New to Hipcamp, but want to share my beautiful property with others. Located on the bank of the Rio Grande River with access to the river at all times. Property is rustic now, but improvements will continue to be made as time goes on. Come help me develop this beautiful location into the best Hipcamp in New Mexico. Just 14 miles of the Chile Capital of the World, Hatch, NM, come during chile harvest to take home fresh green chile right out of the field. 21 miles from Las Cruces, where you will find plenty of events and entertainment, should you so desire. Spaceport, America, T or C, White Sands are all within a day's drive, and Fort Selden is just a few miles down the road, as is Blue Moon Bar and Grill. My dad first came to this property as a farm hand for the elderly couple who owned it. This was in the 1930's. He met my mother, who lived 6 miles down the road, in 1939. She was just 14. Every Sunday he would ride those 6 miles to have supper with her and her family and in 1940, 2 weeks after her 16th birthday, they married. They traveled around before coming back here, buying a small portion of this farm from the elderly owners and farming the rest for them, but in 1953, the man died (his name was Ernest Ward) in the small concrete house I now use for storage, that my dad had built for he and his wife when he first came to work for them. My parents built a home for his widow in Hatch (14 miles) and bought the farm from her. My family has owned it since. I was gone for 31 years, but returned to the land and place I love and plan to stay here till I die!

City of Rocks State Park is your self proclaimed “sponsor of adventure” and we agree! The entire park clocks in at just one square mile, but what’s inside this tiny little park is huge fun. The park is filled with pinnacles, or giant rock formations, that were formed after a volcanic eruption 34.9 million years ago. Today, these rad, red rocks tower over while you hike or bike through the grid like maze at their base. The park also offers a stunning botanical garden, stargazing, and views of the local wildlife. Be sure to stop by the brand new visitors center and get the best tips from the rangers before setting up camp in their comfy campgrounds. Silver City and Deming are close by for access to more fun. A little park that packs a big punch, we’re sure you’ll be mayor of this city in no time!

If you are looking for true peace and tranquility come park your RV next to our private pond. We allow only one RV at a time to ensure you enjoy the beauty and serenity of Rancho Viejo. We are a well hidden jewel in the southwest corner of New Mexico. Our location is about 30 minutes north of Lordsburg ( I-10) just off Hwy 90. Quaint shops, restaurants, and nearly all the amenities of a larger city await you there. While you are here you can also access the Gila Cliff Dwellings or Catwalk near Glenwood. However we think you will be quite content sitting in one of our swings, or dangling your feet in the water, and watching for the wild waterfowl that frequent our pond. We also have a small gift shop filled with locally made southwest pottery, western art, fresh eggs and homemade baked goods. We'd be happy to give you a tour of our gardens and greenhouse where you can also purchase fresh vegetables for your next meal. Our overhead gate has a clearance of 13' 7".

Driving north on Hwy 90 the terrain transforms from desert floor to rolling hills and oak trees. Shopping and sight-seeing can be had in the town of Silver City just a few minutes away. We allow all types of RV trailers and vehicles, living quarters horse trailers, vans, tents, tipis, etc. No age limit on vehicles or trailers. Our parking area is huge, and right next to our pond. Please note : We close during the winter months from November 1st to April 1st.
