Lower Vessons View Campsite is situated in a rural location of the Shropshire hills, area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Featuring a range of wildlife, red kites, hares, deers are often spotted around the family run farm.
Enjoying easy access to an array of walks including stiperstones ridge walk, the hollies & poles coppice circular and the Gatten Valley circular walk. We are approximately 6 miles from the long mynd which offers a classic Shropshire hills scenery, featuring valleys, moorland and woodland.
If you're a mountain biker we are a 5 minutes bike ride to eastridge woods notorious for its diverse terrain and challenging trails.
We provide basic facilities on our family run site with friendly local knowledge and advice we can give. Children and dogs are welcome. Dogs must be kept on leads at all times.
Surrounded by several country pubs seeking a refreshing pint we are just 1 mile drive to the local pub with other takeaways and restaurants within a couple of miles. Including a local butchers and bakery in Pontesbury (Hignetts) as well as a Co-op.
If you love history and are looking to explore the local area we are close to Snailbeach Whitegrit Mine: Located in the immediate vicinity, Snailbeach is home to the most complete lead mining site in Britain. Guests can explore the remarkably preserved engine houses, the blacksmith`s shop, and the distinctive "Whitegrit" spoil heaps that characterize the valley`s skyline. Guests can opt for a 30 minute walk through the countryside or a 20 minute drive.
A 30 minute drive takes you to the medieval market town of Shrewsbury, famous for its timber-framed "black and white" buildings and steep, narrow passageways known as "shuts."
Shrewsbury Prison: A premier "dark tourism" attraction. This decommissioned Victorian jail offers immersive guided tours led by former officers, escape rooms, and a fascinating look into 200 years of penal history.
The Quarry Park & River Severn: Enjoy a walk through the 29-acre riverside park or take a boat trip on the Sabrina to see the town from the water.

One of the things people love about staying here is the amazing views - including watching the moon rise over the mountains. The developing Clwydian dark sky region means there are great views of the night sky and sometimes northern lights.
You may just want to hang out and relax but there’s lots to do too!
There are lovely local forest and waterside walks, neolithic burial sites, a stone circle, Osprey, butterfly and (if you are lucky) red squirrel watching, a secret waterfall and river swimming, easy and challenging off road cycling options, access to water sports. Or if you want to use a car to help get up higher the Clwydian and Berwyn Mountains and Eryri (Snowdon) National Park are all within a half an hour drive.
If history and mooching is your thing we are just 5 miles from Ruthin - one of the oldest existing Tudor towns - boasting an historic gaol, a craft centre with regular exhibitions and a castle with a spa and peacocks.
Denbigh with its stunning castle, Corwen, Llangollen, Llyn Tegid (Bala) and the North Wales Coast are easy to reach by car. There are also options for days out using public transport including taking a steam train. Please ask - they aren't all known to Google!
The nearby village has a community run pub and shop with the Glan Llyn tafan offering food by local gastro company Sorbus. In fact there are loads of great little villages near by each with their own character and points of interest including great cafes, walks, Punjabi pub food, historic churches and sacred wells.

Great place, Jayne perfect host, met us on arrival and gave us a tour, showed us our space, lovely cooked breakfast in the morning at a time that suited us.
Indoor space with kitchen facilities and chill out area with tv/dvds which would be great if the weather turned and you wanted a break from your tent. We were very impressed with the Yurts and will book one next time. Have already recommended to fellow camper friends.
Lake Vyrnwy short drive away which our dog Maggie loved swimming in, and chilling at the camp after. Thank you for a lovely weekend

Loved this campsite from the moment I met the owner at reception. So friendly! The campsite is large and despite the slope we were able to get a level spot in the middle of the field. The surroundings are beautiful - a rugged coast and acres of fields! It was all very relaxed, with room for children and families to play ball games. The facilities are clean. You get a 5 minute shower for £1, which was fine for us. There's a lovely cafe and the bara brith was something else! A great experience and great value. Be prepared for a strong breeze, but as it was so warm, the breeze was very welcome! 😊 I would recommend this campsite to anyone. (WiFi is virtually non existent, but camping is better without it in my view! )

3 toilets, 2 showers, adequate but not always the cleanest. Showers cost £1 and were push button which needed pushing every 30 seconds.
Close to the coastal path and a lovely walk to Aberdaron.
The field was pretty slopey in places but plenty on flat enough places to pitch.

The hosts were really nice and welcoming. The site it self was really nice and peaceful with a really nice view across fields to hills perfect view with. Morning coffee. The site also had really good facilities for if you wanted to have you food away from your tent with the option of farm shop and bar ran on a honesty system. My kids loved the whole experience. Next time I will look at the weather forecast about better as it was far to hot for the kids but was amazing place for peaceful escapee. Thank you

Incredible walks on doorstep and huge area to choose from to pitch tent so not overcrowded at all.

A beautiful, peaceful night in a lovely meadow. The pitches are secluded from each other and the facilities are fine. The cafe and shop are lovely and part of a special community venture, and I was there for the storytelling in the roundhouse on site. 🛖 Felin Uchaf is a truly unique place.

It was our second time here. We absolutely love it here. Beautiful scenery… there is honestly nothing like it, so unique. Could have done without my other half ripping his toenail off and realising we hadn’t picked up our first aid kit but some other friendly campers ahead a fully loaded first aid kit! Don’t try move the fire pits with flip flops on!! Other than that a lovely relaxing evening…
