Past trips
The Barnyard
in Cuyama Badlands, CaliforniaWorld class hipcamp
This was my fourth visit to Songdog Ranch and as with every trip out to New Cuyama I had a blast. The amenities, views, and star gazing are all top notch. Jim has built a true world class Hipcamp.
Ridge Top
in Bear Gulch Hide Out, CaliforniaPrivate hipcamp + incredible views
Art has built an incredible Hipcamp at Bear Gulch. The Ridge Top site is so peaceful, relaxing, and picturesque. I would highly recommend it for groups and self contained campers. The views of the ocean and valley are top notch. A Few notes: The toilet is a decent 15 minute hike away and no fires are allowed. This Hipcamp is best suited for self-contained campers with on board toilets.
Crater Lake Resort - Full RV 15
in Crater Lake Resort, OregonClose to crater lake
Very friendly staff, well stocked general store, convenient location right off highway, respectful campers during my stay. Washroom facilities are older, but clean. River front RV sites are quite close together, #15 was especially tight. Okay spot to spend night after exploring Crater Lake National Park.
Golden Triangle RV Site 1
in Golden Triangle RV Bend, Oregon, OregonSecond visit! love this hipcamp!
This is my second time camping at the Golden Triangle. Rocki and Myles have built such an incredible and meticulously maintained Hipcamp. Go-to spot to post up and relax after exploring all that Bend has to offer.
🔌 POWER 🚐 SITE 6️⃣
in Mt Hood Vanlife Oasis w/ Coworking!, OregonPerfect respite from the road
We loved our quick overnight at the Blue Barn! After spending a few weeks on the road in the rig, the hot showers, full kitchen, work spaces, and hangout spaces were such a treat. Lauren and Jeremy are incredible Hipcamp Hosts and I will certainly be back the next time I find myself between Bend and Portland.
Hidden Meadow Deck Site
in Hidden Meadow Retreat, WashingtonPeaceful retreat outside olympia
I had such a peaceful and relaxed night at Hidden Meadows! I really loved how private and tucked away the deck site felt from the more open meadow sites. The hot shower was wonderful and portable toilet was well maintained. Very quiet at night, even with two other Hipcampers on the property. I would certianly camp here again the next time I'm passing through Olympia.
Aside: If you need a clear view of sky for Starlink or solar input I would opt for a meadow site as the deck site is quite shaded.
River Ranch - Full Bathroom/shower
in River Ranch - Private beach, MontanaReturn hipcamper, love it here!
This was my second visit to River Ranch! One of my favorite Hipcamps in the country. It's so relaxing to post up next to the river at night. Flush toilet, hot shower, and friendly animals are all a treat, too! My go-to place to camp when passing through Kalispell. Thanks for hosting us, Kevin!
RV-37) Back In RV Site
in The Longhorn Ranch, WyomingQuiet rv park on wind river
Peaceful spot to post up after fly fishing around Dubois. The private shower/toilet rooms were a huge bonus after a long day out on the Wind River. Sites are that not private or well spaced out, but all campers were respectful of noise and it was silent at night, just the peaceful sound of the river. I was one of the few campers in a rooftop tent, most folks had large RVs and Fifth Wheels. Some tree cover, so expect spotty Starlink connection and solar input.
RV-48) Back In RV Site
in The Longhorn Ranch, WyomingSite #48, last riverfront site
Site #48 is the last riverfront site, so you only have a neighbor on one side. I'd recommend this spot for the most privacy all other sites are rather tight. I spent another two nights in site #37 and I felt like I was in my neighbors site... and I know they felt the same, they ended up moving their bug shelter to give us both a little more space, which was nice of them.
Pros: Full hookups and well maintained showers and toilets, camping directly on the Wind River, respectful campers all around during my stay. Good shade at most sites.
Cons: Tight sites with little privacy, shade from tress does impact solar and Starlink.
Note: I've never experienced this at a campsite or Hipcamp before, but you'll have to provide a credit card number upon arrival for a security deposit. The front desk took the number, but never actually ran it or put a temporary hold down. I was fine with this, was not a problem, just sharing to set expectations for future Hipcampers!
T054
in Shelter Cove Campground, CaliforniaCrowded sites in a beautiful place
I camped over Fourth of July Weekend—so crowds were expected going into the trip.
Pros: Very friendly on-site staff, clean facilities, on-site camp store, walking distance to ocean, brewery, and restaurant.
Cons: Objectively tight campsites. There was less than 6 feet of space between cars, rigs, and tents. I could reach out and touch my neighbor's rig from the inside of my rig... During my stay over the 4th weekend, quiet time was not enforced, but I expected that going into it.
In summary: This place would be great if the number of operable sites was thinned out on core holidays/weekends to give all guests a more enjoyable experience.
If visiting on a quiet weeknight outside of peak season, I'm sure you'll have a blast. If camping in a soft-sided rig, I'd suggest skipping any weekends during peak season.
Vintage 1985 VW (Choncho)
in Camp Electra in Mokelumne Hill, CaliforniaCommunal hangout in mokelumne hill
Camp Electra is the perfect place to hhangout after a day exploring in and around Mokelumne Hill. Your host, Ryan, has built an incredible outdoor bath house with a hot shower and a tankless toilet. The VW van makes for an easy accommodation and night outside under the stars. If you're looking for a place with a communal feel definitely checkout Camp Electra! We enjoy hanging out with Ryan's two friendly dogs, too. Pro-tip: Ryan has a second VW van available that he can drive down to the site for a little more room for groups or kids (Available as an "extra" during the booking process on Hipcamp)
Swallow Nest
in Estero San Antonio Wonderland, CaliforniaPeaceful retreat in west marin
I had such a peaceful overnighter on Guido's beautiful farm. The campsites are well spaced out and outfitted with picnic tables and firepits* (*only to be used when safe to do so) Definitely opt for the farm fresh Extras in checkout. The eggs, bacon, and breakfast sausages were all great!
