Jeremy Clarksons Diddly squat farm (21m) and his new public house have also become popular with our guests. If walking or running is more your focus then why not explore the beautiful RSPB Otmoor bird reserve, a haven for wildlife with many visitor trials to enjoy, it’s merely a short walk away. Off the beaten track on top of the Mendips in an area of outstanding natural beauty. A mixture of four acres of wild woodland, orchard and field set on a hillside. Our Yurt is set up in the trees giving you peaceful seclusion and a clear view across the sea to Wales and the mountains of the Brecon Beacons. A huge range of activities are possible or you can lie in the hammock with a good book. We have very friendly dogs and rescue chickens who may come and visit. Wild deer wander past in the early morning mist and the odd buzzard picks an argument with a bunch of crows but nothing much else should disturb you. We moved here after an 18 month search 8 years ago. It was close to everything we wanted and we've spent some time getting a bit closer.

This was my third visit this year and we pitched up in a different location to before. The choice of where you want to pitch up is endless and every area of the pitch gives you complete privacy with stunning views. If you have a dog then this pitch is perfect for them to enjoy open space. Peter and Celia are amazing hosts with great communication. The pitch is really easy to access and find, we were fine with our 7m camper. I highly recommend this Hipcamp.

Despite torrential rain, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and loved not seeing another human being for 3 whole days! Plenty of wildlife for company though, and we loved having the big skies and amazing views all around us!
Lovely hosts directed us to where to pitch and then left us to it and we can't wait to stay again! Highly recommend if you like to camp slightly wild!! ❤️

2 nights at Cuddfan - The Hiding Place
Thanks Mark for the lovely stay! The area is secluded and picturesque, which really gave us the feeling of living a nomadic life with just the basic amenities.
A few tips for future visitors:
Bring a hanging light or headlamp, as it gets very dark and there’s no lighting provided.
There’s a gas stove and cooking area, but you’ll need to bring your own utensils.
Pack warm duvets and thick jackets if you’re visiting in autumn, as nights can get very cold.
🚗 Important: Do not drive your car down to the tent. Park just after entering the gate and walk down instead. I missed the host’s message about this, got stuck trying to drive back up, and had to be rescued by a farmer with his tractor (thankfully the host responded quickly and was super helpful!).
Despite that little adventure, I absolutely loved the stay and would highly recommend it if you’re looking for a unique experience without the hassle of putting up a tent yourself.

A fantastic stripped back Wild camping experience that was just perfect for what I needed. Very organised in the communication and lots of choice on where to best pitch up. I have a roof tent so managed to find a nice flat spot that felt very remote with wonderful views.

Camping at The Batch was a tranquil and relaxing experience for a short get-away over the bank holiday weekend. The area itself is great for anyone wanting to visit surrounding locations (such as Cheddar and Wells), but also for people wanting to unwind amongst some stunning views. The badminton court gave us great entertainment, and in the summer there’s a TON of dragonfly’s by the orchard so we set to the impossible challenge of getting a non blurry photo, but never succeeded. The fire pits made for some great BBQ’s and source of heat while stargazing too!
However, the experience doesn’t stop at just the campsite itself. Tim takes great pride in maintaining the area and assisting everyone in anyway he can. From the offset he offered to help us move our equipment and to give us a tour of all on offer, including some fresh plums from his orchard! During pass by Tim would check in on us and ask how we were and what adventures we went on, but also to offer to help us with anything else we needed.
It’s fair to say the amazing site was taken to the next level from Tim’s great hospitality and super character. I would highly recommend and will definitely set pitch again! Hopefully next time I’ll get some better photos of the dragonfly’s!

Great spot with great walks next to the river! We had a great time and would definitely go back! The pub was also great and allowed us to meet more of the other campers! They also rent out paddle boards and kayaks for trips up the river. However some improvements could be done to the facilities on the camp site. The sink for washing dishes is very low and only has cold water, the sink could also do with a clean. The showers also are quite tight, only have one temperature and make it impossible to not get your hair wet.

Absolute gem of a place. Zoe was so welcoming and sorted me out with some wood for the fire pit as well. Clean facilities and beautiful views. Felt very safe as a solo camper. Will definitely be back!

3 nights at Cotswolds Camping
Beautiful site, very quiet, although we were there mid week (in August though). Very well thought out, lots of different areas, plus a cafe and an option to book a massage to have onsite! I would definitely go back.
