Rauhala Heritage Farm is a privately owned farm on the outskirts of the town of Sointula, on Malcolm Island, B.C.
Rauhala is surrounded by a 100 acre forest with our own private bay with fields, a creek and a beach campsite area there you can look out at the mountains of Northern Vancouver Island, where you may get to see some whales.
Bring your own water. Pack-in/Pack-out garbage.
You get to set up camp on our beach campsite, which overlooks the ocean and mountains.
There are many hiking trails on our property where you can view some giant old growth trees.
Rauhala is a heritage site and I do offer eco-heritage tours of the property. Rauhala means Place of Peace in the Finnish language and dates back to the early Finnish settlement of Sointula.

Sayward has such a variety of outdoor gems to explore. Fishing, kayaking, hiking, exploring waterfalls, lakes and river oasis’s. You are truly immersed in nature no matter which direction you choose. Having your base here you come back at the end of your day still immersed in the beauty of the surrounding land.
We do have a ton of wildlife so please be aware of this. Elk are frequent visitors (and not fans of dogs). Cougar, wolves and bear have also been around these parts for centuries and still continue to visit. Please contain garbage to decrease chances of human/wildlife conflict.

Unique floating cabins, one cabin sleeps 4, the other 6 people. Everything you need for a few nights away is here. These cabins are boat-access only. We have had guests come from Telegraph Cove by kayak. They were happy for the hot running water when they got here. The kitchens are fully equipped with all the staples you will need; just bring your food.
One cabin has a bedroom with a queen bed, and the living area has a double bunk bed in the bottom and a single on the top. There is also a pull-out sofa. The studio cabin has a queen bed and a set of single bunk beds in the same room. The seafood is just waiting for you to catch it! The cleaning station is ready for use! Nice open clearing over looking a wetland. It's a short walk away from the small parking spot on the road. Walk across across a pedestrian bridge over a creek and into the open sky area fringing the wilderness. It gets a lot of sun in the evenings and is home to lots of wildlife. There is room for 3 or4 tents in the area. There is a compost toilet outhouse. Its' a short walk to the dock and ocean and right by the newton lake trail head. This spot is great for sun and star bathing and cooling off in the creek. It's a salmon bearing creek, every October they swim up it to spawn. It's a pretty special place far away from civilization. There is no cell service, or electricity and creek water should be treated before drinking.

3 bed Cabin built on a bluff among the maples. Cabin includes 3 double beds. One is a private room and two up in the loft.
Boat access only! Sonora island does not have a ferry. We are currently only accepting booking from folks who have access to a private boat. Once on the island it is a 3-4km walk down the main road (which is usually muddy if there was recent rain) to the cabin.
No service and no wifi. Make sure you arrange your pick up before being dropped off.
Guests need to be fit to hike up to the cabin.
This is a unique fully remote and off grid escape that is not for everyone! Please reach out if you have any questions!
Pack in your own bedding/ sleeping bags. 5 minute walk to our private gravel beach over looking the ‘Hole in the Wall’ rapids. Our water reservoir that collects from a near by creek, feeds the house. Boiling before drinking advised. Also included in the cabin is two wood stoves, Propane stove for cooking, hot water on demand and solar power make this get away completely off the grid.

Nestle into our walk-in private 'Pond Cabin' located on our 40 acre Regenerative mixed farm on beautiful Quadra Island.
This idyllic 160 square foot, wood stove heated cabin overlooks the largest pond on our property. The private site boasts a glorious on-demand hot water outdoor shower and covered outdoor kitchen. The Cabin has a double futon bed. Extra mattresses for kids can be brought to the cabin which can then sleep 4.
Walk beside our grazing sheep, goats and chickens and visit our forest raised pigs on your way to the cabin. As Foot Forward is a Permaculture inspired Regenerative farm, no fossil fuels are used in pasture/grounds maintenance. Sheep and goats are used to graze all of the grass including the grass around the pond and cabin.
Farm fresh eggs, and a variety of other products from the farm are available including (assuming they aren't sold out) our famous sausages.
Solar power provides you with all the lighting, shower-water pressure and technology charging you will need for your stay. There is no refrigeration onsite at the moment but access to a farm fridge can be arranged.
Quadra Island was recently rated by Forbes Magazine as #5 of its most up and coming travel locations in the world. Perhaps it was because of its natural beauty or the fact that it is a nearly mosquito free outdoor paradise. Quadra is the largest island in the Salish Sea. Endless recreational opportunities abound on the island. Hundreds of kilometres of hiking and mountain biking trails crisscross the island. Several guiding companies provide access to the world class kayaking and scuba diving off of Quadra's shores.
Do all that... or simply grab a book and curl up beside the pond or read a book in the hammock.

