Weekend Trip to Pytingwyn WoodsWhat an incredible campsite! It really does feel wild and free, and it's hard to tear yourself away. The river is wonderful to swim in (for children and adults, there are shallow areas, deep areas and two beach strips - one pebble, one silt!), which was an absolute blessing on the boiling hot days we were there. There's a brilliant range of pitches (field, next to the river, deeper in the woods, in a woodland glade.) It felt safe having our dog off lead on the quieter day, with sheep fencing on the borders of the site. Everybody camping there was lovely, which was a bonus! Owner David was very friendly and popped by once a day. I'd recommend bringing supplies to deal with wasps and horse flies, as they were somewhat prolific and we all were bitten whilst we were there. Citronella candles worked well. The bonus to the insect life was being able to watch the bats catch them at dusk! It's a wonderful site for wildlife. Compost toilet was excellent: clean, minimal aroma and well stocked. We absolutely loved it and hope to return as soon as possible.
