This working farm has been enjoyed for generations of local families. Stay off-the-grid in a cozy, rustic cabin retreat. The historic barns, deep swimming pond, sugar house, and stunning woods with trails that have 2 disc golf baskets all provide ample space, entertainment and privacy for a quiet and relaxing retreat. Learn more about this land: Come join us at the Gaylin Farms – home to four friendly goats, Newfoundland ponies, Chanticler chickens, two dogs and a cat. Stay at our completely private cabin (sleeps 3 comfortably, sleeping mats/air mattresses NOT provided) isolated within the centre of a gorgeous 25-acre forest with a private groomed c. 1.5 km walking/biking trail. The cabin is a 5-minute walk from the Trans Canada RailTrail which grants easy access for longer bike rides, runs, hikes, and four-wheeler adventures. You’ll walk through a horse pasture and a cow pasture on your way to the cabin. There is a large farm pond (10ft deep) on the property for swimming. Enjoy access to locally-sourced food, firewood (at a small fee), drinking water, a private firepit, small wood stove and our old-fashioned wood-fired cook stove. There is no electricity or running water (but we provide ample drinking water) and there can be access to a charger box so you may charge your devices or have a light at night. Bring your pets and enjoy a private retreat. The max capacity of the cabin is three people. An outhouse with double-duty bag and second luggable loo are available for all guests. Minimum stay: 2 nights. NEW ADDITION: A new room, a small annex, has been constructed to allow for downstairs sleeping and writing area. It is fully insulated with a wood stove so this area may be used year round. The annex gives one a deeper feeling of being a part of the woods.

Our grass lots are backed with lush Appalachian forest and leads way to a slow brook where you can wade with the tide or try your hand at fishing or simply sit by the fire and enjoy the solitude. Check in is self guided as there is no host on site but you'll find it simple as all sites, as well as the toilet area is well marked with signage. This doesn’t mean we aren’t here to help, you can reach us 24/7 via text. We are Located just off the Acadian Coastal Drive and minutes from the beautiful Fundy shore. You can bring your tent, RV, van or camper and choose from 4 fantastic sites. 1-30 amp service, 2 roadside non-serviced as well as one privative forested site and 3 tent sites. All sites are equipped with a fire pit and access to our outhouse restroom. Wood is available for purchase if you didn’t bring your own! We are currently fencing in the entire property to make it a dog/cat and livestock safe area so pets can enjoy a safer experience . Mainland Nova Scotia is less than a 30 minute drive and if your adventurous and want to drive the Cabot Trail then you can reach Cape Breton Island in under 2 hours! Catch a Ferry to Newfoundland if your heart desires. PEAK SEASON (May 1- Sept 31) OFF GRID (Oct 1 -Dec 31 and March 15 - April 31) CLOSED for winter (Dec 31- March 14) There is no potable water on site however, we do have an out building with compostable toilet, shower/change area. The perfect mix of camp and glamp with privacy, peace and serenity. This is a great spot for a couple, friends or young family to enjoy the outdoors together. With animals on the farm, trails on the property, location close to Amherst and attentive hosts, you can't get much better than this! Bring some sunscreen, bugspray and smore stuff for the ultimate unwind and relaxing time. This was a beautiful solo and safe getaway if you just want some time to yourself. I will definitely be back if I ever need some time alone to journal and read. Thanks again!

We had such a fantastic stay at this off-grid cabin. The hosts were warm and welcoming, and the cabin was thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed. It was spotless, cozy, and perfectly tucked away in the trees for a peaceful getaway. We loved the firepit, the nearby trails, the open field, and especially the pet emus — such a fun and memorable touch. Highly recommend for anyone looking to unplug and relax in nature! Absolutely loved our stay! The camp had all the basic necessities for off grid, with perfect layout and warm decor. The land and trails were so fun to explore. Snowshoeing and winter bonfire were great - peaceful nature retreat at its best. Dawn and Terry were very much great hosts, with directions and explanations at the start, even lending us a sled for our unrequired heavy packs, as well as letting us know to reach out anytime if anything more needed. No need for that, the cabin already had all we needed for a weekend stay, along with special touches. The games and puzzles were a great addition too! Thanks so much for sharing your piece of paradise!!

We had a great two night stay at the Owl's Nest cabin. Helmut answered all of our questions before we left and transported us to the cabin to show us around the cabin and property. Cabin is secluded and off-grid. Our dog was not a fan of the steep stairs to the loft. Don't forget to bring your orange vest and remember to check for ticks. Highly recommend for those looking for a quiet getaway.

We absolutely loved our stay at Owl’s Nest! Helmut treated you like family, sharing his experiences tending the forest and the cabin that he built. If you’re looking for a place to get off-grid, connect with nature, and be able to explore the many trails just outside your door, this is the place! We especially appreciated how the land was private, so that we could let our pup explore without worrying about running into any other dog owners. It was a great to share this cabin and we will certainly be coming back!

We loved camping at Cardinal campground. The sites were very well maintained and level and the bistro lighting was a nice touch. The host was very nice and responsive to our questions. The proximity to the national park could not be beat, we would not hesitate to stay again!

We arrived with our trailer which is self contained late in the season and Manuel's place welcomed us with friendly hospitality . We stayed one night and the weather was rainy so we did not have a chance to hike the property but the welcome was warm and friendly.

We surprised my parents with a stay at Bootsie Back 40 Cabin for their 40th anniversary, and it was absolutely perfect! The hosts went above and beyond with every detail. The cabin itself is so cozy and welcoming, surrounded by stunning fall colors that made the whole experience magical. My parents loved the peace and quiet — they spent their mornings sipping tea while listening to the birds sing. The hosts were wonderfully friendly and even took photos of my parents for me, which was such a thoughtful touch. They also got to visit the farm animals (including two emus!), which they absolutely adored. Thank you for helping me give my parents such a memorable and heartfelt experience. This will be a trip they’ll cherish forever!

Property is right on the road but there is a long dirt driveway the length of the property that allows you to get back away from the road. The vegetation was a bit overgrown and dry when we stayed so we didn’t drive all the way back but there is a nice flat field area in the back that would be a nice spot to park for the night.

Kyla was very helpful when we arrived. The property is very large and there is no one else around. Very private. Great cut grass open site with an amazing view across to NS. Nice hiking trails all around. Definitely a great place to camp.
