have a new stone-baked pizza oven and a patio with an outdoor bar, and The Dusty Miller (01279424180) – both are in nearby Gilston.

Dog-friendly campsites in the UK guide

Tips, Tricks & Blogs for Dogs

Think of all the things you love about camping – being outdoors, breathing in the fresh air, enjoying space, sunlight and freedom. Funnily enough, when dogs go camping, they can’t get enough of that stuff either! For a dog, camping is the best kind of holiday there is. All those things to sniff, new places to explore, new neighbours to meet and acres of space to run wild. It’s paradise. But, to get it right there are always a few important things that owners should remember. Your dog needs to be healthy (vaccinated), sociable (good with other people and pets) and very obedient. And, most of all, your dog must be cleaned up after. Most campsites that allow dogs will have clear rules that you must also follow and, generally speaking, will require you to keep your dog on a lead at all times (particularly farm campsites that may have livestock). It’s also a good idea to check local dog restrictions before you leave – some areas will ban dogs on beaches during summer or in parks during certain seasons. Finally, remember to think carefully about where your dog will sleep before you leave. You may need to bring extra blankets and rugs for cleaning before they go anywhere near your tent or you may need to bring a tarpaulin to provide extra sleeping space.

Dog-friendly Campsites in the UK

Whether it's England, Wales or Scotland, camping with your pet in the UK is often easier than you think. While some of the UK's most popular camping locations, including the likes of Cornwall, Devon and Dorset, will have restrictions on beaches during the summer months, that doesn't mean they aren't pooch-friendly patches all the same. We know of loads of campsites where dogs are welcomed with open arms and, provided you play by the rules – your dog should be on a lead, well-behaved and cleaned up after – there's no reason why your best friend shouldn't come along for the ride too. Dogs love camping and the countryside right here in the UK is the place they love to explore. Some pet-friendly campsites will have hoses for washing down your dirty dog, doggie treats in the campsite shop and even designated dog walking areas so you can let your dog off the lead on-site. Whatever you're after, find the best dog-friendly campsites in the UK below and book your next adventure online today.

Dog-friendly Campsites in France and Europe

Travelling to France and Europe with your pet is now easier than ever before. With railway travel, ferry crossings and the channel tunnel, there are a range of ways of reaching the continent with your pet, while some airlines even allow dogs to travel too. Your pet will need an official passport, of course, and the required vaccinations, but, provided you have everything in order, travelling to France does not require long quarantine times or vast amounts of paperwork. And the best news is, that means if you're going camping in France your dog can easily come too! We love camping in France and have been across the channel with our pets and without them. And, having covered the continent over many years by campervan, car and bike, we're confident that we've found and recommend only the very best campsites. So checkout our collection of dog-friendly campsites now, safe in the knowledge that every spot has the big thumbs up from our award-winning Hipcamp team.

Dog Breeds: Which Dog Breeds Are Permitted?

Most campsites that we have recommended for you and your dog will welcome any of the UK's legal dog breeds. However, there are sometimes independent campsites that have more specific rules about which dogs they do and do not accept. Certain dog breeds will be welcome at every single site, while the likes of Rottweilers, Bull Dogs and other short-noses breeds will sometimes face restrictions. Where possible, we have always noted this under our Who's In heading, but if you have any doubt about whether your breed of dog will be accepted at a campsite we always recommend contacting the campsite owners directly. Similarly, in France and Europe, some campsite owners will have a preference about which dogs are and are not welcome at their location. If in doubt, just give them a call. All of the campsites we recommend have happy and helpful owners who will be willing to give you further details.

Dog-friendly Glamping

Shepherd's huts, yurts, glamping pods and even treehouses (if your dog can stand the height!) It's not just campers that can take their dog on holiday these days. You can go glamping with your dog as well. There's a fantastic range of pet-friendly glamping accommodation out their too, with more and more locations welcome your extra furry friend along. When it comes to glamping the rules of bringing your pet along can vary. Some glamping sites are completely dog friendly and will allow your pooch everywhere on-site, including inside your glamping unit. Other sites, meanwhile, will declare themselves pet-friendly but still require that your dog does not go inside the actual accommodation. In these instances you can bring your dog but he or she will have to sleep outside of your glamping unit Ina shelter that you may have to bring yourself (or in your car). The important thing is to read the information provided clearly and, if in doubt, contact the glamping site owner for further information.