The cabin is winterized. The stove is actually to hot for the size of the cabin. It requires a little practice timing your fire and opening windows to keep it at the best temperature. Since we are all 'Hip" here... it just adds to the adventure. :) Oh yeah... bring boots. :) About once a year a rainstorm intense enough to overflow the stream you need to cross to the cabin overflows. In that case it is a bit of challenge getting there.

This cabin is located on a remote island and is only accessible by water taxi, private boat, float plane charter, kayak or canoe. The water taxi runs Monday, Wednesday, Friday in the summer months and costs $140 per adult one way. The tiny home features a queen bed in the loft, twin bed downstairs, outdoor hot shower, full kitchen with bar fridge and propane range. A sauna (if fires permitted) composting toilets and outdoor showers are available.
Use the tiny home deck to gather and eat under the sun and stars. Relax in the comfy patio furniture or chill out in a shady hammock. Campfires are allowed in the fire pit when permitted.

We had an amazing stay at Nahum's property on Malcolm Island! The property was peaceful and the campsite was great. The orchard was a highlight—we loved picking and eating Nehum's fresh fruit especially the blueberries! The cozy barrel sauna gets HOT and there is the cabin to change in, for added comfort. Nehum was a great host and very welcoming. Overall, a wonderful stay, and we’re already looking forward to coming back! 10/10

This is a well named quaint property: the end of Malcolm Island. This is no glamping kind of cabin, but the host/owner Nahum was very friendly. The sauna and cold tub and outdoor heated on-demand shower and composting toilet were treats for an otherwise rustic experience. He may even offer you a taste of his craft brewed apple cider from his new orchard ~ this was top notch! Great to meet you Nahum!

I really enjoyed my time at this place. The Yurt is lovely and really well built. It is comfortable and the shower is so cute!
There is a toaster oven, coffee maker with coffee and sugar, plus cutlery and plates. There is water and a sink outside that has hot and cold. The wifi is pretty good, but cell service isn't. The driveway is very steep and rocky, so keep in mind when driving there. The bathroom is a walk from the Yurt on gravel. They are pet-friendly which is the best part! The owners were very friendly and kind.
Overall, I really enjoyed staying here and would again!

Beautiful private site, with lots of exploring to be done. the host (roger) met us at the site and gave us a tour of the property. he was more then welcoming and after a tour left us to enjoy his beautiful land. we enjoyed a peaceful night by the water & woke up to the sound of sea life. we will 100% be back to enjoy this spot.

The host was kind and informative. He gave a detailed tour of the property and the amenities, and told us of some of the events going on all over Malcolm Island for Salmon Days!
Very quiet property, we set up a tent in the orchard and had lots of privacy and places to relax. Sadly, we didn't use the sauna or hot tub this time around, but we will on our next visit. I did grab a couple raspberries and nasturtium flowers to add to our salad from Nayams garden. The outside shower was awesome and the composting toilet didn't actually stink which is always nice when using an outhouse haha

Nahum’s place was amazing! He’s very generous with his space and there are plenty of campgrounds with varying amounts of privacy. It was hard to believe he’s only been there for a few years. The whole yard was beautiful. Walk to the beach was quick and easy. Highly recommend.

Magical spot to have all to ourselves. Our kids could be kids without me being nervous of their noise at 5am. We saw whales several times and the biggest pieces of kelp we’ve seen before. Host provided a brief tour on arrival and offered heaps of firewood. The property was neat to walk around - a bit overgrown but still maneuverable in sandals. We’ll absolutely be back.

Stunning views, whales and porpoises in the water all the time, total seclusion, and Roger is such an excellent and thoughtful host..
